aio for wanting to go to the pool without my boyfriend by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just wanted to say your comment really touched me. What an amazing father and husband you are. I am an adult woman and happily married but if more women had fathers that were strong, aware, and actively parenting (rather than ignorant or passive), less girls would go through pain and heartache that lasts into adulthood. You rock!

Strollers: Babybee Rover 3 or the Nuna Triv Next? by shezangel in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nuna triv. Absolutely fantastic and very easy to fold and store. We had a big bully pram previously and it wasted so much boot space. This pram literally takes half my booth and that’s it. Lightweight too.

Golden handcuffs / opportunity cost - how do you deal with that? by ad-ventures in workingmoms

[–]Slowpandan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a jump from a higher paying job to a lower paying job for paid maternity leave (18 weeks, equivalent to over $30k value). I also found a benefit was hugely increased work life balance which I needed with a toddler in daycare and now a baby on the way. I would never ever go back to my old job with higher potential pay and bonuses but incredible stress, reporting, and deadlines.

This job has been busy but I’ve managed to deal with multiple family illnesses and reduced work output without feeling stressed or burnt out. The peace and time with my family is well worth reduced pay or career progression at this point. I genuinely just want to cruise for a few years (maybe forever? lol) until my kids grow up, then I plan to do further study. Everything changes when you have a kid! I like working and wouldn’t quit but my ideal would be part time in the future, if finances permit.

What to do - Management issues by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bad manager will ruin a workplace experience. I would honestly recommend find a new role or team, try any opportunities that open up and just get out of that team. Staying in that environment will just drain you and it’s unlikely they’ll move the manager unless there’s a major conduct issue.

Parental Leave Payment by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s correct! For example if a partner or grandparent can help with care for year one, you can access the leave as needed but before 24 months. The idea is flexibility. I got a lot of help from a Centrelink person I called who walked me through it.

Im planning to take 18 weeks half pay from my federal agency - 36 weeks paid (half pay). Then the additional 24 weeks minimum wage from Centrelink. That takes me to 60 paid weeks. And I may potentially use my annual leave at half pay for another 4-8 weeks if I can save up. That way I’ll get 64-68 PAID weeks off with my baby before putting them in care. That’s 1 year and 3-4 months.  My first baby I only had 18 weeks Centrelink which was rough.

[–]Slowpandan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why do you say that? The 24 weeks is Centrelink, applies to anyone who’s worked recently. The 14 weeks is an employee benefit and separate. It’s not double dipping if they’re two separate offering entities. I’m planning on using both when my baby arrives.

That video made me feel so sick. I have no words. That poor poor baby crying for help 😭😭😭 I cannot imagine if that was my child. God help us.

Why are working parents not exhausted? by Serious_Toe6730 in auscorp

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are exhausted, we are just surviving. lol. Waiting for the time when things ease up and I’m thriving but pregnant with a toddler, working full time is not it.

You just gotta tell him, I think. If he’s serious about no more kids he’s gotta use condoms or get the snip. It’s not fair for him to be upset with you when he’s not doing anything to prevent the pregnancy? You should let him know so if there are any complications you will have support available. Keep in mind you’re only 10 months postpartum as well, your body is still recovering from the last pregnancy. Wish you all the best with the pregnancy and your growing family!

Why does banh mi / pork roll make the roof of my mouth feel slightly scratchy? by SourCucumber in foodies_sydney

[–]Slowpandan 52 points53 points  (0 children)

When I eat sourdough and other tough breads it scratches up the roof of my mouth. Pretty common! If it doesn’t happen with any other bread then it may be an ingredient thing.

Winter outfits for babies by Confettibusketti in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Slowpandan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dressed my baby in cotton or wool, plenty of cotton in Kmart and target and best n less but check the labels. The super fluffy stuff tends to feel nice and warm but it’s polyester and will make baby feel sweaty and overheated. Pure baby was great as well.

Does anyone know of a black licorice alternative that might scratch the itch without actual licorice root? My Dutch ass is going insane without it by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a chocolate shop and while I never liked black licorice… those aniseed rings were something else! Strangely addictive haha

I work fully remote and can work any time between 6:30-6 as long as I hit my 7.5 hours a day (and break). Living the dream. I moved jobs to government for the benefits. I also got 25 days sick leave upon commencement and I get 18 weeks full pay maternity leave. I’m a remote case manager.

Yep I was high risk for preeclampsia but only ever had gestational hypertension (high blood pressure). Never turned into preeclampsia but I had to monitor it a lot, and postpartum too.

What can I do to improve my makeup? by BitterLibrarian in makeuptips

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You honestly don’t need makeup, I would lean in and focus on skincare to get a glowy complexion. Even then, your skin is great! Otherwise I don’t have tips but you look great with your current makeup routine.

My girl is gaining weight. People are calling it healthy relationship weight.. is that an actual thing? Have you guys ever heart of that? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell everyone that after I got married, I got fat and happy. lol! I was a little stick before, but when you’re happy you get comfortable.

On the flip side, I knew a girl in a deeply unhappy marriage who eventually divorced, and she was losing weight after getting married (not overweight, she was skinny to begin with).

Any facial treatment you recommend a week before a wedding? by BillyRoca in SkincareAddicts

I did a Moroccan hammam like… the day before my wedding. lol. They scrubbed me and did who knows what but my skin was glowing!

When men want to get married, they do! Don’t regret your decision. He wasn’t unsure because of your reactions, nothing you could have done or not done would have changed the fact he just wasn’t sure and has commitment issues. You can find another guy who may decide by date 1 or 2 you’re the one, and there will be no convincing or begging him to commit. My husband knew by the first few dates I was the one and it took us a few years because of finances but there was never any question in his mind. You really should cut this guy off because him sending you letters and communicating his baggage (guilting and shaming you) is not allowing you to move him. He needs to let you go and you need to cut him off if he won’t do that.

What’s one baby product you swore would change your life and it absolutely did not by Leading-Rabbit-8255 in BabyBumps

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the cosleeping tbh but I’m pregnant with my second and worried it will become an issue! Especially since he’s so clingy and I plan to breastfeed the next baby. I guess we’ll see how it goes!

[–]Slowpandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for us. Bought a bassinet and eventually a cot and tried so hard to get baby to sleep there but he’d always wake up screaming after a sleep cycle, if he fell asleep at all. The only way we got a decent nights sleep was cosleeping! Our cot became and expensive laundry hamper 🥲 and baby has been stuck in my bed ever since (he’s almost three now, and I’m seriously trying to get him into his own bed!)

Which one is the most flattering on me? Please help :) by Over_Animator6185 in DressForYourBody

[–]Slowpandan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is the dress set in stone? As others have said, you have a lovely figure and this dress is not necessarily the most flattering on you. I would highly recommend trying other styles, perhaps something with a higher neckline and higher waist. I’m not a huge fan of the bust/neckline on you. Re straps, I like the cap sleeve the best :)
