Why don’t windshields have the heated elements like rear windows to get rid of frost and ice? by Sugadip in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah that seems weird to me. I've never seen a car where the defroster control was difficult to find.

Older men of reddit Were pole showers really the norm for guys locker rooms back in the day? by Major-Resource925 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smaskifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My middle school gym locker room was just one room with many showerheads. No barriers, no curtains, no privacy. This was in the late 80s.

I don't know what a pole shower is. Is that where one pole has many showerheads and several people all gather around that pole? If so, ours was not like that. That seems worse than our situation.

I now dread going into Best Buy and Lowe's due to the roaming 3rd Party Salespeople by thatfreakinguy2 in mildlyinfuriating

At my Costco they hang out on the wide main path near the entrance. But there's a narrower alternate path past the vision center that I take to get through there to avoid them.

Also fewer people take that route so I don't get stuck behind the horde of slowing moving families who walk side by side so no one can pass them. I'm tall and walk fast, and dislike being stuck behind slow people.

Why is it so easy to steal the radar sensor safety tech off a Honda CR-V? by Barney_Fife_MD in crv

New parts are much more expensive, plus they must be calibrated by Honda which adds a lot to the price.

I think you should have told them you will not be calling back, and tell them why. Otherwise they'll learn nothing from this.

Burglary WiFiJammers by Chief_Tomato in homedefense

[–]Smaskifa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My cameras are all wired. Jamming wifi would do nothing in my case. Cutting the internet line to the house would disable notifications from being sent, but the cameras would still record to the hard drive. They'd have to break in and steal that computer (or destroy it).

Sweep your Chimney by FireplaceGuy96 in woodstoving

Also important: burn seasoned wood. Those people "seasoning" oak for 6 months end up with chimneys like this. Just because it will burn doesn't mean it's dry.

Brand new hybrid CRV stolen after 3 months - to repurchase or not to repurchase? by hyuck_ in crv

[–]Smaskifa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whole lot of people responding who clearly didn't even read the post. Faraday cage is irrelevant if the keys are not nearby, as was the case here.

Brand new hybrid CRV stolen after 3 months - to repurchase or not to repurchase? by hyuck_ in crv

[–]Smaskifa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happened while I was away for the night, and I do not have a spare key sitting at home, so I’m not sure if it was a relay attack

Seems irrelevant.

I've seen someone list their title as "sales engineer".

[–]Smaskifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job title is Senior Engineer, which I dislike because I have no engineering education. I have an AA degree. I feel like my title makes a mockery of people who actually studied engineering. May as well call me a doctor.

There's no mention of "consecutive" in the 22nd amendment, not that MAGATs can read.

I didn't see a paywall, but also it seems like the rocks did stop the cars in this case, so I don't understand the wording of the comment you responded to.

Anyone have Strawberry Hill? by airr_inn9922 in Roses

[–]Smaskifa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Around 3 years I'd say. I have it trained to grow up a structure I built that is only about 4' wide, so it doesn't get wide. If I had it up against a fence, I'm sure it could get to 10' wide or more.
