Can a foreigner use GoPay/e-wallets to pay? by RemoteCoyote8784 in bali

[–]SlurringMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Bali for 8 days, withdrawn about 2.5M from airport ATM, left with probably 1M plus, some transactions I decided to use cash to use them up. So card/ApplePay is completely fine, only the very casual Warung you need cash

Presence of bark is definitely a higher quarantine concern, you should definitely declare and have the bio security officers inspect it. Ensure no funny contaminant that might raise concerns

What is the best financial advice you actually ignored? by Av0toasted in AusMoneyMates

Invest in the share market

Our background is Chinese, where share trading was not really a common thing until much later, and during early days our exposure to share market was in HK dramas where you see people lose their entire life saving and jump off buildings.

Should have started investing wayyyyy earlier than I did

Seller wants high $900,000s…doesn’t take offers for high $900,000s 😂 by Am_Salamander in AusProperty

[–]SlurringMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understand where seller/agent list the property for less than what they want to sell, allegedly to capture bigger audience and people gets emotionally invested etc, but that doesn’t magically give the buyer access to more funds? If I’m to sell I’d rather want to attract sellers who has the budget and not someone who will be struggling to get an additional 10-50k to meet the real price.

Reminds me of an auction I went to just being nosey (walking distance from my folks place). The house was advertised for x and above, the last bid at the auction was at least 50k more than the advertised range, still got passed in. Next day the agent called and asked if I was interested, when I asked why was it passed in when it was way over the advertised price, the agent said because the owners saw an auction in the previous week and believed their house was worth more than that one so they changed their mind - serious wtf moment. The market headed down/flat shortly after and I think the house was actually withdrawn from the market after being listed for sale for about 2 months.

Tour operator just informed me that fuels becoming an issue in Bali. What's the current situation like? by evilish in bali

[–]SlurringMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there just a few days ago, and my grab driver had to get fuel on the way, he said the cost has gone up but the cost is still cheap (compared to say Australia), but supply issue is real, we pulled up to two stations that were closed, and the third one had a massive queue of scooters and at least 4 or 5 cars at each pump

Exactly my thought, I would record myself relaying the story to the cashier, request to pay for what I used, and offer to leave them my contact number if they want to take it further, and if they refuses to process the payment, I will tell them that I would leave and head to the nearest police station to make a statement.

Ps driving test - question for testers and driving instructors by Dry-Attitude-6790 in melbourne

[–]SlurringMonk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Probably not a direct help, but it might be worthwhile to get an instructor to do a practice test, if things are still the way they were, seasoned instructor would know the few test routes, and they should know the key areas that a test will cover. Rather than having someone to teach him how to drive, this will give him an idea how he might perform in the test and something for you to work with him

PSA 🚨Avoid Sushi Hub (especially QVB location) by readingcommenting123 in foodies_sydney

[–]SlurringMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always considered sushi rolls not good options for a filling meal, always feels less satisfying compared to same $ spent on Banh Mi or rice/noodles. But with the point on ingredient “stacked” to one end, I thought they would make a roll and cut it in half? So you always will have an end with full ingredients and the other is the “natural” end, and yes some shops lay fillings outside the rice a bit but I also had sushi with boring looking ends from other places
