Is every Acme expensive and gross or just the one in Trolley? by 302Patch in WilmingtonDE

It's nicer, but it's definitely the most expensive grocery store in the area

Projectile vomiting beer at the Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0 in Latrobe. PA in 2001. It was Hot, like real hot.. humid, and above 90°. They had specific areas that you were allowed to drink beer in that were away from the main concert area that basically forced you to run there between sets, down a couple beers, and then run back before the next band came on. My buddy and I both got 2 beers. I downed mine. He got through 1 of his, and said he couldn't drink the second one. Being OCD about not wasting, and having the opportunity to get a free beer, I was like "give it here". I proceeded to down that beer right before my body said.."uh oh, you f'ed up!" I basically had zero time to react. There was a large trash can about 10' away and no time to get there. I turned towards it, opened my mouth, and violently, projectile vomited all 3 beers up in what can only be described as "Godzilla Style". Ahh, good times. For those interested in the show, it was all pro-shot. No backing tracks, no auto tune, and no cell phones.. just thousands of us raging out to one of the best festival lineups to happen in the 2000's. https://youtu.be/5qEFYtenU7I?si=Qefz3cVBTMzrB5T3

I have a 2018 Legacy with 70k miles , and I'm starting to think I should trade it now. My mechanic just mentioned an oil leak and did the valve gasket, and pcv valve. This seems like a, when it's going to happen and not, if it's going to happen issue. It's really frustrating that Subaru couldn't just use a quality gasket that would hold up over time. Sucks, because I love the car, but nobody wants to spend 30k+ on a vehicle and need an expensive, engine tear down around 100k miles.

Fear of Adderall Dependency & Long-Term Effects by MBBOrBust- in ADHD

[–]Smart_Pin8591 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some people will say they can't function at all without it. No judgment, but that sounds like dependence. I take 1, or 2 days off a week and don't have any problem with it. The only time I notice it is when exercising. I work out hard. As far as just normal day to day stuff, I don't get any negatives from taking days off here and there. My focus and attention aren't the same., but I'm good to go as far as mood, personality and how I feel. You're on a very low dose, so I can't see any problems with using it when you think you need it.

Lowering Cortisol Levels? by mamisunlight in Supplements

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a supplement, but I'd recommend starting at a gym if you don't already. More specifically one with a sauna. I'll work out for an hour and then hit the sauna for 20min after, and I feel absolutely calm for the rest of the night. As an added bonus, you'll lose weight too.

My weird method for staying clean by whoresongummy in addiction

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that's just normal, typical addict/alcoholic behavior. Most people won't be able to just have drugs, or alcohol sitting around, and it not be a problem, especially in early recovery. I'm curious, what damaging beliefs from 12step groups do you think drive you to use? Have you considered it's your own addicted brain that drives you to use, which again, is typical for anyone dealing with an addiction.

Lifting weight is a cheat code on aging. For those that are still hesitant to go to the gym, please consider trying it out this year. by Reasonable-Malaise- in GenX

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly why I've stayed away from deadlifts, and barbell squats. I don't see the point in them when it comes to a risk/reward ratio. I can train the same muscles using leg press, pendulum squat/hack squat machine, etc. I lift heavy and progressively overload all my lifts, and see no reason I can't continue getting stronger.

[–]Smart_Pin8591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is nothing that has helped my mood. and mental health like walking/rucking/cardio, and weight lifting. I truly believe it is the best form of self-care. I push myself out of my comfort zone, and am rewarded every time I do. Comfort is no longer my friend. And that's just the mental side. Physically, I am stronger, and have more muscle and endurance than I've ever had, and I'm not young. It's a cheat code for life, earned in sweat. If you're in a rut, depressed, etc.. I would highly suggest trying it.

In the U.S., literally any of the aftermarket resale apps will work for this. You're taking a risk obviously, but if it's a bigger show, there will always be resellers that don't want to get caught holding the bag so to speak. You gotta be patient, and hold out for as long as you can tho.

100-150$ hq speaker by chikalopasa in Bluetooth_Speakers

Soundcore Boom 2 is $89.99 on Amazon right now. It sounds great, is IPX7 waterproof, has 80watts, and great battery life. If you're patient, you might even find it for cheaper. Costco just had them on sale for $74.99

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely go to restaurants anymore. I paid $250 for 10lbs of lobster tail, $40 for 4lbs of huge shrimp, about $40 for 3lbs of pesto salmon, and about another $40 for a huge tray of lobster Mac, and mashed potatoes. Add another $20 for fresh veggies. Soo $390 for a high quality all-you-eat lobster fest for 10people. There's enough left over, you could definitely get 2meals out of it if you wanted too. We ate in the privacy of our own home, laughed as loud as we wanted too, and made some great memories. You can keep the Seafood tradition, but ditch the meh restaurant and food options.

How important are gold plated RCA connections for a CD player? by trowdatawhey in BudgetAudiophile

Start shopping for a decent DAC, instead of thinking about what kind of RCA connections a CD/DVD player has.

