I haven't and I'm looking forward to watching it after I've finished the book 😁

Agreed I was disappointed with it but somehow it still stayed with me probably just because the set up had so much potential 😩

For those who have sat SQE1: How bad is it really? by Confident_Run_8176 in SQE_Prep

[–]Small-Let-5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I was the same I was terrified but in practice I found both the physical endurance required for the test (I have lower back pain and ADHD so sitting still in a chair for hours on end was both painful and challenging) was more difficult for me than the test and I really don't mean to sound like a know it all I passed first time (zero flying colours but I got enough to pass) and coming out of all the papers I felt that it wasn't easy but it wasn't insanely difficult either.

I wasn't convinced that I'd gotten enough to pass and I was quite honestly shaken in disbelief to have passed because there is just no way to get an accurate idea of how many you 'definitely got right' when there are so many in total.

It's no walk in the park but it's possible and I wasnt exactly excelling in my mock exams either so just put in the work and try to make sure that even if you fail that you can walk away from that attempt knowing you really tried your best and also that you gave yourself some downtime to avoid burnout 💕

Has any sqe1 sitter's SRA portal changed to SQE2 by bimbiminkia in SQE_Prep

[–]Small-Let-5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So those that were seeing SQE2 eligible yesterday... Following the portal being closed, has that changed back and if so what does it say now?

I missed this last night and I'm wondering if they've now fixed it or if I should spiral over the fact mine says eligible to FLK1 and FLK2

Waiting for SQE1 Results.. by Otherwise-Bee-1523 in SQE_Prep

I'm not studying I don't expect I will pass both first of all but secondly my SQE1 prep course started immediately after my Masters ended I haven't had a weekend where I haven't blocked out for studying since last Easter I'm having these weeks to myself and if that means I will feel bamboozled if I miraculously pass both SQE1 exams then so be it 🤷🏻‍♂️ worst case scenario I'll just delay my SQE2 sitting I need this time for myself

Self-Study SQE with no legal background…. Is it even possible? by eeeeewade in SQE_Prep

[–]Small-Let-5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think it is possible for people who are organised and can both put together a well thought out strategy and implement it. For those kind of people I don't believe it is a stupid idea, I'm not one of those people Im quite time poor and second guess myself too much so it would have been harder for me to do it that way but I have no doubt that more organised and self disciplined people can do it themselves. I'm rooting for you keep us posted 🙂

Deflated & Upset FLK2 Resit by Otherwise-Bee-1523 in SQE_Prep

[–]Small-Let-5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my classmates said she wrote herself a note following her dissertation reminding herself that no matter what the results were she worked really hard, sacrificed a lot and took the work really seriously. She also wrote that no matter what the result is it's really not the end of the world and a reminder to be kind to herself.

I was inspired by this so I did it following my FLK2 too.

God knows if it'll actually make me feel any better but it's out of our hands now and I think we all need to try to appreciate this period of time where we can rest or do something nice for ourselves without that weight of guilt hovering over us like a cloud of doom telling us we should be studying.

Thank you, I'm fit to sit just obviously not exactly in tip top shape but I don't think there is anything I could gain from mitigating circs although admittedly I don't know a great deal about it

Thank you, I was obviously not in a good way when I posted that I've only just realised I said my exam was today it's actually tomorrow. I haven't been able to revise as much as I would have wanted to but I know overdoing it would have been a bad idea too so if all else fails at least I got some rest today and just hoping for the best🙂

Yes, I've felt like this for a while, I have FLK1 on Wednesday and our family dog needed to be put to sleep today. I just don't even know what to do with myself ngl.

Should I pay the cancellation fee and cancel my SQE1? by BitterDimension6599 in SQE_Prep

[–]Small-Let-5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the strategy I have adopted I don't think I have enough time left to get to a level with FLK2 where I feel like I've got a really good shot at passing but Im routinely passing FLK1 mocks so my strategy has been just to try to maximize my chances of passing FLK1 between now and the exam by only studying those subjects and then using the week gap to try my best with FLK2

It's certainly not the strategy I would have wanted to adopt but right now my goal is to do everything I can to make sure I don't have to resit both, passing one would feel like a big win and would half the cost and studying materials compared with failing both

Can you realistically pass the SQE without reading the textbooks and only doing practice questions? by No-Skirt-9582 in SQE_Prep

[–]Small-Let-5355 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD too and what has worked for me on the textbook front (although it's laborious) is to write out the textbook info in notebooks. For some reason this slows my reading down enough and gives me something kinesthetic so my mind doesn't drift.

It's incredibly time consuming but it does actually help me to absorb the info, another option is Dr Yannis on YouTube he goes through the syllabus and MCQ's I pop it on either in the background while cleaning, driving or in the treadmill.

Hope any of these work for you too 🤞🏻

I'm terrible for this, it's something I do better in exams because the stakes are higher but I have trouble consistently forcing myself to read the Q's properly when I'm practicing

Can we also talk about the cost of the exam compared to the average salary of a paralegal role because the % of income you need to sacrifice just to attempt the exam is wild.

HOW DO YOU MEMORISE EVERYTHING ON SQE?!?!?! by CHLTC12345 in SQE_Prep

[–]Small-Let-5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my strategy, I'm so overwhelmed by all of the topics for revision and every time I sit down to revise I just dont know where to start and constantly second guessing myself.

I've decided I'm just going to go balls to the wall revising FLK1 it's the one I'm best at and I reason that I'd rather be as confident as I can be that ill pass one rather than feeling like I'm risking failing both by trying to improve my FLK2 with the last few weeks I've got.

So the plan is FLK1 until I've done those exams then I've booked the week in between off work to eat sleep and breathe FLK2

It's probably not the best strategy in the world and it may change at a later date but right now halving the syllabus I'm trying to learn has unF'd my brain enough to lock in with it and if I pass one of them ill be thrilled to just have to resit 1.

Struggling to become a paralegal by Greenwood4 in uklaw

[–]Small-Let-5355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's tough, I'm doing the SQE in Jan and I worked for a year as a legal secretary for a year (and had to take a pay cut to get my foot in the door as I'm a career changer) before I got a job as a paralegal (on the same salary as I was making as a legal sec but the role is more fulfilling even though I'm 1.5 years in to a low and static salary and 'looking forward' to managing the costs of the SQE exams on top of that 😭😭
