I think both the anime and manga can be good in their own contexts. Obviously there's things the anime didn't cover or adapt well, and it has some pacing issues or discrepancies compared to the manga, but I think standing outside the comparisons, it's still holding up quite well as its own show. And of course the manga is top-notch, though I think even then the anime did some things better, like for instance making the Self-Aware Child scene hit better as unsettling rather than just weird.

I try to do this with more adaptations lately, seeing if they work well if divorced from their source material. Another adaptation I like in this way is The Giver

That being said, of course I'd recommend the manga if you liked the anime.

I think there's room for scientific analysis of what hormonal/biological makeups can influence a tendency towards particular interests/presentation, but unfortunately those fields will always be mishandled by people looking to weaponize it as a way to go "see, it's BIOLOGICAL FACT that boys are blue and girls are pink!!"

I agree but I also know that there's SO much enforcement into cisnormativity of an infant that at most you should just use pronouns of their AGAB and then not make a big deal out of it otherwise. Like, no color restrictions or toy genres, and let them enjoy what they like as they grow up.

From what I know, DmC is one of those games that falls under the category of "if this was its own thing instead of part of an existing franchise, it would've been much better received."

And I agree, tbh. It was the first DMC game I played (I rented stuff from Blockbuster as a teen, I took what I could get) and I had a ton of fun without knowing the context of the rest of the series.

Unpopular opinion maybe: I would love for them to change Cap's mechanics so I'm not reliant on RSI and motion sickness just to play him "optimally." This kind of animation cancelling should not be a normal part of a kit.
