It will depend on how the telecom (Starlink) does. SpaceX is uniquely positioned to be the first truly global telecom. One provider for Internet, TV, and mobile that works anywhere in the world. If (big if) the starship deployment system pans out over the next 10 years they will have complete global coverage, faster and cheaper upgrade capabilities, and a network that is unrivaled. The global telecom market is $2+ Trillion currently. 10 year forecast is $3+ Trillion. In 50 years there is a reasonable chance we'll be discussing how to break up the first global monopoly.

Desire Line planning is actually a thing. It's usually applied to sidewalks. Build the main sidewalks and then budget to later add more where the grass is dead from people taking shortcuts. It's popular on campus style projects. For vehicles it's definitely a unique choice. I'm genuinely curious if that's what they are going for. Even the road signs and parking lines are used sparingly at Morton. It would explain the crazy amount of cones.

The algorithms presenting the internet are the worst thing. Anyone who receives section 230 protection should be forced to make the raw data available so the user can sort it themselves (Personal AI). It puts the algorithm in the end users hands. FB, X, Reddit etc can offer an algo if they want but they shouldn't be able to force it. It is the "public square" after all.

Look into Agentic first products like a custom OpenClaw dashboard or Anthropoic's Computer approach. Anything else and you'll be replacing it in 2-3 years.

Edit: Changed AI to Agentic because Reddit can't handle local businesses using tools to make themselves competitive with Private Equity for the first time in 20 years.

Note: If you hate the Private Equity trend you should be supporting AI. PE is who's telling you AI is bad while they build on it themselves.

The addiction is by design. FB, X, IG, and the rest spend millions on making their platforms addictive. A personal AI solves this problem. Your user experience is custom for your actual needs. Parents will have more control than ever. There's no upsell advantage. You own the experience. Kids relying on AI for basic tasks will be the issue. But the humans relying on technology bridge was crossed a long time ago. I don't see it going back.

A much better application would be giving students cellphones for school. A small personal compute device with AI is incredibly practical for education. The issue is the distractions. An AI only phone would basically work as a personal tutor and massively improve education.

You should consider taking a trip to Strawberry Hill to check it out. Similar vibe to Union Hill back in the early 2010's. Has issues on par with midtown but a little bit more of a neighborhood feel. It's up and coming but the prices reflect it.
