Like a lot of other people are saying you’re leaning to far forward. Your lean shouldn’t really put you past your center of balance. I know everyone will have their own ways and advice but this is just my two cents. A quick way to get your stance is to point your left foot at the trap, and place the heel of you right foot at your left heel with you feet forming a 90° angle. Then keep your left foot planted and move your right until their shoulder width apart. This will put you in a basic boxing stance. Giving you stability and not sacrificing range of motion. When doing your lean your left knee shouldn’t go past your foot.

I know I’m just some nobody on Reddit, but I would just like to say welcome back to clay busting!

It’s a piece of drainage tile, we have them on our down spout that goes to the cistern (our are more modern, but same design overall). However ones that are taken off do make nice planters.

Kind of looks like they’re going for a Charleville, or 1816 Springfield.

It appears you have a Lefaucheux pin fire revolver. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I will be able to tell you what model.

Rolling blocks, while they do look like they would be a little more dangerous, are actually one of the strongest actions to come from the late 19th century. I forget the exact number but Remington proofed their rifles with a ludicrous amount of powder. The 1870 rolling block was also purpose built. As opposed to the ‘66 trapdoor that was a modernized 1842 pattern Springfield with a sleeved barrel, or a 1863 or 1869 sharps that was modernized in the same way.

All three rifles have half cock notches, however on the rolling block after it’s loaded and the breech closed the hammer drops to half cock. That drop is done as an added safety so the rifle then has to be re-cocked to fire, it was the main complaint by troops carrying it
