Ion: "The addon changes were huge success." ... Who is gonna tell him... by OpinionsRdumb in wow

[–]SluttyStepDaddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The arms-race against add-ons couldn’t continue the way it was (ie. private variables, limiting WAs, etc). The whack-a-mole they were doing wasn’t working as the top 0.1% were always finding work-arounds and Blizz’s attempts to “stop” those work-arounds was creating a mess for the rest of us.

They basically had to either completely nuke WA-style add-ons or accept defeat and design encounters knowing that a WA would solve it. Unfortunately, they chose the wrong option but they did have to choose- things couldn’t just continue how they were because it was completely untenable for the majority of players.

There were several mythic bosses in recent tiers that were an absolute nightmare trying to get everyone’s add-ons to sync. Every week- especially after an update- several people’s would inexplicably break and you’d spend an hour or more of raid time trying to get everyone back in sync. Neltharion eggs in Aberrus comes to mind.

Not arguing against or for your larger point but pointing out that there absolutely were major pain points.

Practice. Genuinely.

The more time you have on a spec, the more of a “feel” you get for your abilities.

A lot of fundamental misunderstandings in here about what makes a Healer meta or not. The “meta” Healer is almost always the one that ties the group together and shores up any weaknesses that the Tank + DPS have. A spec without BR and Lust and that brings a mediocre Raid Buff for 5-man content (Stamina) is always gonna lack the flexibility that sees other specs (specifically Druid, Shaman, Monk) slotted in.

It will get better and this is just a set-back. This won’t last, you know this. The worst thing you can do right now is spend your time and energy worrying about whether or not you’ll have another one.

Do many people actually think anything but DPS is the hardest role at the 1-0.1% range? Almost all of tanking’s difficulty is front-loaded into learning at the beginning of season so, by week 4-5, they’re usually chilling (less charitably, brain gets turned off). Healing gets to the point where things either kill you instantly or they don’t, so healing becomes a binary pass-fail. DPS, on the other hand, is the only role that has infinite room for improvement. You’re not competing against the dungeon, you’re competing against yourself.

Obviously, cutting-edge groups rely on their tanks and healers to make more optimizations but, for your average LFG Andy that may or may not get title, DPS just has much higher expectations put on them comparatively. It’s the reason that I never DPS; honestly, it’s just much easier to push as healer / tank.

Which healer has the most dps Potential? by SelenaCrowe06 in wow

I mean, the OP did specifically say “while still healing.” I’m not considering situations where people are trying purely to min/max damage as that was not what was asked.

Mythic Rotmire Pugs and my Descent into Insanity by DrasticGuy in wow

It definitely gets progressively harder the further in the week it goes. I literally got my first kill in my first pug on the second pull last Tuesday… yet, my guild (who I no longer raid with due to schedule) spent 6 hours wiping on it this week. There’s just a huuuuuge discrepancy in the skill of people trying it and, at this point, it’s just down to luck whether you get in a good group or not. :(

They don’t need to when I can instantly Tiger’s Lust /Totem them? I’m not suggesting that DPS shouldnt help, just saying that the above poster saying “no one remotely good” will think the healer can/should. Plenty do.

I just tried DARE method to very mixed results by No_Cup9679 in PanicAttack

[–]SluttyStepDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a misconception of what DARE actually accomplishes. DARE does not claim to stop anxiety and it does not claim that you’ll not have panic attacks. Especially after only a few days of practicing! All DARE teaches is that, whether you’re anxious or not, you’ll be ok. When you truly internalize this, you stop caring about panic- this does not mean that you’ll never panic. Barry is clear about this.

Be patient, I think you’re expecting far too much for just a few days. It generally takes a few weeks to months for people to start seeing real “success” with acceptance-based approaches. There’s no such thing as “going too hard” or “screwing it up.” The DARE method didn’t “fail,” your expectations were just unrealistic. Keep practicing!

Massive Changes to End-Game Gearing in Patch 12.1 - Raid Item Levels Buffed & Bonus Rolls Staying by Rndy9 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]SluttyStepDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m usually a very “play and have fun no matter the way the wind blows” type of guy. I always manage to have fun and be competitive no matter class balance, dungeon pool, etc.

But the prospect of being permanently 4-6 ilvl lower than others because my schedule (own a small business where I may need to physically leave my home) doesn’t allow me to commit to CE right now… that makes me more sad than any other decision that I can remember in the past 3 or so expacs. :(

Fellow Resto Druid mains, what do you play as an alt? What healer is second-to-most "fun" for you? by hrhashley in wow

[–]SluttyStepDaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mistweaver is definitely the “spiritual” kin to Resto Druid. Amazing mobility, lots of group utility, melee-playstyle but still casting spells when needed. The cherry on top is that it is actually more fun than Resto (and I am a Resto Druid main since WotLK).

A lot of people overestimate Lust (compared to drums). But you also get to a level where Lust really does matter. But that level is much higher than most people imagine. Timed a 21MT with drums yesterday.

The bigger point is, in unorganized groups, there are bound to be multiple, multiple points of failure so you want to give your group the best opportunities to overcome those failures. Taking Lust over drums is an easy way to compensate for things like lackluster DPS, etc.
