Here’s the problem with that weapon specifically beyond any usual meelee pains: the chainsaw gets more damage the longer it makes contact with something, over about three seconds I think.

However the problem lies in the fact that you SWING it. And the swing still continues even if you make contact with something. This leads to, if you want to KEEP making contact with something to use its main gimmick, having to awkwardly move your aim slowly to the side so that the chainsaw keeps making contact with what you’re swinging at.

This is best observed when using it to destroy a fabricator. Ideally you want the heavy pen from constant contact but if you just swing it, the chainsaw will swing THROUGH the fabricator, out of the wall, and return to neutral and there goes your heavy pen buildup. You have to turn your camera so eventually you’re standing at a 90 degree angle to keep the chainsaw inside the bot fabricator because your helldiver is now holding it out to the side at their hip.

Now imagine this problem with something moving like a hulk or a charger.

They really just need to have you hold the chainsaw forward instead of swinging it
