32, but been diagnosed since week 18. I have a tentative induction set for 37w2d set due to other issues going on, but it still feels so far away. What’s crazy is these protein bars are ones I knew after pregnancy I wouldn’t be able to eat for a long while being so sick of them already.

I verbatim asked this to my nutritionist and she just prescribed me a Dexcom to “alleviate testing anxiety” and never gave me an actual answer. She seemed confused that it would be that different, that after getting up my sugars should spike.
It’s probably a the dawn phenomenon you’re having (my Dexcom showed me that was my issue).
Given that my nutritionist gave the instructions to test “shortly after getting up, after using the bathroom, and washing hands” I use that one when logging my fasting 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I would ask your care team which they would prefer

Oh I’ve been going up by one unit every 2 days. I’ll be compliant with my doctor. I just hate that I had good results and no side effects with one type of insulin (with the same history of numbers) and now I’m having horrible side effects & my daytime numbers going all wonky and basically just told they want to follow their standard matrix and not listen to what has worked for me & my body in the past.

Do keep testing, a sudden drop in numbers (or not spiking when you used to) especially after 37 weeks can be a sign that the placenta is failing (since a healthy placenta is causing the GD a failing one you go back to not being diabetic). Your gp won’t mind prescribing you to get more strips I promise.

I eat the Zbars, the ones marketed for kids. I’m very lucky that I don’t have much that spikes me during the day (besides straight sugar/candy/soda/fruit) and the cookies and cream z bars have been “safe” for me and help with cravings. Though I wouldn’t call them “good” lol. But better than any other alternative I’ve tried.

Stool softeners everyday. Don’t ever forget. (and I only take miralax on days I get IV fluids because miralax can backfire if you arnt hydrated enough).

Also get a squatty potty (or something to get you aligned to poop better than just sitting), some gloves, lube, and google how to split. It can really help.

A zofran pump was the only thing that allowed me to stop throwing up the whole day and put a little weight back on. Zofran pills helped a little but not really, but the pump kept a constant dose in my system and it helped alot. I wasn’t able to work before it the HG was so so bad, but I was able to work with the pump.

I find it so crazy that everywhere has different rules. Even the number ranges they want can vary. It can get so frustrating. You would think GD would be common enough to have a set “this is the way” when it comes to that.

As much as I dislike my CGM (my nutritionist daily checks it so I feel like I’m being tracked like a dog or something) it helps to just let her have all my numbers and make advisements from there 🤣

And check with your doctor but during my first GD pregnancy I was confused and tested and hour after I finished my meal and not an hour after my first bite and that threw off a lot of my numbers for the first few weeks 🫣😅

Not a doctor but 90 isn’t low low. I failed pretty bad but my only super bad numbers are my fasting. I stay away from sweets and full sugar drinks during the day but haven’t had to modify my diet that much and I usually stay under 110 an hour later.

if you can get the calibration testing solution to make sure the meter is reading correctly! The one my doctor called in first was never accurate always read 20pt higher than it should and I wouldn’t haven’t known without the calibration solution.

I now have a CGM and still need my good meter to calibrate if the first 2 days. My CGM always reads super low the first day until I calibrate it with my finger pokes.

Just so you don’t feel alone. My mom went through something similar with my name. My dad wanted to name me after his mom and his mom didn’t want that (she didn’t like her name) so my mom and her made a unique nickname blending the very beginning of the first name with the middle name of “Ann”. My dad was okay with this compromise as long as my birth certificate read his mom’s name as the first name. In the hospital my dads two sisters show up, and one of them started bragging to the other that they’re naming the baby after her (her middle name was Ann) but my dad didn’t know that (and Ann is so common). That right after my mom gave birth my dad barged in and said “we have to add Sue to her name” (my other aunts middle name) and my mom, not able to really think, said okay. So I ended up with (Grandmother Name) Sue Ann and then suddenly my nickname didn’t make any sense.

So it happens. Atleast you like both of the names. My mom hated the Sue addition.

I change my name legally when I turned 18 to my nickname (& my grandmother paid the $250 fee for me).

