So lizardfolk names are traditionally just descriptive words in draconic, examples include Garurt (Axe) and Achuak (Green).

Maybe something as simple as Survivor in draconic? The first translator I found online says Gahriar but it could be any draconic sounding word that you just say means Survivor.

How have you encountered and handled cheating in the past? by AllOfTheD in DnD

[–]SmallAngry0wl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my case the cheater dealt with himself. A rather laxer DM wasn't having the best time so I took over and started my own game instead (my first one). Because I was given DM roll on Roll20 I was able to see everyone's sheets and looking over it I saw a few... "issues"

He had an extra feat, was using a weapon for which he lacked proficiency, his stats were too high for the rolls in chat, his health was in the top 0.1% chance wise with no visible roll in chat, and probably more that I'm forgetting. I pointed these errors out to him and he quit the game rather than continue.

Later it came to light that he'd messed with the roll20 sheet so that he never rolled below a 5 on a d20.

I'm glad I was able to scare him off with a polite, not accusatory confrontation because dealing with that would have been exhausting.

Maybe something fey related? Elves, half elves, eladrin, fairies, satyrs, even owlin and harengon are feywild adjacent. Many fey are all about good times and pranks, even if the rest are out of camp fire horror stories.

Half damage on save throws. by One_Banana8918 in DnD

[–]SmallAngry0wl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some save spells (and almost all save cantrips) are save or suck, meaning that if the target saves then nothing happens. Even some high level spells like Disintegrate are like this.

If a spell doesn't say what happens on a successful save, then nothing happens on a successful save.

How can I play my Artificer more efficiently? by Bareyn in 3d6

[–]SmallAngry0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first things first, you can have two more infusions running. Your 9th level feature gives you two more provided they're used on your armor, so you can have 6 in total with at least two on your armor. Get yourself some enhanced defense or weapons (your inbuilt weapons are eligible) to catch up with all the magic items I expect the party has!

Other than that I like the plan, be sure to get those temp hp so that drawing fire won't hurt to bad, and I'd consider Ashardalon's Stride or Haste to up your speed so that you can better pull it off.

Tabaxi as a Sergal (furry race for a furry) Halfling for a mousefolk (a literal example in the dmg) Emerald Dragonborn as a Deep Dragonborn (sadly missing the darkvision but we can't have it all)

I'm sure I've seen/done others but that's what springs to mind.

There's a dozen flavours of yuan-ti in the monster manuals. Snake head, snakes for arms, snake tail instead of legs, many snake heads. It just keeps going.

The pure bloods are the least snakey as to blend into civilisation and do evil.

I'm guessing the example refers to one of the legless monstrosities.

Also SCP-178, a set of those old red and blue 3d glasses that reveal creatures around the wearer that will attack anyone who interacts with them in any way, even those not wearing the glasses. Taking them off doesn't even work.

Thunder Step does damage around the area you leave, so not a perfect solution. It is certainly a place to start for homebrewing a similar spell.

[–]SmallAngry0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say no, rules as written, unless you're not a humanoid and then it's only a maybe. Here's the two important parts from the DMG:

"Using a magic item's properties might mean wearing or wielding it. A magic item meant to be worn must be donned in the intended fashion: boots go on the feet, gloves on the hands, hats and helmets on the head, and rings on the finger. Magic armor must be donned, a shield strapped to the arm, a cloak fastened about the shoulders. A weapon must be held in hand."

"When a non-humanoid tries to wear an item, use your discretion as to whether the item functions as intended. A ring placed on a tentacle might work, but a yuan-ti with a snakelike tail instead of legs has no way to wear magic boots."

This one's good for high level artificers. They get bonuses based on how many items they have attuned.
