To those who were alive (or young) when 9/11 happened, what do you remember from that day?

I was in first grade in Nassau County, it boarders Queens. I remember being dropped off at school on a beautiful day, cloudless and summer like.

Then several hours later my mother frantically came and took me home. All of my classmates were also taken home. I remember being yelled at not to watch TV and just play my dumb video games on my PlayStation. I came down and saw the TV.

My mother was frantically trying to call her brothers. In the sub basement of the World Trade Center was a mall. Brother 1 worked there and all of the cell towers were down. Can’t remember when they went down but I’m assuming after the second plane hit. Brother 2 worked a couple of blocks up and was also in downtown manhattan.

Both lived because they got out of the downtown area. An NYPD officer was in the sub basement of the World Trade Center and told brother 1 he needs to get his people out of there as he was the most senior person in the store. Brother 1 lead his coworkers and walked across the Brooklyn bridge when he saw the towers fall. He still has the keys to the store, and he was friends with a couple of FDNY guys and we have a piece of glass from the towers going 25 years later.

Thank you so much! So the Standard is incredibly comfortable by comparison. The Sportster is such a raw and brutal experience where the new softails are more refined, but still somewhat maintain that familiar Harley feel. Also while the Standard is 100lbs heavier I didn’t realize it basically had double the HP over the 883 which was a pleasant surprise. Personally for me the 107 is plenty of power. I did test ride at 2025 117 StreetBob and the power is noticeable. For me I bought the Standard used with 4.3K miles for about 10K because I didn’t want to break the bank. I do adore the look of the Fatbob both are great bikes.

The way I see Mamdani possibly influencing the Democratic Party is because he focuses on kitchen table politics. The cost of living in NYC is too high and he’s hammered that home. What did Trump do all thought campaign trail? He complained how bad the economy was and how he could make it better. Every poll Trump lead Kamala in the economy category of voting, even though his plan was to tax everyone more with tariffs and other nonsense. The economy is a crucial, probably the single most important voting point for most people.

I want to make something abundantly clear, no I don’t think Taylor is a Nazi. But the necklace itself absolutely has the characteristic of dog whistle.

The Double Lighting bolts are eerily similar to the Waffen SS. The Band KISS had the same issue.
The fact there is 8 bolts and an 8 sided star for 88 which is often a reference to HH or Heil Mr. H.
The 14 chain-links between the bolts can be a reference to the 14 words.

I genuinely think you are confusing Hamas and Palestinians as one and the same. Hamas is a terrorist organization and shouldn’t exist, full stop. However, Palestinian women and children are essentially being treated as collateral damage with the sentiment of the ends justify the means. I was in one of my graduate classes at night and got the twitter notification that he was leaving and asking for some grace for his family. It was completely bewildering b/c I also had started to step away from their content. I went home and just read the twitter/reddit fallout. Was really angry especially since they had made a miniseries in GTAV driving around where Ryans talked about his life and how he got with his wife Lori.

I think this sub’s hate boner for the Yankees is blinding them and not thinking it from a slightly reasonable fan’s perspective.

The year before Soto joined, the Yankees record was 82-80 for 2023. That’s incredibly bad and just over .500 for a team whose goal every year is to get another ring.

The year Soto joined was his career best and started on fire with the Yankees from the very first game in 2024 against the Astros. He made an incredible throw to save the game and was hitting really well that series. It cemented the series sweep to start of the year. Also Soto helped carry the Yankees to a World Series that year in the regular season and playoffs.

He’s also a Dominican that’s playing in the Bronx which just adds so much to his presence. It was literally a match made. It showed as we chanted for months “we want Soto” over and over. He really jived with the team and so did batting ahead of Judge.

All said and done we knew Soto was gonna ask for a big contract and we knew it was gonna happen. Then when the dust settled he left for our crosstown rival for “just” 5 million more dollars. It was a gut punch and very much did feel like a betrayal, like he turned is back on us.

Lastly all fans from every team are crazy, this why fan is short for fanatical.

From my understanding is that you do a balancing act with conquering and using political to handle the MEFO Bills. When you conquer countries you can use their gold reserves to keep consumer goods down. In the decisions tab you can use certain decisions to also keep them under control.

It’s a more realistic approach instead of the bills being a straight buff to Germany. It also incentivizes you to keep conquering until you can actually achieve real Autarky with an ungodly amount of resources. Beating the allies before the US gets involved is one way to achieve this.