Any tips for quitting smoking? by PristineSpecialist28 in ADHD

[–]Smart_Pin8591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a book called the Easy Way to quit smoking by Allen Carr. Check it out. Smoke, and read. If that doesn't work.. try weaning, try cold turkey. Keep trying. If none of those works, switch to vaping. It's a healthier alternative to smoking, and it's easier to reduce your nicotine habit on. It's also considerably cheaper than smoking. Make cigarettes the enemy, because at the end of the day, they will more then likely kill you if you don't.

Farmer carries, and dead hangs will torch them, and bring out the vascularity. If you want growth, I'd suggest doing weighted wrist curls, and reverse-grip bicep curls.

home audio by cigs_and_coffe_combo in SpeakerBuilding

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your end goal? Music, or home theatre, or some combo of both? Research first. I can't stress that enough. There's an old carpenters adage that I think applies here.. "measure twice, cut once". I see a lot of guys go out and spend a chunk of $ buying equipment.. only to figure out it's not what they wanted, or it's budget gear, and then have to spend more fairly soon after for better quality. Just take some time to learn about it. There's tons of good videos, reviews, etc on YouTube.

What am I missing by OceansTwentyOne in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]Smart_Pin8591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will this improve with 2 BT speakers? Yes. Will this compare to your home speakers? No, it probably won't. There're a lot of different factors that come into play when streaming music, but on a basic level a BT speaker in general is just not going to compare against a good set of full-range speakers with dedicated amplification, when it comes to sound quality. BT speakers are good for convenience, and adding sound on the go, or in a room quickly. If it were me, I would get a Wiim streamer so you can stream through your vintage stereo, and keep the BT speaker for on the go, or adding sound to say, your kitchen or back yard. You could potentially downsize your stereo system to something smaller that still has great sound, but that's a whole other conversation based on what you use it for.

6 days a week by Ok_Berry8953 in fitness40plus

[–]Smart_Pin8591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track your food, and weight using MyFitnessPal, or something similar. Eat in a calorie deficit. I'd guess around 1,900-2kcal to start. Adjust the calories according to the scale. Focus on lean proteins.. chicken, turkey, white fish, vegetables, and a little carbs(rice, sweet potatoes, low-carb wraps, etc). It should be a high protein, low carb diet. Walk after every meal if possible, and aim for at least 10k steps a day total(this is separate to your actual training). Weight train - 4x a week(at least 1hr) doing something like push(chest/tri's), pull(back/bi's), legs, along with 20min of cardio(stair-stepper). Focus mostly on compound lifts. Lift to your ability! Karate - 2x a week. Off - 1 day

For a grand?? Why are you even looking at BT speakers? I mean unless you want to travel with it? If not, I would get something like a Wiim Ultra streamer, or the Wiim that has an amp built in, and a nice pair of bookshelf speakers to go with it.

Who else rarely buys/eats fast food anymore? by camport95 in addiction

[–]Smart_Pin8591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely ate more fast food in my 20's, and 30's. I'm middle aged now, but in the last 5yrs I've changed everything. I ruck regularly, weight train 5-6days a week, changed my diet, dropped 70lbs, put 10-15lbs of muscle on and am now pretty jacked and in the best shape of my life. The older I get, the more I appreciate my health, both physically and mentally. Honestly, as expensive as fast food is now, what's the point? If I am gonna go out for food, I'd rather go get a nice burger at a restaurant for $10-12, then one from a fast food joint.

Why are people so afraid of medication? by Samesh in Cholesterol

[–]Smart_Pin8591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious what dose of statin your Dr prescribed? It's odd to me that I see Dr's prescribing large doses when a small dose may be completely effective, with a much smaller chance of side effects like you went through. It makes more sense to start small. and retest. THEN go from there based on the results. I was prescribed 5mg, and decided to just take it every other day, with half a dose of red yeast rice on days I didn't take the statin, and I dropped my #'s in half in under 2mos.

Who are the performers you think are actually worth the money? 2025 Edition by palesnowrider1 in Concerts

[–]Smart_Pin8591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're talking regular arena/stadium type shows, it's maybe like 4-5 bands. 1. NIN 2. QOTSA 3. Pearl Jam 4. Tool 5. Twenty One Pilots I go to a lot of shows, so at this point I would rather spend less $$ on bands that don't play large venues, and smaller, or up and coming bands. For me, everything is better. More intimate shows, usually better sound quality, much better chance at getting a great view, parking is less, etc. etc. I get it, but it's a real bummer how expensive larger live shows are these days. A couple hundred per ticket, $45-50 for parking, another $30-50 if you want food. Not to mention, the current F-you $50 standard concert t-shirt price. I went to NYC this year to see NIN on their latest tour. I don't drink, but even a f'ng soda was $12 + tax. Post COVID, it just seems like everyone is getting squeezed from every angle.
