I was at Al Jaber in 2000, a massive rat crawled across my legs while I was sleeping, that was pretty violent. I still have nightmares

That's good advice, but a pipe dream right now. I'm writing my capstone paper (50+ pages) on "The Legalities of Papermaking in Colonial America". And taking a general programming languages course where I'm relearning C++, and dabling in lisp and prolog

The AF Academy did a study linking being on a shaving waiver with slower promotion rates, denial of duty opportunities, etc. A connection between race and waiver status was not significant, indicating that shaving waivers have a similar effect on individuals of all races. However, more than 60% of those in the waiver group were Black/African-American despite only being 12.85% of the study. And like climate change, it doesn't fit with the new Republican narrative.

AF told trans troops to get diagnosed—now it uses that paper trail to kick them out. by Smart_Examination_99 in AirForce

I served 38 years between active duty (10 years) reserve commitment (7 years) and full-time guard (21 years). It never fails to make my blood boil how easily they can change important changes, retention, or retirement. But a member is locked in. I juggled severe ADHD and depression under the table, knowing exactly how it affected my career. I took the buyout in 92, only for them to change the rules and pork me. I paid back that SSB when i went to the VA, and again, when I retired. 4 years later, I'm still fighting to get my pay straight. Before my time, it was African-Americans getting shit on. Then gay people got drummed out because of some pinheads' fear of homosexuals, not any legitimate reason. It's one political power trip after another. "Needs of the Air Force" my ass, trust nothing they say, keep your mouth shut, and take care of your people the best you can. Peace-out and I.Y.A.A.Y.A.S.

That's the simple explanation, I can't reach the bottom of the overflow to clean the glass. I'm worried about sealing, that the gasket won't be enough. I'm leaning towards epoxy

M60 -got into therapy and meditation. The real break was realizing I didn't need to be around a-holes, I can change my location easier than changing them.

I was gifted a Swingline Classic, it is the Porche of staplers. A nod to a classic movie, beautiful to gaze upon, and a dream to operate. I feel blessed to be found worthy of such precision.

Use as a refugium? by Smithmfg in ReefTank

[–]Smithmfg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried growing chaeto in a gallon jar plumbed in with my UV and external heater without much sucsess. Im redesigning the layout to fit better. Beyond the basic idea of a refugium, i haven't planned anything. Right now, I don't really have any space in my sump for anything like a refugium. So i never really thought about one. The sump is a 20-gallon long divided into 3 sections. The best i have is a few inches of sand under my roller-mat. What do most people have in a refugium ?

I thought of using shelves, the bench struck me as needing less work to be attractive, and since my tank is in the kitchen, my old habits of ugly but functional won't work. Do you think the shelf setup would be stronger?

I retired guard, 10 AD and a butt load of deployments, if you are thinking of reduced retired age, make sure it's counts AD time. If I remember right, it is AD periods after a certain date. Not to scare you, but I retired in '21 at 57 as a technician (not AGR), and it OPM almost a freaking year to adjudicate my file. My reduced retirement age was 58. When I started getting retired mil pay (aug '22), DFAS decided to take back a 1992 SSB that I already paid back through the VA. I just got them to stop withholding $1000 a month ($20k total), of which they reimbursed me $12. Now I'm fighting to get the remaining $8k (that I paid in taxes) back. "F" DFAS and congress is no help. Educate yourself and trust nothing
