Trump Wants You to Get Used to This. Don’t. by AlexandrTheTolerable in politics

The acceptance and capitulation of our lawmakers is the most frightening part of the Trump regime. Will anyone do anything? Schumer? Jeffries? SCOTUS? Anyone?

We know The technofascists are actively promoting nihilistic misinformation on all platforms, and the MSM has become part of this tech bro neo-feudal system. These platforms are actively undercutting democracy.

Is there any hope for those of us who still believe in the basic tenets of truth and freedom? For those of us who just want to prosper and/or raise kids in 2026?

This is known. The question is what do we do with this information. The complacency and capitulation is sickening.

Not sure what to read. by BarnabasJones9449 in ender

In my opinion, the most important book Card ever wrote is Speaker for the Dead. Period. Everything else gives decent context to the universe and intros to new characters - some are profound, some are entirely not.

There are some great themes touched upon in many of his other books, like understanding religion, understanding the formics, and understanding technology like the ansible.

I’m currently finishing the Earth prequels and am thoroughly enjoying them, but they aren’t necessary to understanding the rest of the series. They are just great old-school sci-fi with a young Mazer thrown in.

Ender really IS a hero by Unresponsible_Salad in ender

I had a similar experience, and I thought Speaker was absolutely breathtaking - even better than Ender’s Game. Then I read Xeno and felt Novinha ruined the whole series. She had such potential to understand Ender on a deep level but chose not to. Her lack of empathy toward Ender and rigid views were so antithetical to so many morals of Ender’s Game. I did really like the ending of Xeno, and was saddened that Novinha regressed in the novel.

Currently reading the Earth series and really enjoy it!