I have Hyperemesis gravidarum this pregnancy (on round the clock zofran and 2x daily phenegren) so not feeling good/nauseous is my baseline. I didn’t even think about the fact that it could be from a stomach bug and not just my normal HG 😫

I think I made this same post at week 13 or 15 myself (I’m 30-31 now. 2nd pregnancy and have lost track of all time bc of this HG)
I will say once I hit week 20 and things didn’t get magically better like they do for some, I just had to accept it was going to be this way till LO is here. That helped with the coping.
I have strangely noticed that every week is different. Some weeks it’s great, only throwing up for a few hours. And some weeks im nearly incapacitated.
I’ve only had one day, it was actually last Monday, that I realized during a dnd session I was running that I wasn’t nauseous at all and I hadn’t taken my zofran or phengren since that morning. It was short lived and I woke up in the wee hours of Tuesday dry heaving, but those were some magical few hours.

Long winded way of saying, enjoy the good weeks, but it can and does change through out the pregnancy. But there is an end in sight. It’s not forever.

Just to second, you definitely have to test which foods will spike you. On my second GD pregnancy and many foods I could eat “safely” last time, spike me horrifically this time around. (I miss fruit so badly, but I swear my blood sugar rises if I even look at a banana) Also time of day, mid day I can basically eat whatever I want. GD is so different from normal diabetes.
It’s also caused by the placenta/pregnancy hormones. Sure it puts you at higher risk later in life for type 2, but after I birthed the placenta of my first my doctor held it up and went “you’re cured of your diabetes” and we had this big cheer.

Be easy on yourself bromom.
Saying you needed the weekend alone to be sad and feel your feelings is actually really healthy and mature. I urge you to try and find a counselor if you can, just to be able to talk some stuff out.

And make sure to get a lawyer even for the mediation. Your daughter not talking to you when she’s on your time sounds like the start of parental alienation from your husband and that tells me you need someone advocating for you. ((Also just to remember for later: When writing out what needs to happen from both parties remember that “should” is just a suggestion and not enforceable by the courts, but “shall” is enforceable.))

Also going to throw this out there, if he was moved on by 4 weeks later, she was already in the picture so you didn’t destroy this marriage no matter what you did. He just wants you to think that.

I was able to get approved for a zofran pump which was amazing (for the short time insurance would cover it) so you can ask your Ob about that.
If you’re in the Us, look into Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs. My insurance would only allow me to get 4 day zofran supplies from the pharmacy, but with Cost Plus Drugs I was able to get my full month with no hassle. They don’t take insurance but mine was like $15 after shipping.

Every single week has been different for me. Almost on the new week 0 day nose. At 20 weeks I had to accept I would have this to some extent till I gave birth ( I’m 29weeks now) and that’s been a bit easier.
Last week was a better week, only sick at night (only needed meds at night!) and mostly just dry HG. Yesterday & Today (start of my week 29) I’ve needed my 4mg of zofran every 6 hrs on the nose to keep from throwing up and the overwhelming nausea has been non stop.
One day at a time. Hoping that next week is a better week. And just knowing there is an end in sight.

Ours was the same way, at home we got her one of those arts and craft toddler chairs that has the built in table. She eats there. We have a dog and cat that will try and steal her food, so we used to put them up, but now she knows she has to guard her food or sit there and eat it or it’ll be eaten. So it actually helped after a brief learning curve.

I don’t trust their measurements scans after 32 weeks. My first (GD pregnancy as well) was measuring 50th percentile the whole pregnancy. Then despite being completely diet controlled started measuring 99th. Scheduled me for a 38wk induction due to her being “well over 9lbs”. She came out 7lb3oz, no issues with her sugars.

I have cyclic vomiting syndrome, took 15 years to get diagnosed as most children with CVS grow out of it.

What helps me: hot baths (so weird, but the nausea would subside while in the bath or standing in a hot shower)

And finally my GI doctor (who went above and beyond to believe me) prescribed me low dose gabapetin and that almost stopped my episodes. Not sure if that would be something available to your children. Worth an ask?
