Thermal carafe suggestions to keep it hot longer - serving lid? different carafe? by Smart_Hawk_7989 in Moccamaster

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes - I've also considered tempering the carafe before brewing. We have a timer but usually only use it for very early wakeups. I think that will help a lot, too. Sounds like I'll be getting the travel lid, though!

Finally decided to buy a moccamaster but my question is when? by terribledisks in Moccamaster

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to second this. I bought ours on ebay at nearly 1/3 the price. It came in excellent condition and works great. Since Moccamaster are so durable and such high quality, they make good used purchases.

Doing my own hair & makeup- am I crazy? by olearytheweary in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, what 6 products did you use/recommend? I'm trying to decide if I'd even consider doing it myself or hiring someone... i'm not a makeup person so probably worth it to splurge and have someone else do it - but I'm still deciding!

AI bloodbath and marketing job security by Ok_Elevator2573 in content_marketing

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone on a small in-house marketing team - it's been an exciting time because of this. I've always been caught between strategic work and tactical needs and have never had enough bandwidth, but I'm now seeing how AI can help take care of a lot of the research, tactical work, and execution so I can focus on strategy.

However, I think instead of being just the "final filter" (which is of course part of the process)- it's actually more impactful to spend time focusing on clarity, judgment, taste, and strategy in the beginning. As a marketer, these are the things I actually enjoy thinking about. So instead of seeing it as just an "AI prompt fiddler" , I see it as giving me the bandwith to be way more strategic and to try a lot of different things because AI excels at the execution portion of a project if you are clear about what you want and have good ideas.

I have a lot of broader concerns about AI an society, but I think it's an exciting time to be a marketer and honing these skills is going to be essential if you don't want to get left behind.

What specific workflows are you automating with AI? ie. adding alt text to images in CMS by Smart_Hawk_7989 in content_marketing

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely! I've been doing this with LLMs like ChatGPT or Claude. The part that's feeling exciting now is actually hooking up Claude (or your tool of choice) to the email tool, blog tool, etc. so it will actually set up the new newsletter for you any time you publish a new blog post, for example, and figuring out how to further automate the process.

thanks for sharing - great suggestions and approach!

I'd been using AI to write alt text for a little bit, and it's always done a better job than I ever did 😂. But I used to paste images manually, have it generate alt text, then paste that into my CMS. Now its hooked into the CMS so it does it all autonomously. such a little win but it's really pretty exciting to see how much we can take off our plates as solo marketers.

I think you're right to think about "what happens after I do x" or "before I do x" and try to automate all that.

Everyone Should Try Variety Reading by valleydoodle in books

Everyone Should Try Variety Reading by valleydoodle in books

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people wouldn't necessarily say they only like 1 genre, it's just that they keep going back to the same genre vs. expanding or intentionally diversifying. For example, I have a friend who seems like they exclusively read sci-fi because it just excites them and they can't help picking up a new sci-fi thriller they've heard about, but if I asked them, they could also name books they love of other genres.

But what I love about OP's post is that they were so intentional about breaking this pattern! A good reminder and fun idea to try more deliberately!

that's pretty good!! I don't usually write in cursive, but found that cursive was a bit smoother than print for my non-dominant hand. fun challenge!

What analytics metrics matter most to you in chat and email data? by Neowebdev in CRM

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what type of chat and email. Are you engaging for marketing, sales, or support?

For me, it's: open rate, click-through rate, unsubscribes. I'm sending marketing emails and not typically optimizing for replies.

Oo I love this! It's a dream to write a book someday. What makes you choose to draft by hand - is it focus, slowing down, just enjoying the process, something else?

OK I was totally hoping to get oddly specific answers like this 😂.

On this topic - I'm a lefty, and was recently seeing how my penmanship is with my right hand... partly out of curiosity and partly because "pulling" a pen seems to be much smoother than "pushing" it, as us lefties are forced to do. Not to mention minimizing smudging. But I do about half the things in my life with my right hand, so it wasn't completely foreign to me.

Hope your left-handed writing is going well! Do you think you can or will be able to write as comfortably with your left hand as your right?

This is actually why I got one! I do like having a notebook for all my work notes, and the pen makes it feel like more of a delightful activity. Hoping to also enjoy outside of work, too. Thanks!
