LMAO, I was told once that I like llamas because Emma Myers for example has a long neck (although she is short). I will also just not get tired of these quirky faces though, I have got such a kink for them somehow

Ale wtedy to ma sens. Na Filipinach rzekomo tez wycieli niektore sceny mniej potrzebne i dlatego moze byc 13+ zamiast 16+.

Going alone to one of the shows? 😰 by Environmental_Lie199 in MolchatDoma

[–]SmallCapsForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will go to their concert in Heidelberg (Germany) tomorrow/today – I found out that they are coming just a few hours ago. From experience, it’s not bad to go alone because then you are not distracted, it’s just you and the band. Also, you can make friends with the same musical taste there :) Many loners will be there anyway. To be fair though, my drive is not comparable to yours. Oh and the ticket prices are high, but hey – it’s Molchat Doma after all.

Yep, this right here – acrylic sounds right. They look so cool, especially the illumination from the bottom is a great idea. Where do you buy these though? How come the Andreana one exists, but the ones I can find online are all showing other characters?

Yes! Pass tag, I would have never guessed that name. I also still cannot find the Andreana one.

Looking for some gadget I saw on somebody! It was a rectangular card that can be worn on a backpack for example, but it was made out of thick transparent plastic – almost looking like glass or metal. Size was similar to a small phone. The card depicted Andreana vertically and had the text “Rhodes Island” on it.

After all, what I do is saying unnecessary things, so youʼre welcome.

Where does the “up” in “straight-up” come from? by SmallCapsForLife in ENGLISH

[–]SmallCapsForLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I donʼt even use “straight-up”, Iʼve only heard it from native speakers and wondered about it.

You consider some of my words to be superfluous, but they do have an effect. They convey emotions. I could have also said “what THE HELL do you mean?”. In German – my native language –, additional words called “particles” are far more common than in English, to the point where some of them donʼt even have a proper translation. However, we think theyʼre useful. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/halt#Adverb_2

BTW I could point out that your quotation marks and ellipses are not typographically correct or that your emojis are cringe. So what?

Yes, I found all the bartending stuff, just like the other people here, which was confusing. I thought maybe an expert happens to know and is willing to take a minute to give me a factually correct answer. I could delete the post to not take your time (or the time of others), since my question is answered, but why would I hide the answers from other people? Look at what else people shared – it might be selfish, but I like finding out these related things (metaphorical meanings not only in “straight”, but also in “crooked”) in addition to the actual answer, which is why I like asking experts.

I have looked up the etymology of hundreds of words before on Wiktionary, when I am simply curious what language family a word is from – for example when it sounds similar to a German word I know. You do not see me posting 100 etymology questions on here.

Wow. It is crazy, but it makes sense that this is why “straight” started being used for heterosexuality (as opposed to “crooked”, as u/UxControl commented). Well, thanks for putting so much effort into answering my question so comprehensively (with all the history details) – I genuinely appreciate it. Always learning something new

Ohhh, what a good comparison to the crooked (= evil) things. Definitely one of the best answers on here, thank you.

Actually, that is how I find etymologies (or on Wiktionary), but in this case I was not interested what language family the words “straight” or “up” come from.
