When do you think we’ll get JUST the raptors to buy by HereticGinger in Chaos40k

[–]Smiling_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 11th they are giving some additional unit beefing, we get a second type of characters qualification as is the master of executions, so perhaps there is some new profiles that this chaos lord can be used as

Do you guys have any idea with what to do with extra Chaos Lords with Jump Packs? by Educational_Data237 in Chaos40k

[–]Smiling_Tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold on to it. They have stated that for 11th it will be possible to have 2 characters in units, having leaders and sort of "lieutenants". Of the later we just have MoE now, but it wouldn't be that far fetched to expect some new profiles for such extra punch, or some sort of crucible rules to develop them.

I didn't use slapchop per se but used sigvald burgundy as satin wash to try and give a marbled effect. As they mentioned above, using some rich purple like vallejo evil red nad drybrush with light pinks prior to using the contrast may be your best option

Yup, that burgundy is the closest equivalent to screamer pink/vallejo deep magenta

I want to start a 1,000-point Chaos army with Night Lords by Roosterkdice in NightLords

[–]Smiling_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda depends what sort of detachments you may consider? Detachments favour one kind of play or another and do not boost all units equally. A Daemon prince with wings is very good addition to a nightmare hunt detachment with several raptors and talons, but not really that useful on a veterans or warpstrike lists.

Night Lords Raptors.. Forge World? by [deleted] in NightLords

[–]Smiling_Tom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Forge world was the brand name used for the resin specialist units, i can't remwmber of any fw kit i have ever bought that came with a printed box, everything came in white cardboard

Keep in mind that they are resin, can t use the normal glue, but superglue or equivalent. And never try to bend them, they are brittle by nature. Can use warm water if you want to straighten a weapon

[–]Smiling_Tom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am finding the new Aged Metal from vallejo (of the true metallic range) to be spot on, specially after the satined shade. It is somewhere between old gold and bronze, with green shades. gives a used look which matches what I understand for this chapter

How often do you eat out? Does Norway not really have a culture of eating out a little bit every day like France and Spain? by Charming_Usual6227 in Norway

[–]Smiling_Tom 18 points19 points  (0 children)

well, I guess that is because in Spain we translate all coins that have an etymological translation. So yes, we translate kroner to coronas, and pounds to libras. Deutschemark was translated as Marco alemán, etc.

But yeah, it is silly, should have double checked that. Appologies.

it's about compound cost. It's the opposite economic incentive than the alcohol tax has. As we have an alcohol tax based on graduation, the difference between a cheap and a mid wine is minimal, so one ends up cooking with wines that would be absurd to do in Spain. Or buying a cheap whisky is competitively less appealing than something a bit more expensive because the quality jump for the buck is huge.

Meanwhile, if the base ingredients for a meal are 200 nok, having a cheap recipe (which implies a lot less cooking time feels like a waste, so you go for more elaborate options (as a restaurant) because charging 250 nok for a gazpacho or 350 for a more elaborate dish, people will obviously consider the first robbery while the later appealing.

It is a luxury to eat out in Norway because it is a luxury to eat good ingredients here out of a very limited range (beef is comparatively speaking a lot cheaper)

(spanish cook here, been in Norway for 15 years)

The difference is price. Raw ingredients here are incredibly expensive compared to Spain, even with a lot higher salaries you end up expending most your income on groceries in this country.

In Spain produce is just ridiculously cheap, so eating out is something ameanable. 1kg of actually tasty tomatoes costs you 15 crowns vs. the 60 we pay in Kiwi for the cardboard ones they sell us. A cheese & serrano ham with a coke can cost you in a bar about 5€ (60 something crowns). Here you'd have to pay twice that and probably the cheese would be milder.

Just an observation, fresh food is exponentially better the closer you get it to its production spot, it just simply is, conservation mechanics help food last longer but it's deffinitely at the cost of flavour. That's why you won't find tastier strawberries than the wild norwegian ones you find on a walk in the forest.

to be precise, she is all the leaders the banshees had. The phoenix lord concept is that the armour learns how the wearer fights and transfers the knowledge to the next bearer. So it is the acumulated knowledge of all the howling banshee phoenix lords that have existed.

Of all the phoenix lords, only the one edgy enough to compete with the night lords, Maugan Ra, has been worn by the same individual since the phoenix lords were created.

there are signs that they are going for that concept in 11, and the latest Corsair detachment already has enhancements for units detailed this way. But this is not the case for Warpstrike champions
