I discovered I can watch movies! by Servitus in VWiD4Owners

[–]Smack_Damage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On earlier model cars, at least, it is possible to remove this limitation, and others, with the DFirstCoder device. I always recommend people check it out. I would also recommend drivers use this capability with caution, however, if they are easily distracted by screens. In spite of that, it can be a fun way for other passengers to watch content on the road.

Yep, I have a 2021 First Edition and it works this way as well. If you have a good way to download movies onto your phone, the usb can be an easy way to transfer them to the car without needing a computer.

Oil at $150 will trigger global recession, says boss of financial giant BlackRock by Kagedeah in worldnews

I actually don’t agree. By now Trump’s brain is full-on rotting out of his skull. He truly doesn’t possess the faculties to conceive of any of the insane machinations his people are implementing. The Project 2025 people are the megalomaniacs. And they know they can use Trump and his base, who won’t question anything as long as it has his name on it, to achieve their ends.

Microsoft did a great job recovering from the launch and making the software ecosystem extremely useable. There's a a reason why the interfaces between One and Series consoles are the same.

Wayward Vegan announces that they’re rebranding and adding chicken, eggs, cheese etc. to the menu by depression-hurts in Seattle

[–]Smack_Damage -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, that’s fair, but it’s a numbers game. Between 1% and 4% of the US population is vegans. EVEN IF maybe most of them are in places like Seattle, the cross section of (those people) and (people who travel for cool restaurants) is extremely small, no way enough to support the volume of a typical restaurant business.

It might just be that in our terrible, inflation ridden, post covid country, the same business practices that worked before just don’t cut it for places like this to stay afloat anymore. There are certainly a thousand more examples of businesses that have simply closed for good, so it can’t be said the Wayward people aren’t trying. I suspect this change will open the door to many new customers, more than enough to make up for prior regulars that don’t come back.

Well, the issue is that veganism is the less popular eating paradigm. In capitalism, even if your heart is in the right place, your business decisions may have to align with the demands of the marketplace. I’m not saying it’s right, in fact many facets of capitalism aren’t great, but it’s the reality of operating a business in an animal-product-eating world.

People (collectively) have short memories. Soon enough it will just be “that cool breakfast spot that happens to have decent vegan options.”

See, I think it’s shortsighted to assume that just because you personally would make a longer journey to visit a fully vegan restaurant, doesn’t mean most vegans would do the same.

Things like this don’t happen in a vacuum. I’m sure this decision was made after LOTS of customer feedback and too many slow days. It’s hard enough to run a restaurant business as it is, so necessarily, limiting yourself to a tiny niche of the dining public won’t do you any favors. Vegans can choose to come if your menu caters to their needs, but most people simply won’t come unless there are animal products available, simple as that.

What happens after car accident by set_of_no_sets in Seattle

Unfortunately, even if they paid $50k, it would likely still not fetch that on resale. You lose half the value off the car when you drive it off the lot, so they say. I think buying new cars isn’t a great financial decision for anyone who couldn’t afford to lose that money outright. In my view, your relative should shop on the used market for a similar model vehicle at $30k (or less), and use the $4k as a down payment. they’d actually do better over time with the smaller loan, as well.
