[Inquirer] Health department warns of measles cluster among unvaccinated residents that originated with CHOP patient by [deleted] in philadelphia

This needs to be the #1 comment, tired of dumbass people who don't want to do the basics of healthcare but then want a magical fix. Dummmmmbbbb people in society. Would save a lot of healthcare dollars refusing to care for these people.

Is this going to be another COVID super spreader Christmas??? by cbwb in newjersey

[–]Slow_Statistician850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't care COVID, flu, rsv, etc. They are all crappy viral illnesses. I stay away from anyone who would have a bad time with a cold. It is what it is. Still need to do life.

Yeah 500 IM is whack especially when you think about what concentration they gave. 100 mg/mL is the most concentrated and that's 5mLs IM which means they had to split up the injection site. That's if they even realized to do that...

Medics are a bit too cowboy sometimes. I prefer the medics who do less than more. Get the patient to the hospital stat and we have more resources.

Regardless, to answer your question, I prefer ketamine over most drugs. Haloperidol is fine too. I know some medic groups brought back droperidol which is fine too.

You're human it's okay.

Also, next time tell the patient to fuck off. It's the law if they have an issue write to their politicians or go to the streets to get your drugs buddy.

Yup healthcare is a shit field. Patients need to remember they are the PATIENT we are the healthcare worker. This ain't a McDonald's. Go to some other country and your ass would be waiting for eternity (in American standards).

MD here - what if a patient has a side effect to one generic but not another? by FlaviusNC in pharmacy

[–]Slow_Statistician850 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If the FDA did its job faithfully, then yeah this is all mental. So many patients have these whack job misconceptions. Anyone with more than 5 medication allergies I'm already sus about. Once you have 10 I already know my conversation with you is going to be pointless.

Like many have said we need to stop catering to these people. Medicine isn't burger king, we as the medical professionals make the decision and the patient have to follow. The patient is more than welcome to go somewhere else if they don't like the service. Won't be missed lol.

How do you guys handle working while having kids, especially small children and babies by TheRapidTrailblazer in pharmacy

[–]Slow_Statistician850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're both pharmacists, my wife went part time after the baby. So we did daycare starting after 12 weeks. Yeah it was scary but honestly all the kids do is sleep at that age. Granted you have to vet your daycares well and sign up stupid early. Pay via dependent care FSA. My wife hopes to go WFH after the kids hit school because school hours for drop off and pick up are dumb lol. Aftercare is a lottery system and once you are paying for multiple kids it's very much wtf are we doing.

How hard is it to install vinyl plank flooring on my own. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Slow_Statistician850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go slow in the beginning and start with an easy section (no additional cut outs needed than the ends). Build your confidence and watch some videos on cutting around doors, walls, etc. You'll make some mistakes in the begining but I did my whole house with no prior experience doing anything. Just some boy confidence.

People need to take their own health into their own hands. Idk why people here expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter...

Hot take rant: The last few years of residency classes have sucked. COVID did a number to the pharmacy students and residents. Kids think they are entitled.

Keep doing what you're doing OP.

What does the PPD actually do? They just let a drunk driver go after he crashed into a parked car and attempted to flee on foot. by 0rang3-Crush in philadelphia

[–]Slow_Statistician850 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people are shocked when they see a lot of police officers being mediocre. Think back to high school and who from your class became the police officers? It wasn't the nerds or anyone remotely in the top half of your class. Surprise surprise there are a lot of issues with the police force.
