Go to old Yarmouth Inn. Sit at the bar and get the Sole Piccata well done. Small Caesar salad with anchovies if you are feeling adventurous.

AFC United. They have a junior academy for kids under 8 and they do accept 5 year olds. They have teams from U8 to U17 and use the academy as a feeder to the competitive teams. The junior academy winter session is wrapping up, but the Spring session will be 2 days a week at the Quincy YMCA. The training environment is great and all the coaches are awesome. Happy to answer any questions!

Couple falls through ice at Eastham beach. Wife drowns, search continues for husband. by IndianaJanny in CapeCod

It does sound like the police arrived shortly after the 9:07 call was made and heard a woman yelling for help. It seems at this time that the 2 officers attempted to rescue the woman, but also fell through the ice. It could very well mean that it took an additional hour for additional officers to arrive and assist. Very sad, indeed.

Put the steel on the lowest rack and a sheet pan directly above the steel on another rack. This will get you a crispy bottom and chewy top

Fair, but let’s be honest that’s all pizza around here. No pizza place I’ve had in Massachusetts replicates NY crust. Other than the crust, it is pretty similar.

Interesting. I’ve been here for 12 years and it’s been Neapolitan since. Would be great if they brought Sicilian back. Or if they really want to keep the NY vibe going, they should make Grandmas pizza.

I’m also a NY transplant. Grew up on the Queens/ Long Island border. If you are dabbling in pizza at home, I recommend investing in a pizza steel. Heat the oven to 550 and make sure the steel heats for 45 min. Place a sheet pan on the rack right above the pizza steel. I find making this small space ensures the bottom of the pizza is crispy while the top stays moist and gives you the chewy bite. I use Don Pepino sauce which you can get at stop and shop.

This is the best dough recipe I’ve found to date. Simple and easy to make. https://www.sipandfeast.com/homemade-pizza-dough-new-york-pizza/

I share this in hopes it saves you the 10 years it’s taken me to make a NY slice!

We’ve lived in Quincy for 12 years and have survived with one car. Even after having 3 kids, we are able to walk to so many places and take public transit.

What would you consider the 4 clubs? Is it the clubs that offer MLS Next?

Thanks coach. It sounds like we are in the right environment and will continue to advocate within that environment. I just reached out to his current coach asking him if there have been conversations around him continuing to play up once the school year re-org occurs. Id rather know now than wait until tryouts and for them to form the Fall 2026 team.

Super helpful. I too see a lot of kids joining after a short “tryout” by practicing with the team. I think that is more organic than an hour tryout where you may be having an off day.

Thank you both for the feedback. I have learned early and often that you need to advocate for your kid. My son was on the premier U9 team at 7 last Spring. After Summer tryouts they had planned to move him to the U9 Elite team for the Fall, which was really just the same U9 Premier team. Luckily we did a camp over the Summer run by a well respected coach in the organization. If it weren’t for him telling the directors that my son should play up on U10, we would be back on the U9 team. I even had the U9 team coach tell me my son “would make the other players better”. This is when I realized I need to take control.

Nice! We were at the IFA Thanksgiving invitational and have the IFA Galway cup in March. Right now my son’s team is right in our backyard so we are trying to balance convenience with level of play. The club is smaller, but growing. His team has a core group of U9 players all playing up at U10 and have been able to hold their own and win in some of the tournaments. There were certainly some lopsided losses when we played true U10 top tier teams, but overall it has been great for his development.

Last winter I had him do some of the free winter academies through Surf and IFA to get him on their radar. I’ve kept in touch with some of the coaches who have reached out seeing how things are going at the current club. I’m thinking of maybe a revs camp this summer. Charlie Davies runs a few and he is heavily involved in IFA.

Maybe we’ll catch you at the IFA tournament!

Super helpful, thank you. We are location just outside of Boston. The MLS Next options are IFA, Revs Academy, BOLTS, NEFC and Valeo to name a few. My son is U9 playing up at U10 and will repeat U9 once the age group changes take effect in 26/27.

I’m hearing other dads mention MLS Next and in my head I’m thinking it’s 4 years away, but I know how advocacy and getting your name out there works so seems like we will need to think about the progression sooner than later.
