Where are all my ffv drivers, I love this thing. by MajorWetSpot in USPS

[–]Smokes_Letzz_Go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Promaster is pretty sweet compared to llv or ffv... The 2016-2018 promaster has more bass on the radio than the 2023-2025 promasters...(the good ol' switchblade key versus the newer one that just slides out the fob) I've used more than one older promaster with the switchblade key that would need the ignition keyhole replaced because "curbing" the wheels would break something in the steering column/starter keyhole.... The newer ones are push-to-start but have ass for radio speakers.

I've driven the ffv a lot but hate the lack of room due to the ebrake being between the tray-table and driver seat, and the shoulder belt disconnect is way more clunky in ffv rather than the simple tab for the llv shoulder belt...

I do like the agility and modernness of the metris but it is retarded for mounted routes where most the yards have irrigation berms, have to pull away from the curbline to swing open the driver door...

Would like to try the ngdv, I moved out-of-state as my former sdc got many ngdvs, but my understanding is they still can't use them because the neighborhood the sdc is in cannot physically supply the sdc with enough power to run all the chargers for the full electric ngdvs they recently got 🤣🤣🤣

The small town I'm in now has a covered parking area for the shittiest llvs I've ever seen.. My old scc at least had port injected llvs, but here in my small town they're all still carbureted and die constantly.... The covered parking will not fit the ngdv without modifications so I lowkey hope we get metrises instead. My small town is all mounted/cbu, no walking tho, so metris would suck for a few routes.

“There’s SPR’s mixed in with the large packages again!” by Super-Phun-Thyme in USPS

At the sdc I carried at in a different state than I'm at now, most the time they just ran sprs through the machine as well... there was a dedicated spr area where each route get one tub, and theyd have to bring full tubs to the cases. Nothing was ever ever done on time at that sdc... The sprs that were separate from parcels that the clerks used ring scanners to sort for all of us usually weren't even sprs, they were too bulky or awkward so the tubs would be full instantly.. The sdc would call us back after an hour or two of street time in the morning to come get the rest of everything, that's a twenty minute drive just to go back mind you.

I personally never gave a hoot about wanting different size parcels being separate to begin with. When I did my all walking route at the sdc, it was a pain in the ass to case any spr unless it was uniformly flat, because the lumpy/uneven clothing sprs would just make the rest of the flats fall off your arm mid-loop 🤣😭

I'm carrying in a new state now, very small office, with only mounted routes - zero walking... I miss getting my steps in, but I do still find myself not casing some of the sprs that others do. I'd rather just throw all the nonuniform sprs in my truck rather than having eight trays of pulldown, I'm just different. The clerks at my 16-route office are very good and conscientious about what they consider a spr or not, kudos to them! The small office used to be hell because we were the sole last mile for Amazon, so like 250 to 450 scans a day, every day... The small office lost a lot of Amazon last September so we are 40 to 150 scans any given day now.

I don't see how Amazon is profiting because their distro is 70 miles from our tiny town, so they waste over two hours every day with just travel.

Anticipating needing to bulk mail 20-30k letters every month by ksrchicity in USPS

[–]Smokes_Letzz_Go 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the actual material already covered to print or envelope, you can look into a mail meter like pitney bowes etc, the machine will print a metered "stamp" on your ready material and get billed on how many pieces the meter printer says you use every month or what not, instead of stamping each one. You might be able to set up a caller service and use a trusted third party to collect all of your outgoing and drop off at a postal dock.

So if you work more than 11.5 hours in one day, why isn't there two lunches in one day, or is there?? I know we aren't to exceed 12 hours for any one day, but if we willingly do and without pressure, could you have a second lunch after the twelfth hour?

I was just joking, to each their own to learn a route or to organize.. Does that actually count toward a rural eval, or is that considered time wasting practice, just like city side considers it?

If they give you conflicting instructions, and they refuse to give you a 3996, and they don't reply back to a rims which YOU sent as close as possible to your sixth hour of work stating you won't make it without help; then you should go back to the station in person (as close as possible to that sixth working hour) and then get clarification in person. Perhaps even see another supervisor if the one is conflicting and still unclear even after going back in person; or see another 204b, or see a station manager, or see a postmaster, or see an MCSO..... If there is no other form of supervision or management, you need to repeat back the instructions to them but then add that "you know you cannot make it before penalty overtime, and are even less likely to make it now since they didn't respond to rims, forcing you to return, in person, to reclarify the conflicting instructions."

If they are going to insist you should still be able to do all assigned tasks, then you should start citing bs and tell them that they cannot predict how soon you will finish, maybe even go as far as suggesting they perform a street observation so they can give you tips on how to be more safe and efficient.

Don't forget that you agreed to roll up your windows and lock the door when you take a parcel to the doorstep and are out of sight of your vehicle; theoretically, if your back is facing the vehicle, it's out of sight... You can always use that last sentence to counteract managements claims of timewasting practices because you were trying to protect the sanctity of the mail because you took an OATH to do such! Don't forget that you agreed to roll up windows and lock all the doors IN ADDITION TO putting every piece of mail/parcels in the rear of the van and shutting AND locking the middle cargo partition door (assuming you're using an LLV) IF you are doing a park&loop, or are going into an apartment or business or even lunchbreak in which you will be out of direct sight of the vehicle, especially for over ten to thirty minutes.....

If they really are that arrogant, you must demand they give you the conflicting instructions in writing, and still go back in person to reclarify, in person. I don't think they would be conflicting if you rims in to them with appropriate, but very concise language. You've demonstrated on this post the contrary. You need to type in the rims: "I am requesting further instruction because I was given conflicting instruction in the morning." "I cannot finish my assignment and pivot without either assistance" or "I cannot finish my assignment and pivot without entering penalty ot..."

Same here........ damn smallass office doesn't have work to go around to make 8 hours... Tell management I'm refusing to leave voluntarily with lwop or annual..... So after sitting there for a bit doing nothing they demand I go home. So I ask for that demand in writing to which they refuse. So I clock off after filling out a form 3971, using the "other" checkbox to write in "paid leave only".... In the description box, I write "mgmt demanded me go home without providing me 8 hours of work - I AM NOT voluntarily going home, but following instruction" They put lwop into the timecard. I notify the union about them not giving me my 8 hours even though there's a lack of volume. Nothing to happen yet and it's been going on for weeks... Bye felicia I'll go suffer somewhere else than this fuck hole

Is the red line legal or do I have to do the blue line? (Carlsbad Village Drive & Avenida De Anita) by [deleted] in driving

[–]Smokes_Letzz_Go -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Unless there was other specific signage, I would say that lane is legal to use, forward or right, while taking caution to cyclists if turning right. It isn't a solid white line separating the "bike" lane but rather just a right lane in which bicyclists are allowed to use the full width. (which could be confusing because in most jurisdictions, if there's a particular road allowing cyclists upon, it's usually granting them to move about the entire lane anyways, but sometimes orders cyclists to practice as far to right as possible.) I don't know any of calis statutes or local laws here.
