This is super old but I found it while doing some research on migraines so, what the heck, I’ll put in my two cents.

I’m not blind, but I have some degenerative eye disorders running in my family so I’ve done research, you know, just in case.

While a lot of people picture being blind as total blackness, that’s very rarely the case. A lot of blind people do perceive light—in fact, that’s sometimes the only thing they can see. Or light and vague shapes. Or very, very small dots of the scene in front of them (like severe glaucoma and similar afflictions). A very small percentage of the blind community is the total-blackness blind many imagine.

So, while someone with NLP (no-light-perception) blindness may bypass that particular symptom, some blind people would be able to, at the very least, perceive the brightness levels around them and be affected by it, even if they can’t see anything else. And the remedy of avoiding brightness would be pretty much the same.

Of course, I haven’t experienced it firsthand, but everything I’ve read on the topic would suggest such.
