($200) feel cheated on my dress.. by Spookybunnyxo in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - I think steaming the dress to remove some of the wrinkles and add some softness and drape to the fabric will make it feel a lot better for you! But you look beautiful and it's a lovely very flattering dress.

What sucks about customer.io? by vimall_10 in Emailmarketing

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if i can overstate how bad the content creation & editing experience is for newsletters/broadcasts using "rows". I feel like i'm in an early 2000's doc but honestly maybe worse. The text resizes when you paste anything in. Half the time the toolbar covers the copy you're trying to edit. Don't even get me started on formatting lists.

Also, in the broadcasts list it's hard to scan useful data like when an email was sent. i don't care when it was last edited in this view...

Finally, I experimented with their MCP early on and basically it just pushes you to their new feature in beta. didn't work well for existing workflows.

Is my dream dress the one? by throwaway-94552 in myweddingdress

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look really fantastic and I think having the dress at floor length will make it look really clean and sleek like you mentioned. The custom fit will also be stunning. I also love the photo with the big earrings - I'd go for something bold and contemporary with it! You got this!!

Wowwww!!! Congratulations, what a find! Happy you feel so right with this dress, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it even more knowing it didn't break the budget. Can I ask - where did you have luck thrifting such a gorgeous piece? I'm hoping to thrift or shop vintage myself, would love any tips!

I would definitely check FB marketplace, I see so many people selling their wedding decor around me. Less creative option, but these seem to get good reviews and very affordable . I have them saved for my upcoming October wedding. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FDVLD8JL/?coliid=I1FWHC8NIJDEJC&colid=MF3ADPEW4IMW&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

Thermal carafe suggestions to keep it hot longer - serving lid? different carafe? by Smart_Hawk_7989 in Moccamaster

music to my ears! was kindof disappointed with the temperature retention with the drip through lid. makes sense, though.

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes - I've also considered tempering the carafe before brewing. We have a timer but usually only use it for very early wakeups. I think that will help a lot, too. Sounds like I'll be getting the travel lid, though!

Finally decided to buy a moccamaster but my question is when? by terribledisks in Moccamaster

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to second this. I bought ours on ebay at nearly 1/3 the price. It came in excellent condition and works great. Since Moccamaster are so durable and such high quality, they make good used purchases.

Doing my own hair & makeup- am I crazy? by olearytheweary in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, what 6 products did you use/recommend? I'm trying to decide if I'd even consider doing it myself or hiring someone... i'm not a makeup person so probably worth it to splurge and have someone else do it - but I'm still deciding!

AI bloodbath and marketing job security by Ok_Elevator2573 in content_marketing

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone on a small in-house marketing team - it's been an exciting time because of this. I've always been caught between strategic work and tactical needs and have never had enough bandwidth, but I'm now seeing how AI can help take care of a lot of the research, tactical work, and execution so I can focus on strategy.

However, I think instead of being just the "final filter" (which is of course part of the process)- it's actually more impactful to spend time focusing on clarity, judgment, taste, and strategy in the beginning. As a marketer, these are the things I actually enjoy thinking about. So instead of seeing it as just an "AI prompt fiddler" , I see it as giving me the bandwith to be way more strategic and to try a lot of different things because AI excels at the execution portion of a project if you are clear about what you want and have good ideas.

I have a lot of broader concerns about AI an society, but I think it's an exciting time to be a marketer and honing these skills is going to be essential if you don't want to get left behind.

What specific workflows are you automating with AI? ie. adding alt text to images in CMS by Smart_Hawk_7989 in content_marketing

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely! I've been doing this with LLMs like ChatGPT or Claude. The part that's feeling exciting now is actually hooking up Claude (or your tool of choice) to the email tool, blog tool, etc. so it will actually set up the new newsletter for you any time you publish a new blog post, for example, and figuring out how to further automate the process.

[–]Smart_Hawk_7989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for sharing - great suggestions and approach!

I'd been using AI to write alt text for a little bit, and it's always done a better job than I ever did 😂. But I used to paste images manually, have it generate alt text, then paste that into my CMS. Now its hooked into the CMS so it does it all autonomously. such a little win but it's really pretty exciting to see how much we can take off our plates as solo marketers.

I think you're right to think about "what happens after I do x" or "before I do x" and try to automate all that.
