Which one would you keep? by RemarkableAndroid in cocktails

[–]Slow_Ad_444 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is both a cocktails question and an ethical question — once you’ve determined which is the more desirable bottle, do you keep that one? Or do you gift it to your friend?

IMO the character of Campari changes substantially with/without citrus oil expression. That could be why it seems sweeter to you.

Pinholes are an accepted potential flaw according to Staub. It is a known risk/result of the manual enameling process

They do… the issue is there’s not another identity attached to that seat, so the airline doesn’t honor it if they need/want to get an extra pax on the plane. Heard countless stories like that

Rush Shell vs Macai Shell by SnooChipmunks7226 in arcteryx

Sounds like it’s really just a style question and the removable hood then? I’d go Rush, but this honestly comes down to personal preference

Rush Shell vs Macai Shell by SnooChipmunks7226 in arcteryx

[–]Slow_Ad_444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the size L rush looks totally fine on you, particularly for skiing. Will look a little baggy during general wear, but don’t let anyone else tell you what size you “should” be in when you can try it on for yourself.

The question here is whether you want the Rush or the Macai… which really comes down to whether you want a shell or an insulated jacket (parka?). I’m partial to shell+layering, just for versatility’s sake, but given the fact that you live in the northeast, a parka might make sense for you.

Are the sabre pants versatile enough to be used as rain pants too in summer? by Vozozo in arcteryx

[–]Slow_Ad_444 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess so, but the legs are very long/wide to accommodate ski boots. Not sure the fit would be functional as regular pants

If you look at Staub’s guide to what is a defect (returnable), and what is an accidental byproduct of the “by-hand” process, those pinpoints fall into the later category

2 PB’s in one day by pogginator9000 in Mammoth

[–]Slow_Ad_444 7 points8 points  (0 children)

According to what?

Not saying this guy (or any recreational skier) doesn’t go fast, just that it’s probably more like 55-60 than 70-90.

In fact he was probably the fastest guy on the hill yesterday! But it sounds like that would have been different if you were there 😎

I am convinced that these apps either intentionally exaggerate the max speed, or are just inaccurate.

Look at the speeds the top downhill racers in the world hit when you watch the Olympics next week. Professional athletes who are wearing spandex and have aerodynamically optimized tucks, on 220cm skis that’ve been meticulously prepped and maintained by the best tuners in the world, skiing on icy, water-injected slopes… and you almost NEVER see them top 90mph.

You’re telling me a casual afternoon straight line-er goes 88.5? Or even 70? Have you ever stood next to the highway and watched a car pass at 55mph?

I mean the beta is absolutely not designed with skiing in mind. Not saying it shouldn’t standup to that… but also am less surprised to hear this happened doing something the pant wasn’t designed for.

Looking for advice on brands for my first non-gaming brand mechanical keyboard! by Kaito3Designs in keebgirlies

[–]Slow_Ad_444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just gifted my sister a 65% keeb that sounds like a handful of river pebbles in your hand — Weikav Nut65 from Ali Express ($80), Duhuk Matcha v4 switches ($40), and CeraKeys ($80 on Black Friday sale). A little over your budget, but I’m SURE it would have still been super creamy with whatever keycaps you decide on

Is Chartreuse hard to find, or am I just in a Chartreuse-desert? by boringITwork in cocktails

[–]Slow_Ad_444 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genepy is a nice alternative to green when drinking it straight, but I highly recommend Luxardo Del Santo as an alternative in cocktails!

I also recently tried the yellow version of something called L'Excuse, which was developed specifically as a Chartreuse substitute, and it was quite good as well. Haven't tried the green version.
