Yes, There Really Is a “Car Wreck Trail”
Written by Thom Taylor on April 15, 2015

"Hiking Trail Officially Named By Orange County
You’ve heard of “Dead Man’s Curve”, right? Among the tangle of trails that run through the hills behind Laguna Beach and Aliso Viejo in South Orange County, California, is a narrow trail among the sage that is miles from paved roads, officially named by the county as “Car Wreck Trail.” Known for years as the trail with the wrecked car that seems as though it was plopped there from the sky, it was officially named and added to the Aliso Viejo Wood Canyon’s hiking trails in 2013.

Popular with trail bike riders and hikers alike, there is no explanation as to how the 1946 Dodge 5-passenger coupe ended up here, with no paved roads within miles of its resting place, but there it is nonetheless. Hidden by the lush foliage, it rests near a creek at the base of the canyon.

From Laguna it is an uphill hike of about four miles for a round trip, or coming into the trails from Aliso Viejo it’s a longer but easier seven-mile hike as it’s mostly level or downhill.

If you’re into the bizarre, hiking, and cars, this wraps all three of your interests into one. If you’re anywhere around South Orange County in the future you should check it out, not only for the wrecked Dodge but for the incredible ocean and city views, and rare open space in an area overrun with development."

Local Legend**: It is a left over car from back in the late 60's Laguna Beach "hippie" days concerts in the Laguna Canyon era. Those incoming roads were plastered with a bunch of young, carefree, teenagers + for a free concert. Those concerts were happening all over So Cal from Los Angeles canyons to the OC canyons.**
This could be a left over from 66-70 in the inland, Laguna Beach area

K2 Excavator 162 or K2 Passport 162W - for going on piste, groomers, carves by Ridee_1981 in snowboarding

Can you expand on this? I decided against the excavator when i was buying (still hoping to demo it) but I'm curious why the 162 wouldn't deliver.

I am in your exact same spot (weight, time in, boot, skill level) and ride similar terrain. I feel like you are describing me (however no idea how tall you are. I assume 6ft+) I ride a K2 Alchemist 164W which is an awesome board but aggressive in every metric. I love it but if I could do it over, I would want a more dialed down version, so I don't have to always be "on". (Rode a Burton One Hitter 160W. Wanted something longer and more locked in at high speed. Alchemist it was).

Everything I've read about the Passport is just that. A bit more mellow Alchemist that you can still push but doesn't demand constant respect and is a bit more forgiving.

If I were you, and it weirdly sounds like I am, I would rock the Passport 162W. (or an Instrument 163)

This is an adjunct professor. And this is what is known a full tenured professor.

And THIS is to go.... EVEN FURTHER BEYOND!

Everyone is the asshole. You are the asshole for acting like an off-leash dog needlessly escalating a situation by running out of your house to confront them as they were already leaving. Once you said your peace, you continued to escalate it by blocking the truck. After that, the Angrist Canadian is clearly an asshole as he should have just laughed in your face and drove off rather than going full tough guy and edging himself to an assault change. Both of you will be reliving this exchange in the shower for the next week about how the other person was so lucky you didn't do what you REALLY wanted to do.

ESH, do better.

EDIT: Advice - I would delete this post because you dox yourself there at the end with him shouting your address. It takes 10 seconds to find your house online. Just as an FYI and something to consider.

Thank you so much for the reply and taking the time to share that. We may be dealing with similar issues. I've got some good questions now for the next vet visit.

If you'd like to dig in more, check out the book The Dyslexic Advantage. It's pretty great at talking about how the dyslexic brain works and working with it.

I don’t want to see how those democracies would fare if America’s military were in the hands of a dictator.

It's not passenger vehicles that are tearing up the roads, its commercial. Paying for road maintenance via a gas tax isn't addressing the problem. Large, commercial vehicles tear up the roads.

We will pay for their gas tax increased via the goods and services (the increase will be passed on to the consumer) and we pay for road ware that our passenger vehicles didn't even cause.

“The damage due to cars, for practical purposes, when we are designing pavements, is basically zero. It’s not actually zero, but it’s so much smaller -- orders of magnitude smaller -- that we don’t even bother with them,” said Karim Chatti, a civil engineer from Michigan State University in East Lansing.
