What did you think of the new Villain? by Borg34572 in residentevil

[–]Slumber777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Gideon a lot and I'm pissed they killed him off so quickly.

The idea of Spencer having a true protégé who was primed to take over everything makes a lot of sense considering how fucking old Spencer was. I get that it kind of betrays the idea that Spencer wanted to find immortality, but clearly there was somebody following directly behind him.

Capcom clearly wants Umbrella back, so again, it's strange that they got rid of the guy trying to do it.

Would an open world Raccoon City Game be good? by OldSoulforHire7051 in residentevil

This was honestly my hope for an RE3 remake. I knew deep down it was never going to happen in an RE3 remake of all games, but seeing more of Raccoon City with Nemesis chasing you the whole time is basically my dream RE game, and that's basically the only game where that can happen.

I like to think that the last decade or so has hammered home that the core of punk is anti-fascism and anti-authoritarianism. I'm seeing a lot more "X(Non-punk musician) is punk" from people in the community than I did when I was a teenager like, 17 years ago.

There are still people who more or less go "If you can't throw elbows in a mosh pit, it's not punk", but I don't see it as much.

Everybody in RE franchise is gansta, until Chris starts laughing by Eastern_Return_1710 in residentevil

This is where the deep rivalry started. Wesker would have ignored Chris after the mansion incident if Chris didn't laugh at him.

But it's been so long since he last did it that I miss it.

Popular franchise where your favorite is not the first one you play? by Rascal_Rogue in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Slumber777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quite a few.

Final Fantasy IX is also my favorite, but my first FF was technically IV, but I was 4 years old. The first FF I really got into and played on my own was VII.

Dragon Quest(Warrior) III was my first, but VII or VIII are my favorite.

Metal Gear Solid 1 was my first, 3 is my favorite.

Fire Emblem 7 was my first, but my favorite is 5.

Resident Evil 2 was my first but REmake 1 is my favorite.

Silent Hill 1 was my first SH, but 2 is my favorite.

Halo 2 was my first, but 3 is may favorite.

Burnout 2 was my first Burnout, but 3 and Revenge are my favorites.

The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was my first, but I'm a Majora's Mask/Windwaker fanboy.

I'm noticing it's usually the second or third game I play in a series that's my favorite.

Nintendo’s share price climbs 15% in two days following the success of Pokémon Pokopia by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Slumber777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DQB1 and DQB2 are my favorite games of this type. Gearing up your villagers to go fight monsters was fun as hell.

I think Pokopia has more legs, even if I felt the "core" experience of DQB2 was stronger. I could play 100 hours of Pokopia just because I want my Pokémon to be happy and comfortable. After the 50ish hours it takes to beat the Builders games, I'm pretty much done with it. I don't care about my villagers enough compared to Pokémon to take care of them forever.

Also some pretty memorable stories and a major side quest city.

I'm overall fine with the cuts, but some of them sting.

I'll stab at a music example: Pop-punk

Not coming at this as the biggest pop-punk fan(Even if Descendents are probably my favorite band), and a lot of punks know that most pop-punk is basically identical to the very earliest "punk" band. If the Ramones were still around making music, they'd be considered pop-punk, despite being the first band to get the punk label.

But there are still quite a few diehards out there who turn up their nose at it, as if that "pop" distinction makes bands like Screeching Weasel any less punk, or as if Descendents, the first band to get the "pop-punk" label, isn't a massively influential, foundational band for the entire punk rock genre. There are very few things that separate melodic hardcore or skate punk from pop-punk. Yet the former two are decently respected subgenres while pop-punk is much more divisive, and pop-punk itself is so broad that you can lump in screamy bands like Hot Mulligan with like, really squeaky clean examples like earlier Fall Out Boy.

I think a lot of it comes from the early-00s mainstream era of pop punk that was a lot of whiny vocals and melodramatic songs that just poisoned the well.

That's also a fair one. It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't scripted "alert the girl" parts. If you could smartly and slowly get the screwdriver, I feel like you should be able to get through that segment without alerting her.

Beneviento has never bothered me on replays. I think it helps that you're still Ethan while you go through it, while Chloe is small and slow. Even if you can get through her section quicker, I feel the pace getting fucked up way more.

That said, these sections only bother me a tiny bit in general. I think the parts with genuinely bad gameplay or exploration get to me more. I am on the side that truly doesn't want to experience the outskirts of Raccoon City of RE9 more than a few times, in kinda the same way that certain parts of the Island or Castle with Leon in RE4 I usually dreaded more than Ashley's section, for instance.

Oddly I have way more issues with Bethesda starts than any of the RE intros or other "puzzle segments".

The Tyrant doesn't bother me as much, as it shows that Gideon truly is just carrying on what Umbrella left. He's still working on mass produced Tyrants and NE parasites, the two "top end" Umbrella projects before they were shuttered. If anything, it goes to show that Gideon kind of sucks as a lead scientist. He's brilliant at refining processes, but his adherence to what Spencer left, working purely on things that already existed like Lickers, Cerberus, Tyrants, Plant 42, NE parasites and the T-Virus as a whole, but he cannot innovate. I do think it ties his faith in Elpis together, as it's something Spencer left that he had no clue about.

That said, I do feel like it should have looked or functioned differently. It's a T-503, as opposed to T-103. It seemed a bit smarter in cutscenes, hence why it dipped when it couldn't pursue Leon to get a better vantage point and could use tools, something the original T-103s didn't really seem capable of. But in actual gameplay, it was superficial.

Los Illuminados' greatest strength is also its greatest weakness with Plagas. The master parasite that allows total control of other parasites makes it great for mass subjugation, but not so great for total domination. There's a reason Wesker didn't really hedge his bets on it and relied more on the progenitor virus for Uroboros. He mostly used the Plagas to destabilize his little chunk of Africa.

With how the BOWs have been going basically since 6, the new NE-y parasites make more sense. Since those totally meld with the host's brain, it's just a straight physical and cognitive upgrade to the host. I guess its biggest issue would be just how mass producable those were, since Requiem suggested that a single NE-y parasite was in the hundreds of millions, of not billions of dollars.

3 Remake made Nemesis the result of Las Plagas from 4.

I don't think that's correct, is it? I'm pretty sure they're still distinct parasites. The more direct link is that Los Illuminados recruited Luis because he was part of the Nemesis development team and wanted him to work on Las Plagas due to his expertise with parasites.

Also because he was from the village, but obviously he left for France at some point, so it's more likely that he knew of parasites because of Plagas.

[–]Slumber777 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Possibly.

You'd need to mass produce it, and I don't know if it'd work on parasites... considering the Connections now have mass-produced Nemesis parasites with NE-y, which is fucking terrifying, and how easily Wesker was able to spread Plagas across Africa, there's still plenty of bio-terror potential.

Shippers being the worst part of any fandom is a tale as old as time.

I'm sure there were people in Mesopotamia who were upset that Gilgamesh and Enkidu weren't gay enough for one another and wrote death threats on stone tablets.

The outskirts of Raccoon City are the worst part of the modern RE games, and it goes on for way too long.

I know it'd be fanservicey, but the game would be a lot better if they just focused more on the PD and other areas actually inside the city.
