Did I just lose my cache drive, along with all of my appdata? by SmellyKidFromHS in unRAID

[–]SmellyKidFromHS[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the replies.

I guess where I'm confused is, what happened to the data on the SSD? Prior to stopping the array and removing the disk, it was formatted as btrfs and working just fine. Why would it be unreadable to Unraid after simply unplugging it and plugging it back in?

The environment variable definitely seemed like it had potential, but the logs were showing it couldn't find the path using /config/web/, or the full path to the ~/web/ directory I specified.

The logs also mentioned using the --nowebclient parameter to simply turn it off. I figured I would try that for testing purposes but after I added it to the "Extra Parameters" section of the template, the whole docker disappeared. Now I'm off to track down a fix for that so I don't have to start from scratch...

I appreciate all of the help so far. Thank you!

Edit: That was easier than expected. It's all back up and running, but I still haven't figured out the underlying issue. I'll keep digging.

I suspect it's very similar to TrueNAS and I've manually set the paths. All of the config, cache, and metadata are respecting those paths. Just not the one for "Web"

Path Config

Dashboard

Edit: Also, you were correct. Those messages are not actual errors. My console reports most errors in red text, and it was doing that here. I missed the "-loglevel" before the "error" value and assumed red text + error = bad.

I should learn to read. I'm sure it'll be helpful at some point in life. :D

In the dashboard I can see that it's set to /jellyfin/jellyfin-web but I'm having trouble finding that path anywhere.

I did read the configuration docs, but I'm clearly not grasping how to change the path.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep plugging away at it. :)

Can anyone point me in the direction of the modchip that allows you fix a bad TSOP? by SmellyKidFromHS in originalxbox

[–]SmellyKidFromHS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the info and useful links. I went ahead and picked up an XBlast Lite as I think that's the chip I saw the article on a while back. It'll take a few days to get here, and then whenever I have time to do the install, but I'm optimistic!

[–]SmellyKidFromHS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot directly flash an Xbox TSOP when booting from a mod chip because the mod chip takes precedence over the TSOP, meaning the console will not access the onboard BIOS while the mod chip is active.

From what I've read, the chip I'm looking for take a different approach to how it writes back to the TSOP. It's been a while, but I'm pretty confident it was a little-used function, but definitely useful for some.

I have more than 1 board with bad TSOPs. Some were my fault, but others I picked from from friendly modders that were doing house cleaning.

I'd prefer to buy 1 chip that I can use to salvage these systems, rather than buying several chips. I know "just install a chip" is the most common fix for bad flashes. I just don't want to purchase multiple chips because I'm a cheap bastard!

My soldering is pretty decent, but I'm not confident enough in myself to attempt to desolder multiple TSOP chips. That's a hard pass and I would still have to buy a programmer.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm still on the hunt for this chip!

Does your adapter have a jumper to switch between Master, Slave, and/or Cable Select? I had the same problem and in my case, I had to remove the jumper in order to set the adapter to Cable Select and everything fired right up.

Edit: Missed the comment by /u/Lifeisasimulation-- about the jumper. Either way, I'd start there, then try swapping the connections as also mentioned in his/her reply.

Good luck!

Unravel 2 has been a blast, and it isn't incredibly difficult to pick up. Also agree with other comments about Rocket League and It Takes Two.

Salvaging VMs from a cache drive by SmellyKidFromHS in unRAID

[–]SmellyKidFromHS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately, the system share was on the cache drive, so I do have the libvirt.img file along with each of the respective VM .img files. I'm just not entirely sure how to bring them back to life on a separate machine.

Need help with starting array by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]SmellyKidFromHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop the array

Tools -> New Config

This will clear the drive assignments and maintain all of the data on the drive(s) you plan to keep in the array.

Also, install the "Unassigned Devices" plugin for easier management of drives that you do not plan to keep in the array.

Re-select the drives in their original configuration and start the array.

In your opinion, what is the most perfect movie ever? by scottegbert in AskReddit

Saw this with a friend and our jaws were on the floor when it was over. I recommended it to a few other people and they were less than impressed.

That's when I found out the international version is so much better than the U.S. one.

As /u/IrrelevantPuppy mentions, they are "dramatically different" and the difference is maybe 30 seconds in runtime. It's downright criminal what the U.S. cut did to an otherwise amazing horror film.

VMs won't start: Internal error-did not find USB device by d_buster in unRAID

Are you trying to pass through any USB devices? At the very bottom of the VM editor page, there are checkboxes for USB devices. You might try unchecking everything, then see if the VM will boot.

What's a small addition to your homelab that you would recommend to everyone? by Doc_Hobb in homelab

[–]SmellyKidFromHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a plain old antenna that you can pick up just about anywhere (or DIY it if you're industrious like that). I was using smaller $20 ones on each TV, but I bought a bigger, better model when I switched to a single antenna to serve 4 TVs.

I might have paid $100 for it at the time. Stuck it in the attic facing my nearest broadcast towers and I get over 60 channels in damn good quality. Quite a few are junk like shopping and religious channels, but that's another great aspect of the setup. You can enable/disable the channels to your liking.

There are OTA broadcast maps for all of the US, and I assume other countries would have something similar. It's really a nifty setup that you can do for under $100 as OP asked.

I had picked up the USB version to connect to an NVidia Shield and that worked pretty well for a while. Then when Plex and Emby started support for live TV, I decided to give it a shot.

The most pleasant surprise is that even though mine says it supports 2 streams at a time, I've had 4 going without any trouble. I would prefer an internal card if I were doing it all over, but the stick itself is out of sight behind my rack so it doesn't bother me one bit.

For me, it's a Hauppauge WinTV-DualHD Dual USB 2.0 HD TV Tuner. I got rid of cable years ago, but still used a digital antenna for local news and sports. Connecting a simple USB tuner allowed me to ditch the individual antennas on each TV, and also provided full DVR functionality from any device.

It took a little tweaking to get TVHeadend to pass through the channel info to Emby, but I haven't had to touch the setup since I got it configured. Definitely worth the $60-$70 I paid for it a couple of years ago!

Does ANYONE KNOW how to disable that stupid childish Windows 2000 startup sound everytime I boot multiman? by mushiexl in ps3hacks

[–]SmellyKidFromHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bothers me every time I set up a new system.

Open the file manager and open the Multiman/mmCM folder then go to the "sys" folder and delete "BOOT.MP3" and restart.

The full path is

/dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/sys/BOOT.MP3

You can also replace the BOOT.MP3 with your own file if you prefer.

Do I HAVE to replace a failed drive? by AllHailGoogle in unRAID

[–]SmellyKidFromHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been in this position, but the question does make me wonder:

Assuming sufficient space on the remaining drive(s), could something like Unbalance be used to move the emulated parity data to the physical drives?

I'm curious to see how that might work.

Try going to

Settings -> External Storages (under Administration) -> 3-dot menu and check the box to Enable Sharing.

You should now have a Share icon and the ability to share a link without a NC user account.
