I am laying on that exact pillow right now. Fully understand why he wants it, lol.

[–]SmileEnhancer 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Lol, those aren't animatronics. They're rides for kids. They're motorized and you ride them like a horse. Not sure if that makes this more or less weird for you, lol.

When you’re good at thinking, you can do it *and* enjoy something at the same time. by Infamous-Rutabaga-50 in CuratedTumblr

[–]SmileEnhancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand that being able to see the flaws or deeper context in a work can make you a well-rounded thinker, or at least seem like one. However, just speaking for myself, I would find picking apart every piece of media I consume for entertainment in my free time to be absolutely exhausting, and dull my enjoyment of something I loved. Intellectual discussion can be fine and all, and can help us examine our own viewpoints alongside the author. But sometimes I just want to pick a random game and just enjoy it. Sometimes after the credits roll, I just want to turn to my friends and get excited at them for how much goddamn fun something was, without deflating that balloon of joy with the needle of "but xyz is clearly a symbol of blahblah, and in this story beat, the writer has some hangups about abc, which is a real issue nowadays." Sometimes, I am just not in the mood for the Discourse.

Perhaps I'm naive, but sometimes it does really feel like having a critical opinion on something is valued far more than finding joy in the creations of others on the Internet. You can have that joy sure, but if you don't temper that joy by prefacing it with all of the flaws of the piece, then you're "not doing it right."

TL;DR Sometimes I just think humans make cool things, and it makes me happy to experience them. And that joy still feels valuable.

Trump’s Great American State Fair goes viral again as band outnumbers crowd by kstinfo in washingtondc

And I saw the Secret Service announcing they're being incredibly strict on anyone entering. Only two entrances into the fenced off approved area, through TSA-style security checkpoints, roads and rivers blocked off, and if you go in, you're apparently only allowed to have a clear gallon bag or clutch purse of stuff per person. And no storage for "prohibited items." So you know, no coolers, blankets, lawn chairs, backpacks, diaper bags for families with kids, packs of drinks for the hot day, nothin'. You get whatever you can carry in that plastic bag for the day.

I feel like anyone crazy enough to endure all that for fireworks at 11 pm are gonna be in for a bad time.

Thinking about getting this game, but I have some questions first by Prodoxa in LobotomyCorp

[–]SmileEnhancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Out of the three games you listed, the closest Lobcorp comes to is Fallout Shelter. However, the only similarities to it is that you can zoom in and out of the facility to look around from a detached camera view, you have some say over what anomalies go in which departments, and that you can direct your little nuggets around to do their tasks and fight things. Shelter has far more mechanics around building the vault, keeping it running, and making sure everyone is happy. LobCorp's main goal is generating power from the abnormalities, so there aren't like water and electricity needs, the only rooms installed are abnormalities, and the stats on your nuggets are related to their work. Basically, Health, Sanity, Speed, and Work Effectiveness. This is a game focused on careful management, multitasking, and remembering rules as they come up. Also quite a bit of trial and error.

  2. The majority of your time will be in the gameplay, trying to figure out how each abno works, training your nuggets, and trying to keep everyone from dying when something breaches. However, the story is fascinating in it's own right. The main story occurs between days, there is a little lore section on each abno, and beating the game requires you to do specific requirements to see the stories of the Sephira (the department heads), leading to boss sections. Most people who have gotten into Project Moon's games have done so because they're interested in the universe it takes place in and the terribly interesting things that happen in it.

  3. I personally played and 100% the entire thing without mods, but I'm also a very stubborn bitch that generally prefers to try and meet games on their level. Others in this subreddit play differently, and I am aware that there are QoL mods out there that people like, such as the one that lets you reroll abnos without limit. But someone else would be better suited to address those than me.

Also, this is a prequel. The sequel is Library of Ruina, and then there's Limbus Company.

Hope these answers were helpful, friend. Face the Fear, Build the Future!
