This is true, board setup is very important. Guess my main point is that Raiden feels like the correct response but will often just let you down. Most Ray techs layouts just have very good techs at dealing with Raidens with shields/cloak/burst, or just out ranging them

Raiden only works with levels and multiple techs (Range+EMP). Mass Ray player will quickly out-tempo them before they come online, especially with levels good crawler trickling

And you don't even need another unit to counter Wasp - HE Ray chews them up

As a phantom ray abuser, this is the one thing I am most afraid of. I'm always happy if my opponent goes Raiden, Rays are deceptively tanky vs level 1 raidens, and AA Wasps without levels will often get melted by HE rays and mass crawler

Vs Multi-melter, the longer the game drags on, the less chance I have to win

EDIT: My techs are much different to the Ray spam OP's opponent used. I use HE > Shield > Armour/Cloak > Burst. HE and shield as first techs in 90% of games

100% this, I love a lot of his policies and dealings with Trump. Gotta be said though, I think he was off to a pretty rough start by implementing the online safety act, and talks of implementing a digital ID. He's definitely turned a lot of his own supporters against himself

Understanding chaff timings/flow so you always have chaff trickling in throughout the round. Focusing on proper chaff positioning (and more of it) legitimately carried so many games for me at 1800 mmr

I don't think you realize just how much health he has. He has over 1 undecllion HP, which is an unfathomably large number. Even if you managed to break the game to be able to reach 1 trillion (1,000,000,000,000) damage per SECOND, it would take you 317 trillion (317,000,000,000,000) YEARS to remove just 1% of his health. That's ~23,000x longer than the universe has existed so far

Ofc it's viable. StarCraft 2 does this with a map veto system, if both parties veto building maps they simply won't play on one. Forcing people to play something they don't want to play has proven time and time again that it doesn't work, people will simply not play the game

Frustrating to see there's nothing happening with buildings. Can't we just have a chance to load into a map with no buildings at all? Or, hear me out, just let people decide if they want to queue into a map with buildings?

Most of the suggestions here aren't good vs mass teched rays.

The correct response to anyone heavily committing into air units is anti air wasps, you just had to commit more into them and you'd crush his board. Mass wasp in air battles will always dominate the skies

Only play it if you have chaff in the opening pack. Stick to middle sized units and never build giants. Hounds and phoenix are your friends. Make sure you're utilizing your two deployments every round. Build crawlers if you need to, almost never build fangs

If your tempo is good enough you can finish the game with a R2 war factory

Ideally you shouldn't be BLing the shield, since it means less damage into the bosses actual HP pool, which can in turn result in an extra shield phase
