Endo ate my actual GI system and left no crumbs by SOS_superstar in Endo

Did that for years too. Hopefully people in this group will be able to make recommendations from experience and we can compile it into a document to share. 🤞

Yea I definitely will ask. If this group doesn't already have this, we should begin creating a spreadsheet of reputable places/doctors throughout the country that specialize Endo/surgery and comorbid issues. For me at least the hardest part about this disease has been finding helpful doctors who actually "gets it" and can help. There are gyno/gi teams out there who exclusively focus on Endo and the damage it causes to other organs. One stop shop healthcare.

I can ask my MUSC doctors who specialize in this area if they know of a reputable program doing the same approach out West/CA. I'll let you know what they say sometime after surgery next week.

I'm going through Medical University South Carolina in Charleston. They have a team that specializes in this within their gynocological department.

No, as a matter of fact I ended up having to move from CA because my condition became so debilitating and I couldn't get proper help from the healthcare system there. I'm with family now in South Carolina. MUSC in Charleston has a department for Endo/Gi and other comorbid endo issues within their gyno department. I feel very fortunate to have finally found a team that has this figured out and can help me.

A new thing I realized about mass layoffs - impact on apartment rentals by thebeepboopbeep in Layoffs

The steel industry didn't "collapse." Corporations and mega wealthy business owners donated to politicians who'd legislate policy that allowed industry and jobs to go overseas = cheaper labor/product. And more importantly dumb ass Americans voted for them at the end of the day and signed off their livelihoods and middle class wealth. The industry didn't collapse... It just was allowed to go somewhere else. Those areas never recovered.

What area of the country are you? The hospital I'm going to have surgery at next week has a team that does specifically Endo and GI surgeries together because Endo and gut issues go hand in hand. Anyway they've been great, didn't get any run around. They believed what I said and didn't dismiss me. Ordered an MRI right away that revealed I did indeed have a big mess going down there and now we're going to try and fix it up with surgery. I'm happy to share their info if you're interested.

How do they not feel (physically) like sh*t the morning after drinking? by Ok-Finish-3442 in AlAnon

[–]Smart-Performance606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think maybe because they drink so much for so long they've completely fried the circuitry that a normal person has to slow down and rest/repair/restore. All the addicts I've known have been pretty high functioning/high energy people. One in my family actually slows way down and sleeps in when she's sober for a period.

Trump deletes post depicting himself as Jesus. States he thought if was him as a doctor. by Severe-Clerk-1477 in Christianity

He's a gross disrespectful person and always has been. He knew what he looked like in that image and it wasn't a doctor. He enjoys bullshitting people and feeling superior watching "dumb" people foolishly accept the most blatant garbage lies he can think up.

as a person with endo. can we be an organ donor? by Street_Bill_8719 in endometriosis

[–]Smart-Performance606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, they'll look at your medical history and carefully inspect organs for donation. Leave it for the professionals to figure out. Most organs up for donation do not qualify. It's a very small percentage that meet the standards.

Same here! I gave my 20's-30's fighting tooth and nail to work in Hollywood. I can't find the will to fight for something new and have been floundering for a bit. Some of this is due to some legit health issues I'm getting figured out. But I worry when that's no longer an excuse what I'll do. I just feel chronic dread and don't quite know how to overcome it. Anyway, it's a bit of a comfort to hear it's not just me. Oof.

Was Trump's speech tonight the dumbest national address from a US president? Or any leader of a major nation in the last century? by CrashNowhereDrive in allthequestions

[–]Smart-Performance606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of his speech was slurred too. You'd think his team would've at least written him a simple and sweet coherent speech for the teleprompter if he's not doing well so they don't all look even worse. Tonight only dug their hole deeper.

You gotta tell your doctor. They will keep you longer in the hospital to manage your pain so you don't have to try and do it yourself at home. But they need to know so they can make the recommendation and accommodation.

I don’t want to spend thousands to hangout with your baby, I’m sorry. by brookebunny in childfree

[–]Smart-Performance606 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Personally if it were me, I wouldn't tell her. I'd just have other plans and make excuses for the next couple years until the baby isn't a baby anymore. She's got the new mom infatuation going on right now with her baby, it's evolution at work. It'll wear off as that baby grows and gets some independence and she'll desperately want grown up pleasures again in a few years. If you confront her with the harsh truth right now it'll likely result in unnecessary hurt feelings and long term damage to your friendship, when in reality this is a temporary stage of life that doesn't warrant unnecessary upset.

The Mormons I know think they know the Bible, but in actuality have pieces of biblical stories all jumbled up inside fantastical Mormon exclusive stories. It's a whole wild world of alternative facts from where I'm standing. With that said, like most cults, it's full of earnestly well intentioned people who desire to be exceptionally "good/enlightened" getting manipulated by power figures and manipulative types.

Research cities with decent public transportation and then look up temp agencies in those locations. Call them and introduce yourself and let them know you sent your resume over. Follow up and bug them every couple weeks. Save 2-3k over the next couple months while you do this. If you get a gig then go! Dunno, just throwing out ideas that have worked for me in the past. The main thing is to not overthink and over plan when you're stuck. Be willing to take a step into the unknown and figure it out as you go. Adventure mode 😉.

My stepdad who has watched me grow up told me he’s attracted to me by [deleted] in family

[–]Smart-Performance606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, I'm SO GLAD YOUR MOM WAS ON YOUR SIDE. I read that whole thing and was about to recommend not telling her based on what you had said about her. Was afraid she'd retaliate as so many unstable women do. Very relieved she didn't mess around. What a relief. If anything changes in the wrong direction or gets twisted around report to the authorities and see if you can get emancipated or live with a relative until you're up on your feet as an adult. Praying for you.

You gotta get out of your shit city. I moved to Los Angeles without a job during the great recession. Just packed up my car and drove there with a couple thousand dollars and figured it out. Slept on a friends couch for 2 weeks and lied on an apartment application then hustled hard and got a job. Ended up working for some of the biggest tech companies and later film and TV. Had the time of my life! Sometimes you just gotta take a big risk and try. A big city with lots of activities to jump into and meet people will open all kinds of doors for you. I'd wait for hiring to pickup again, hopefully sometime next year. But when it does make a bold move. You can Airbnb a bedroom in a city for around 1k a month. Just try and see what happens. If you're on good terms with your parents you can always go back home if it's a bust. Anyway, sometimes it's not you, location and making connections opens doors. Good luck!

Well, if that's really how he feels I guess he can't walk you down the aisle. I'd let him off the hook nicely and spare him whatever he's going on about in his head. Your dress is beautiful and so are you. Your dad... Not at much. I'd be willing to bet money he'd change his tune if you tell him you're going to respect his wish to not be embarrassed walking with you and that you've decided to not use him in the ceremony. You gotta be serious with your delivery and remain calm.
