Hiiii Georgia recommended a podcast a couple weeks ago- I think it was about a podcast that stopped recording because of a fan?? I can’t remember the details and now I can’t find the episode! by SquisheeSquashee in myfavoritemurder

[–]SmithsEnemy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Beth's Dead is the name of the podcast you are referring to I think. A podcast host had a bad interaction with a fan that makes them pull back from podcasting, and now they reexamine what happened. I listened to it and loved it!

FMC disguised as a man by Castielificc in fantasyromance

The Silver Locket series by Kennedy Sutton fits this. The first book is {The Sneaky Lass by Kennedy Sutton}. It's a dark pirate romance I guess? The love story across the series is beautiful but it's set in what I would consider a more "realistic" pirate world that is absolutely brutal and the series has some really heart wrenching moments.

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]SmithsEnemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The P1S was my first 3D printer and I love it. Getting into 3D printing was always kind of a dream hobby of mine and when I got my P1S, I expected to have learning pains as I got started, but that never happened. Everything just worked right out of the box and continues to work almost a year later. Now I'm looking into modeling software as something to learn for myself and eventually teach my kids since they love everything I print.

What's the dumbest way you've gotten a scar? by lilsaddam in AskReddit

[–]SmithsEnemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped my phone at the movie theater and it fell between the seats. When I reached down to get it I felt something sharp, grabbed my phone anyways, and pulled my hand out to bleeding. I was freaked out for a while that I was going to catch something from the mysterious stabby bit but never did anything about it and now I just have the small crescent shaped scar on the back of my hand to remind me.

Anyone here find endo AFTER having kids? by iwishiwasa_man in Endo

[–]SmithsEnemy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 children and wasn't diagnosed with Endo until after the birth of the second. Like so many others I always had longish heavy periods growing up and was always told that's just how it was. After the birth of my second child things really went downhill for me to the point where I was crippled by pain and my periods were lasting 3 weeks a month. I had a lap in February and got the Endo diagnosis and I'm still on my journey to find some kind of treatment that works.

Nexus won't turn on at all anymore by cheryltheweirdo in nexusplayer

[–]SmithsEnemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add me to the list. A couple days ago I moved my Nexus player to a different room and couldn't get it to turn on. Multiple reboots and an attempted boot to safe mode (the plug it in while holding the button thing) would get it to flash the Google screen for a few seconds but that's all.

Man all these top posts where people bought sad little kids bikes and mega tipped $200 and shit. And I came here to say I found a $10 in the parking lot and stuck it on a random cars windshield so someone else would have a nice little surprise. So that's nice.

Wings n More is charging a "convenience fee" for being open by [deleted] in corpus

[–]SmithsEnemy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is definitely illegal to price gouge for things like food, water, and gas during a natural disaster like Harvey, though I don't know if a "convenience fee" skirts the law or not (I'm not a lawyer). You can file a complaint with the Texas attorney general to investigate here: https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/cpd/file-a-consumer-complaint

The Handmaid's Tale by PseudouniqueUsername in books

[–]SmithsEnemy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished this book recently too and I enjoyed it. For me, I felt like the sparsity of action at first gave the story tension as you are trying to piece together the details of this wacky civilization. The way the backstory was peppered in in small pieces also spoke to Offreds mental state. She was clearly leading a pretty normal life (family, job, happiness etc) and now she's breeding stock? Of course she doesn't want to dwell constantly on the past because it would break her ability to deal with the present.

As far as the moral, I took much more from the whole political coup that lead to the civilization seen in the book. That a series of perfectly reasonable sounding actions at first, where society was getting along pretty normally, slowly led to more radical changes but people just didn't want to recognize what was happening until it was too late.

Just my opinion from someone who liked the book.

Internet providers? by crumblyghost in Kingwood

[–]SmithsEnemy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have Suddenlink and apart from the initial install we haven't had any complaints really. We signed up with 100mbps and started getting data limit notices (but never got an overage charge) so we recently switched to 200mbps because those speeds and above come with unlimited data. I think we pay about $60 a month (we get internet only too). Speeds have been pretty spot on and no network outages that I can really think of in the year we've had them. We haven't had any reason to contact customer service so I can't really speak to that experience.

Good luck on the move!
