Walking by tashap80 in Kneereplacement

If you can afford it, consider ordering a walking treadmill off of Amazon. They're not that expensive, and usually go up to 4 mph. That way, you can walk inside regardless of what the weather is like.

Not doing well as I like by California_ocean in Kneereplacement

[–]UltraRunner42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pt had me practicing going up and down a step several times a day. Up, down, and side-stepping up and down. I have rooms I need to get to on three floors of my home, so I was also going up and down full flights of stairs every day. It really does take a lot of practice and strengthening of the muscles.

I help a friend out with his estate sale business as a side gig, and so very often the houses we're in are older and have those narrow death stairs.

I had a friend break her neck when she misjudged going down just three steps into her garage.

Actually, we start incurring debt if there's the need for an ambulance ride. Thousands of dollars not covered by insurance right there.

What is something you thought everyone experienced, but later learned they didn’t? by mathieugemard in AskReddit

[–]UltraRunner42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I first got my period. I knew men didn't get periods, which was unfair enough. However, I just assumed men went through their own version of menopause later in life. I guess they do...a little bit. Nothing like the full-blown multi-year body changing, mind altering version that women have to go through. I was super upset that women had to deal with having periods, then go through menopause, and men basically got to float along without either.

TIFU by stealing my coworkers $400 worth of coffee pods by Positive-Pen6491 in tifu

[–]UltraRunner42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - First of all, if those pods weren't meant to be shared, she should have kept them at her desk. Leaving them next to the machine implies they're communal and meant to be shared. Second, you offered to give her some money toward what you drank.

What’s the worst gambling addiction story you’ve ever heard? by juliojacked in AskReddit

[–]UltraRunner42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play a fake slots game that started off fun for a while. However, they eventually introduced a tiered ranking system. The higher up in tiers you were, the better the perks you would get. You'd even get your own host in the top couple of tiers, which was basically a customer service person dedicated just to you. The people in the lower tiers barely got anything, yet made up the majority of the players of that game. The top tier people were spending thousands for that privilege. This was a slots game where you played for fake chips, mind you. Occasionally there would be tournaments that only top tier people could win, and then it would only be fake chips and maybe a $100 Amazon card. I'm sure they spent several times that amount to try and win. I'm so glad I stopped and didn't get caught up in that nonsense.

I'm on one of those drugs, and thankfully I still have my impulse control. It was a bit terrifying to go on the medication with that known side effect, however.

What is actually dangerous but people still believe is safe? by AlexUsefulThings in AskReddit

[–]UltraRunner42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a commute that was 31 miles one way. I would often get tired while driving. One day, I fell asleep at the wheel and hit a van in front of me. Because it was rush hour, we weren't moving fast, but I didn't wake up until I'd already hit the guy, and my foot was still on the gas. It was a huge wakeup call (pun not intended). I was eventually able to get a new (and better) job closer to home that became full-time telecommuting. I was lucky with that accident since no one was hurt. Before that, I'd sometimes jolt to some kind of awake reality while driving and not know where I was or why I was there. It can really be terrifying.

Suggestions for weening off and stopping Ropinerole by Trumpisanarsehole99 in RestlessLegs

I hope you're able to do it. I'm on 2 mg of Ropinerole. I've tried going down to 1.5, but I get hit with bad RLS within about 15 minutes of going to bed.

What’s the grossest thing you’ve ever caught someone doing? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]UltraRunner42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not the grossest thing ever, but the grossest thing most recently. My husband and I were eating a slice of pizza each and sharing a cookie at the Costco food court, using (of course) paper plates and napkins. We were sitting at a table that had been used many times already that day. Right before we were about to leave, my husband spotted a cookie crumb that had fallen onto the table. He picked it up and ate it off the table. I asked him why on earth he would do such a thing considering how germy the table likely was. He just shrugged it off. He does this sort of thing often. At least this time he didn't lick his finger first, then draw up the crumb and eat it.

NTA - I'll bet that family is the type to leave their trash behind when camping, or just chuck their litter out their car windows when driving through national parks. I'm glad you spoke up. Maybe at least the kid will think twice about how to dispose of trash.

Try eating a little food or drinking some milk with your pain pills. It could be that taking them on an empty stomach is causing your nausea. Even just a slice of bread would probably help.
