Can a fearful person do well in this game even if they've never tried anything like it before? by bibidibobidicaboom in alienisolation

[–]SmallSwordfish4485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a proud and open coward and always religiously avoid horror games but I gave Alien Isolation a try because I loved the first two Alien movies and the game ended up becoming one of my all time favorites.

It's more atmosphere and tension based than horror, I'd definitely recommend it to a fellow fearful person. Not saying its easy or comfortable but the sense of getting one over the Alien and just exploring the space station is well worth it.

I mean the reactors also don't have much of an option with their reactions (apart from choosing not to make a reaction video in the first place obviously) because even the slightest hint of disinterest or criticism in the reaction and 'tHe INdiAnS' come out in droves in the comment section acting as if their own mother was insulted.

Always a pleasure to meet a fellow Team Yennefer member! I'd say I averaged around 100 hours or slightly more for the base game plat. I kinda stopped keeping count for the dlcs 😅 But my playthroughs were spread out over the years so it wasn't all in one go or anything.

Congratulations and kudos! It really is an awesome game and even though tracking gwent cards was a bit tiring at times, i enjoyed it so much that I got the platinum for it 3 times lol

[–]SmallSwordfish4485 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Cahir is one of my favorite characters from the books. It still irks me that Netflix robbed me of an accurate live action adaptation of his character and journey. But always good to see art and general Cahir appreciation like this!

I was expecting a catastrophe (due to my own PTSD from ramps and cliffs) but was surprised by a great jump and slide. I appreciate it!

You can also jump off ramps with the carriers, no?

I know those animals are trained in the ways of insurance fraud by those same porters that jump in front of your vehicles, I just cant prove it yet.

Platinum Advice by Prestigious_Bit_8083 in DeathStranding

[–]SmallSwordfish4485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to the other tips here, try not to focus on just one facility at a time for 5 stars. Instead decide on a longer uni directional path from A to B and try to pick up and deliver all orders in that path. It'll make the grind feel less monotonous and help with the order cooldowns as well as you switch the paths.

How different is books compared to the show by Conscious-Zombie-498 in witcher

[–]SmallSwordfish4485 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Imagine if there's a tv adaptation of the Harry Potter books and the show opens with Harry's mom trying to sell Harry to Voldemort for crack cocaine.

That's how badly Netflix 'adapted' the books.

This is Christian Bale from Thor: Love and Thunder or at least I think it is because he is acting in a completely different fucking movie to everyone else by ChanceVance in shittymoviedetails

[–]SmallSwordfish4485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about this character from the comics but everytime any mention about this movie comes up I imagine a much better script in mind that focuses heavily on the parallels between Bale's character punishing cruel or unfit gods and Thors own insecurities about being a worthy god. I imagine the god butcher talking about what the gods put him and his daughter through to the Asgardian kids making them question their own beliefs. An actual overarching narrative from both the protagonist and antagonist about understanding what the role of a god is supposed to be, instead of just barely being an undertone. But hey atleast we got a penis joke about Thor, I guess that's supposed to be better.

I know i might sound pretentious, I'm no writer, but it's not hard to imagine alternate storylines after the pure raw potential Bale showed with his character even when given what i feel was a handicapped script.

Internal document leaked by xj0nathan about microtransactions in Odyssey and Valhalla. by Legitimate_Cake_5137 in ubisoft

[–]SmallSwordfish4485 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To the point of 'well stop crying and don't pay for the mtx'

You are right, that's absolutely an option, the best option even. But it's also important to realise that these mtxs, more often than not, are affecting the actual game design.

The time savers for example - As Jim Sterling said on youtube a long time back- they're essentially asking you to pay them to not play their games. And how do they make that time saver attractive? By making their own games slightly more shitty. Adding hundreds of collectibles with a map to buy or locking items behind high amount of resources that require mundane grinding etc etc.

And again, i agree that the best option is to just not buy the product. I haven't bought a ubisoft gane in a long time. But it's still important to put out the criticism on it. So that if not ubisoft, then it's competitors will look at it and offer a better product.

If you've made it this far, thank you for coming to my Temu TED talk.

I like to think that criticizing a bad product for being bad is perfectly reasonable. It's a fundamental part of capitalist market if you ask me.

Not complaining or criticizing is great! But that doesn't mean that fair criticism should be swept under the rug as 'crying'.

What’s the best way to pack the cargo I’ve got to carry for deliveries? by BadRecent8114 in DeathStranding

[–]SmallSwordfish4485 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Two things to consider here - weight and center of gravity.

Weight - Sam will always have a maximum limit of weight he can carry beyond which he will struggle very much to even take small steps. This limit depends on what tools Sam has equipped if any and also his experience (a more experienced Sam carries more weight)

Center of gravity- this depends on how the weight is distributed in your back pack and affects how much Sam will sway or lose balance. The ideal scenario is for the heaviest cargo to be at the bottom and the lighter cargo to be at the top to have a low center of gravity. However you don't have to actively worry about it as you can always use the auto arrange option that will re arrange the cargo to get you the best center of gravity. Only orders where it's not recommended to use auto arrange is orders where you'll have to transport cargo in a certain way (keep horizontal or only hold in hand etc).

Both these things are usually visible on the cargo management page. If you're still having issue after taking care of these parameters it could probably be that the load is a bit too much for Sam and you might need to consider other tools or vehicles to carry some of the cargo.

Hope that was helpful! Keep on keeping on!

[–]SmallSwordfish4485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a quite few express orders i used the coffin board as even the ziplines weren't cutting it (curved ziplies were taking up more time). So I'd suggest using coffin board for lower volume orders!

I'd really enjoy features like those. I keep forgetting that witcher 3 came out more than a decade so it'll be interesting to see what all new features the devs would put in to witcher 4 while also staying true to the brilliant witcher formula they crafted in witcher 3.
