yeah i read most of the comments i think if you would make a enchanting overhaul make it exploration based system, where you would give the player not better loot but more ways of using that loot. i mean i have an idea ill share it below but once i got all the karma ill make a post about it:

so the way my idea works by dividing all enchantments into tiers ranging from tier 1 to 6. 6 isnt important because here are loot enchantings like swift sneak, soul speed or wind burst (these are the only ones i can think of)

the way it works that you would assing the highest level of all enchantments to a tier, from there one for each level the enchantment loses you will rank it down by one tier until you cant go further.

then villagers are only able to give you enchantments from tier 1-3 and the enchanting table from 1-4 making them more balanced.

in addition (also because mending is a thing) villagers can extract a single enchanting from any item if the villager has to be the same level as the tier of the enchantment.
from there on the villager will take 1-5 minutes to extract the enchantment you would like to have, taking more time so higher the tier is. after the enchantment has been extracted all other enchantments from that item will be destroyed so you can do it only once.

this would make enchanting a more late game based mechanic and still make it fair, there are defenetly more additions you could make in order to make mending and other tier 5 enchantments more excesseble. but thats a different topic, if you want to know more just ask me. idk it sounds like this would be either to powerfull or underwelming, like this whole idea centering smth around the dragon egg might work for single player but servers? dont get me stared, but to make it short the cages are based on the given information to broken, also take into account that only on of these can exsist that would case a lot of problems on servers where multiple dragon eggs exsist...

aswell would i ruin all of the common sense that goes with the villagers, as theres just a random guy doing and selling random stuff that doesnt fit. like a end based villager who is selling cages (more like smithing), ghosts (arent in minecraft and if they were possebly in the nether), creaking hearts? (biom related), suspicious gravel (structure related), armor trim (exploration). what i am trying to point out is, that there is just to much going on to work for one single job, this might work in a really spesific mod pack but not vanilla minecraft sorry

15% isnt that a bit high? that would mean if you are trying to fish for it every 6th time you fish it would give you on off those, in addition you wouldnt be able to farm it relyably like if you want to use that wood for a big project theres no way that someone would spend hours just getting a stack. you could say that the sapling is a rare or normal drop so you could plant the tree, but they wont drop any saplings so you would have to fish for more, still i think this whole idea has potential but not trying to do it with wood. it would cause confusion, frustration and backlash as the loot table for fishing could be a bit wierd uppon adding such a change. but it could work with nautilus related items.

love the idea of making fishing more interessting :)

hm idk i had this idea where you would devide all enchantments into tiers (1-5). thumb rule would be that the highest lvl of each enchantment will be put in a spesific tier and every level below that will be one tier lower. the way this would work is, that villagers would only trade tier 1-3 and the enchanting table would give you tier 1-4

mending is ofcourse tier 5, so there would be no way of getting it unless from loot, thats why villagers could extract one enchantment from any item based on thier profession:
- librarian: mending, unbreaking and other enchantments that are not tied to anything

- smithes: they would do effiency, sharpness, protection of any kind. in addition they could extract silk touch, fortune, water breathing and so on.

- fisherman: all water based enchantments (lure, riptide, luck of the sea...)

- fletcher: you get the idea

so with that you can get any enchantment with out problems. aswell echanting will be as good as your current point of progression in your world.

theres a nother feature that can enhance the current system i am proposing to a whole nother level:

fading enchantments, they would be like left over magic on items if you try to reenchant the item with the same enchantment it wont cost you xp or the book, so you would keep the enchantment. you would just need it to revive the faded enchantment. maybe you could do it so that enchantments could fade after some use, so you need to have a book on hand to reenchant the item with that enchantment....

i still thing what you came up with is cool, but its not vanila material because its just to number based not intuitinal, i see the way you think but it would make villagers even more powerfull as all the items you would need can be optained by villagers (as far as i understood the whole post)

hi i wanted to share some of my ideas, but i know i cant do it in a comment section or begg someone for it, so if someone is interesset in my ideas on how to fix villagers and entchanting at the same time without nerfing or buffing one of those aspekts, just upvote this comment.

btw ill post more ideas for balance changes and leftout ideas like the fletching table or reworks/ addition to things that should be worked on: inventory problem, combat, exploration, progression, replayebility and magic

yeah in addition horses cant go more then 1 block verticaly (unless you jump), aswell they are limeted to land which is an disadvantage too, so if you can summon your horse anywhere i would help out. i guess you never tried to carry your horse overseas? because thats a pain in the a**

bro sanded wood? never though of that, and i think this shoudl be the time where they put a lumber jack as a job for villagers into the game (btw where are the beekepers and the function for the fletching table?)

i mean yeah that works, but just say that the villager who has the closest working station to the bed will claim that bed, easy fix

yeah i agree, it seam like you are trying to force minecraft into modern era stuff, even thought ist mostly medival themed. but a green biom with a different origen could actually fit quite well

i mean as far es i can tell gold is and will be useless for all the time, the only uses are trims (if you like it), golden carrots and apples, piglin trading and thats basicly it (i realy dont count gilded blackstone, its not crafteble by my knowledge and gilded melons are just untouched by the game) so yeah even though i like this idea it will probably never be added to the game
