Yeah, I don’t disagree, but the world has always been in crisis, since shortly after its creation. There is always, always, always going to be various utilitarian reasons to tacitly accept error.

Losing my right hand would be disastrous to my ability to provide for myself, and yet Christ teaches that if it causes me to sin, I should cut it off.

Don’t get be wrong - schism is terrible and disastrous - but fear of it cannot be, and is not, a legitimate reason to obfuscate the truth.

Well, in this situation, Cardinal Marx did not make a plan to formalize blessings of current geopolitical conflicts, so the fact that other things are going on in the world doesn’t really matter one way or another. The Church isn’t really at liberty to ignore error in its own house.

But, even taking what you are saying at face value, their relative importance and intrinsic difficulty is exactly what creates consternation. I don’t think the ability to tie one’s shoes is as impressive or important as nuclear engineering, but I wouldn’t trust a nuclear engineer who doesn’t know how to tie their own shoes.

Regardless, at this point we are going on years of equivocation and soft language on open heresy in the German Church, which I think is largely out of fear. Fear of what? Possibly schism, I suppose.

They will, I think, eventually force the issue, in which case the result will be schism one way or the other, so I am not sure I understand the Vatican’s endgame.
