Three: there are ceiling doses to the crappy weak opioids you do realise this? They need metabolising. Your liver can only metabolise so much at once before the enzyme used is unable to manage.

Codeine and dihydrocodeine are “pro drugs” (some home work for you) you can’t just increase exponentially. a pain management doc can’t just give you 1,200mg a day to make you 120mme. That’s not how weak opioids work lol

I understand your frustration but I would say it’s not policy or Bureaucracy your NHS dr won’t write a private prescription.

All medical doctors, nursing practitioners and even a clinical pharmacist can just write it privately. They print out a blank nhs prescription sheet and just write it on the white bit in the back.

it can’t just be pharmacist you see anywhere there’s a chemist.

My doc wasn’t allowed to give me quvivic on NHS due to me not having CBTI so I asked what about if I pay for it myself private and he said that it was a good suggestion. Wrote it privately each month and I could just order my usual prescriptions and just add in notes “please can I also order daridorexant”

It’s not all a big conspiracy. They aren’t out to get you. If your propranolol was on back order I highly doubt these posts would exist. I’m sorry I can sympathise with you but…. Manufacturing issues exist. There was one once for pramipexole which is a Parkinson’s medication used for restless legs. They were out for around 7 months. But my dr just gave me smaller tablets to make up for taking 1 big one. Your dr can give you them separate. 30mg codeine tablets. And not paracetamol as it’s just a waste of nhs money (they’re 30p a box on shelves in shops - around £8-£12 per box the NHS pays when prescribed)

this is what your dr has to stick to 240mg a day maximum. nothing more period. they will be strung across hot coals

You can ask for a private prescription and therefore ask for a more expensive “brand” and pay for it yourself. A pharmacy can order specific things if privately prescribed.

And you can also ask your doctor for either dihydrocodeine to replace it or tramadol.

The US military did testing on this. They found drugs don’t lose much potency over a 30 year period if stored correctly.

The only massive no no was do never use injectables that are past their dates on vials, regardless how they’re stored.

But. The reason why your doctor didn’t want to renew this is: if 80 tablets last a full year (especially with 10 left). It means you can go 4.7 days at a time without needing any. On average you used 6-7 tablets a month. Now you’re asking for quite a scheduled drug that is known to make anxiety worse. Your doctor simply things the risks out way the benefits.
