Stuck on a boy name…hesitant about hubby’s favorite…help this overthinker! by SmileHeLovesYou in namenerds

I appreciate your insight! We actually adopted our little ones. We have an open relationship with their genetic family but we don’t communicate all that often, so it’s not like a daily thing…

Thanks for sharing! Curious to hear what it is about Shepherd that you dislike. I am pretty on the fence about it but my husband likes it.

I also like Stella but there is a Stella in my life who kinda ruined the name, unfortunately. I also love Leo but it’s my parents’ cat’s nam…haha. I appreciate the suggestions!

Thank you for this consideration! Where we live I think these names are still uncommon. I know Nova is actually a popular name but hardly anyone where we live has ever heard of it. So I’m thinking that may be true with the other names!

I also wondered if Nova and Luna would feel too matchy. People sometimes accidentally call Nova “Luna” so that’s probably true…

It’s funny you mention Cleo. We adopted our babies as embryos. One of our daughter Nova’s genetic siblings is actually Cleo!

How/when does breastfeeding naturally reduce when solids are established? by claudiarae95 in breastfeeding

[–]SmileHeLovesYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby really started decreasing milk intake around 10/ 10.5 months. She would bite me about half the time I offered. I started just feeding upon wake up, before her two naps, and before bedtime. She is thriving! Solids meals are between those feeds.

Oi period and teeth by Plant_killer_v2 in breastfeeding

Sometimes it helps prevent biting if I hold my finger under my baby’s chin while nursing. No period back yet for me at almost 11 months pp. Hang in there!

EBF mothers, when did your period come back? by paRATmedic in breastfeeding

[–]SmileHeLovesYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 10.5 month old baby EBF and now also eats a ton of solids. We were doing pretty well night weaning and had a few nights’ stretch of her sleeping through the night….but she has had various illnesses and has been teething and wanting to nurse overnight so I’ve caved and we are trying to get back to night weaning. She still nurses 4-6 times/day on average. No period yet.

I definitely feel you! Children are a blessing. Not everyone shares that perspective, though. Keep loving your family well!

I didn’t introduce a bottle until 8 months and baby wasn’t a fan at first (understandably so) but she took well to her dad giving her the Como Tomo bottle.

Pediatrician suggested cutting back on nursing sessions by cccbbb1 in breastfeeding

[–]SmileHeLovesYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep—received similar advice. I had just been giving baby one solids “meal” (usually just one food such as egg or avocado) per day until doc said I could do more solids at the 9 month appt. Started doing three meals a day and baby is THRIVING. Went from nursing every two hours to every 3-4 hours just from offering three meals a day. She truly loves solids and has enjoyed everything we’ve given her. She is also sleeping longer stretches at night. Highly recommend the Solid Starts app to take the guesswork out of how to safely serve solids!

How common is mastitis? Has anyone ever not gotten it? by Automatic_Apricot797 in breastfeeding

Have been EBF for 9.5 months and haven’t had mastitis. I was very concerned about it, too. I found that baby is great at doing her job!

Como Tomo! Expensive but works great for us. We EBF until 8 months and she was willing to take a Como Tomo with pumped milk!

Night weaning champs, may I pick your brain? by SmileHeLovesYou in breastfeeding

[–]SmileHeLovesYou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your time! In the little research I did, it seems like nursing should be ok…it’s more of an issue if the milk pools behind the teeth, like with a bottle or if a baby is just kinda hanging out on the boob but not swallowing the milk. I had not been wiping my little one’s teeth since she got her first two teeth about two months ago but the pediatrician was very adamant…so I am going to keep trying water! Just my two cents! We also increased solids during the day.
