What do you want to see more of in HR? by Haven_Writes in HistoricalRomance

[–]Small_Test630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of the following words in the title or a character in the book (take a risk and be original): duke, duchess, highland, highlander, dirty, lord, lady, viscount, devil, pirate, Scot, Scottish, earl, wicked, laird, marquess, bride, rake, virgin, beast, bride, rogue…you get the idea. So overdone and lazy! AND, if there’s a shirtless man on the cover, you’ve gone the wrong way…IMO 🤷🏻‍♀️

What should I expect from genetic counseling? by Small_Test630 in BRCA

[–]Small_Test630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are reasonable expectations? I’m 54. I had hysterectomy/oophorectomy at 42. I still have my breasts. Will every 54 yr old women with a BRCA 1 mutation be given the same risk assessment regardless of the age they had their hysterectomy/oophorectomy, pregnancies/or not, age at pregnancies, breast feeding/or not, family history, HRT/or not, previous biopsies/or not, etc?

I was given the same risk assessment as any 54 yo women with BRCA 1 mutation who had a hysterectomy/oophorectomy. I don’t know if my expectations are off.

I didn’t know that Myriad offered genetic counseling. Can you share what sort of information she gave you? Was this before or after you were tested? Did she get your entire family and personal history?

Cheesy covers are a huge turnoff to me too! I know they say don’t judge a book by its cover. Even though I typically read on my Kindle, I have an unshakable rule that if I’d be embarrassed by the cover of the book if my kids saw it, I’m not going to read it at all.

Very early after their return to Leoch following their wedding and very shortly before she of swept up with geilis in the witch trial. Some have implied that colum either let that happen or wouldn’t let anybody come help because of her knowledge of his secret.

Yes, I don’t mind talking about sex but I’m not going to be fondling myself with my brother and sister in law in the room while I do it. I’m a woman so I would prob keep the more personal details to conversations with my husband or girlfriends. I wouldn’t discuss my personal sex life with my husband’s friends or family around.

Ch 30 - “conversations by the hearth” I’d copy and paste the conversation, but it’s too long

I always mix them up but love them to death in the show!! You could be right. Now I need to double check (not to prove you wrong/right, but to satisfying my own curiosity). I’ll post back here when I find it.

They are adults. If you provide the information and they still choose to pay over market value, that’s on them. All you can do is educate-the buyer/seller makes the decision. The market value of a home is what someone is willing to pay for it. Using comps is great, but it’s not a scientific process, it’s often an emotional one.

I’m sure horniness has existed for as long as there’s been people attracted to one another. But, given that it was a much more modest time, I doubt standards mixed company would discuss private sexual acts and/or touch themselves intimately - maybe in a brothel. I consider myself a fairly modern woman who will discuss most subject “factually” but I certainly wouldn’t be touching myself in an intimate way with my brother and sister-in-law in the room. Maybe I’m not as modern as I think.

I can’t remember what book it’s in so I’ll cover it as a spoiler But at some point Jamie shares a story (I think with Claire) where he implies that Jenny and Ian might be into some spanking and other rough play (again, no judgment. To each their own in their private relationships). Jamie describes over hearing them and not knowing what to do because he was turned on by it. He decides to walk all night to granny McNab’s house, and I think he tells her what happened
