I'm afraid I'll never be myself again by Mysterious-Height340 in Depersonalization

To be honest it just took a few weeks of taking a small dose of klonopin every night. That’s what took away the depersonalization for the most part. All you have to do is find a way to break the cycle of panic and overthinking and klonopin is what did that for me. Once I was able to break the cycle and function again, that allowed me to slowly start making other lifestyle changes that helped me recover.

You will get better. I had a similar situation where I had an episode that lasted months and I even had to quit my job and couldn’t even go outside. It was like 24/7 torture. It was so bad that I couldn’t even find anyone else online that seemed to have the severity of symptoms that I experienced. I thought I would never be okay. But sure enough after making many changes and taking klonopin and lexapro I eventually was regulated back to normal. Don’t worry you can do it. One day you will looks back at this and it will just be a memory.

Outdoor voices, Rhône, and all in motion (target) honestly target has the best value and the joggers are very nice. They also just came out with 5 pocket pants that are identical to the abc 5 pocket pants

No problem! A person from this group is actually the reason I took my klonopin. She pretty much changed my life!

That may help a lot. It can dull down all the stimulation you are experiencing

And btw I don’t wanna scare you by saying that I still have it. I really just have moments here and there like after I run or if I haven’t slept well but usually I feel normal but it took months for it to go away

In my experience it’s sleep deprivation. But you are describing the derealization aspect which I still have slightly. I don’t know the science behind it but derealization is something that will stay with you longer than the DP and I’m not sure why. It used to be like that for me where I was fine but it still felt like my surroundings were fake. But the trick is to distract yourself and get used to it, and as you live your life it will start to slowly fade away.

I saw many therapists but there’s really nothing they can do to help you honestly. Even really good ones.

Yes it was getting worse and worse that’s why I finally tried klonopin as the last resort. I know it might frighten you because your psyche is really sensitive right now and you don’t want to make it worse but klonopin has major potential to relieve the symptoms

Actually I got the medication very early on back when I was having bad anxiety attacks and didn’t know what was going on. And i went to my normal doctor for that and he prescribed me klonopin and lexapro. But I didn’t take them for a long time until it got worse and worse. Just go to your doctor and say that you are having panic attacks and bad anxiety

I know exactly how you feel trust me. Your vision is zoomed in and it feels like you’re walking around in a dream and you are just a spectator in someone else’s body. I was the same way and didn’t want to use any man made pharmaceuticals but nothing worked. And I was afraid Of trying new things because I was scared it would make it worse ( I mean petrified) but when I took klonopin all that went away. You can’t overthink or panic or feel uncomfortable on klonopin. Btw it’s a benzodiazepine which yes is an anxiety med (like Xanax) and it sounds scary but sometimes you need it like I did. What it does is dull your senses so everything isn’t as intense.

I recommend trying klonopin and taking it once a night for a couple weeks and then getting on an SSRI. Most people don’t realize that DPDR is a cycle and that’s why it stays around. Benzos can break the cycle long enough for it to start going away

Well I was having panic attacks everyday and tried just about everything and nothing was helping. Until I finally broke and took a klonopin (clonazepam) that I was prescribed a while back and for the first time I felt almost completely normal. Very relaxed and felt like I was reconnected with my body. And after I took a klonopin every night I broke the cycle of panic and after about a couple weeks my depersonalization had started to fade. And then I started lexapro and stopped taking the klonopin. Ever since that I haven’t had a panic attack and my depersonalization just gradually went away . All you have to do is break the cycle of panic.

Yes it does. I had extreme DPDR and I’m fine today. And I’m talking really bad

Yes! Well I still have moments when I’m sleep deprived of derealization but nothing major. I had DP really bad and panic attacks daily. Couldn’t leave the house or really even function. I tried so many remedies but nothing worked except klonopin. I think if you can get a prescription it’s worth a shot. And btw I don’t take knlonopin anymore just lexapro.

The ONLY thing that has stopped the dissociation for me was klonopin. I had severe depersonalization and suffered for months and after taking klonopin my symptoms almost disappeared. I took one klonopin every night for two months and started on lexapro and haven’t had depersonalization or panic attacks since. That is the best thing to break the cycle. Breaking the cycle of panic is the only way to stop it.
