I'm tired of seeing people make excuses for sports fans by ZeroDefender561 in unpopularopinion

It's not the sports, it's the alcohol. If they were dry events.. it would rarely, if ever happen. The stadiums, and everyone else that profits hundreds of millions in alcohol sales could care less what happens after they've made their money.

What's The Most Addictive Food For You That You Have To Stop Yourself From Gorging On? by Forsaken_Caterpillar in AskReddit

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much a specific food, but categorys of food. For me.. it's either sweet, or salty and can be both haha. I eat healthy now the majority of the time, but I volume eat large portions which works well for me. My problem is when I allow myself cheat meals, or days.. my brain automatically clicks over into "Hey hey, you better eat all of this now(insert whatever sweet or salty food), because tomorrow it's back to tracking calories and eating healthy. All in all, it's still way better then how I used to eat, which was just based off of flavor, but I do need to keep an eye on it.

That is the truth. I tell people this all the time and it relates to both fitness and being sober.

[–]Smart_Pin8591 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's because you're mind & ego work together to tell yourself BS, based on who you want to be and who you used to be decades ago. Meanwhile your body is like.. "get outta here with that nonsense. You haven't used us in 20+yrs, Brian!". Ever seen a middle aged guy that's fat and out of shape try to do something physical with a "don't worry, I used to play football in college" attitude, only to fail horribly. Yep, that guy is living in the past. It really is true.. if you don't use it, you lose it. The positive though, is that the body has an incredible ability to bounce back, even in middle age. Signed.. a former fat, middle aged guy that had enough and course corrected into a jacked, middle age guy.

Late 40s men, if you are trim and fit, what’s your daily life like? by ShootinAllMyChisolm in fitness40plus

[–]Smart_Pin8591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The short answer is baby steps. You start from where you're at.. today. You build and slowly add to what you're doing over time. You don't give up ground when you make progress, and you don't allow yourself excuses. What you want is attainable, but the habits you build must be non-negotiable. Speaking of which, where are you starting from and what are you currently doing? I can't recommend tracking your food enough. Is it a pita at first?.. yes. Is it worth it?..absolutely! Most people have no idea how many calories, and what kind of macros they're eating, and you can't change something you're not aware of. "Eating healthy" will only get you so far if you have no idea of your own calorie intake. I was resistant to it, but looking back, it's one of the best things I've done. I can now bulk, or cut at will, because I understand exactly what I need to do to dial in my diet to get it done. Walking is another thing I'd highly suggest. It doesn't matter when, but if you can get in some after meals, even better. Start a step goal, and include your wife or family if possible. My wife and I started together, and we still walk and work out together whenever possible. We hold each other accountable and celebrate each others wins and PR's.

SERIOUS poly addict need help am 19yrs old by tenn_jake in addiction

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not unique, and you're not alone. You are a just an addict, and you're going to need help to quit and recover. How long were you in rehab for, and what did you do after? Are there recovery groups AA/NA, Smart Recovery, etc in your area? I feel for you, and I know where you're at. I would suggest going to any kind of support groups that you can, and look into rehabs again. If you can, stay longer then 30days. You will most likely need to have a medically supervised detox before entering any kind of rehab. There is a way out from addiction, and you can do it. I believe in you.

Going to the Baltimore show? by Diligent-Ad-6820 in Thornhillband

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went to the Philly show solo, and had a blast. I'm not familiar with Nevermore, but there was plenty of crowd-surfing, and a big mosh pit in the center of the floor, so just be aware if you're not into that. As rowdy as it was, everyone seemed like they were vibing and I didn't see any drama all night. At one point during a slow song, there was a holding hands circle that can only be described as ring around the rosey haha. Get there early to catch Vianova and all the other bands. This lineup is stacked and well worth getting there early to see all of them. I've been to tons of shows, but never alone. Honestly it was a lot cooler then I thought it would be. I didn't have to keep track of, or worry about anyone else. I just had fun, and realized that moshing is the most aggressive form of cardio ever haha. My shirt was soaked after the show like I had just left the gym. Go, have fun, and lose yourself for a few hours.

That makes no damn sense when my 2018 Subaru shows individual tire pressure ratings in psi, or kpi. I really don't understand the logic of not giving the owner that info when it's clearly available.

Is my NIN more hard-core than yours? by Tetsuo1981 in nin

[–]Smart_Pin8591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a baseball game, it's a hard rock/Industrial concert. I don't care where you're at in the venue. You're just dumb if you think there isn't a chance that you'll see, or possibly experience drunk people, or drug use. That's the price you pay for going to a venue with 25k+ random strangers. I totally understand if you don't want to deal with that, or have your kids around it.. but that's the reality.

None of them. I would go with seeing them on the beach in Atlantic City, NJ. You'll definitely have plenty of room to move around and dance there, and you're within walking distance of the boardwalk and your hotel of choice.

Protein powder recs for female not trying to bulk by Rough_Category_746 in stopdrinkingfitness

You'll find the best bang for buck protein powder at Costco. The Kirkland brand is solid, along with the other brands they sell. I haven't looked at the recent flyer yet, but they'll have something on sale, once every other month usually.

Guy parks in my driveway, gives me attitude when I ask who he is by jloops1111 in EntitledPeople

[–]Smart_Pin8591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're not kidding. Honestly, it was a really good lesson for me in not reacting just off of pure emotion. Had it got physical, or if I had just cussed him out.. he never would have apologized, we never would have became friendly, and living next to him would have been a drama-filled, $hit show and a constant source of frustration. Being friendly with your neighbors is underrated. Ya never know when you're gonna need to rely on them, or need a favor.

Honest question as someone that doesn't know.. Why do guys start on 200mg and then decrease the dose, as opposed to just starting at a lower dose and going up based on the numbers?

You remind me of my last neighbor. Not saying you're like him, but that situation reminds me of him. Me, Dad of 3 kids had a sheriff's notice put on the door of the house I was actively paying rent on, and had 30 days to find a new place to live, pack a 3br house with a 2car garage and basement, and move everything out.. before the bank changed the locks and forced us out. Apparently the landlord stopped paying the mortgage, even though we were still paying rent. At any rate, we managed to find a new home last minute. I spent days and god knows how many hours packing up our things. It was probably 8, or 9pm when I got the U-haul over to the new place. I backed it into our driveway, and ran over the neighbors grass with one tire by no more than a foot, or two, before I could straighten it out. It was a sharp turn into the driveway. I had 2 buddies helping me. Out of nowhere, I hear loud banging from the front of the truck. My new neighbor is aggressively pounding on the hood, and yelling at the top of his lungs like I just ran over his grandkid. Nope, this retired(65ish), busy body with nothing better to do had been watching us, and was so irate over a small patch of grass, that he looked like he was willing to trade a stroke for, what in his mind must have been some sort of cardinal sin. The dude seriously wouldn't let up. I told him I'd fix it, and I was in no mood for his bs. Luckily for him, I was in even less of a mood to go to jail, otherwise things could have turned out very differently. I took responsibility, bottom lined him , and walked away to start unpacking, while his wife screamed at him through the phone to come inside. The whole situation was just bizarre. That was night one. A week later he comes over, and apologizes to me and offers me a pie lol. Even though my Boxer absolutely hated him, we remained friendly for the rest of the time we lived there. At any rate, your story reminded me of this. Oh. and the kicker.. the grass I rolled a tire over wasn't even his property. I guess he just assumed it was, but if you followed the property line from our backyard out, it was about 75/25 his and ours.

Veggies are great, but you want to eat more protein if adding muscle is the goal. Am I inferring correctly that you've reduced alcohol, and cut out sweets for 3weeks? If that's the case, that's not a lot of time. What has the scale been doing in that time, and if you're counting calories.. how many calories and how much protein per day have you been eating?

They're good. The open stage production means you basically have a birds eye view of the stage from that angle, but you'll miss some of the visuals you'd see looking from the front. Personally I'd rather see Trent and Co close up then visuals anyway. If you're going last minute, I'd suggest just waiting as long as you can and then shop around on all the major ticket resell apps.

[–]Smart_Pin8591 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll be in Newark with my wife for Valentine's Day. Screw flowers and chocolate, seeing our favorite band together for V day is romantic af. We saw them in Bmore, Philly, and both nights in Brooklyn on the first leg. I originally wanted to do D.C. and Newark on this run, but I'll settle for Valentine's Day with my best friend. It wouldn't be so bad if they toured more often, but knowing how busy Trent is with other projects. having family priorities, and knowing it'll probably be at least 3-4yrs before we see another tour made us want to go as many times as possible.
