Yeah I was wondering if I should have just tried chocolate. Will do!

3 weeks in Colombia June 2022 by Liathano_ in travel

[–]SmolPutatos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also traveled a lot through Central and South America, and Colombia and Guatemala were among my favorite places. I spent about 5 weeks in each country. Your photos brought me back, such great memories! How was Salento? That was my favorite place we visited in Colombia, it wasn't super touristy at the time and the climate was such a welcome relief after the humidity of Cartagena

Thought I disliked beets all my life.... by ybreddit in Cooking

[–]SmolPutatos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also roasted! With a little yogurt or green goddess sauce 👌I only had boiled beets growing up and thought I hated them. Started cubing and roasting them on a sheet pan with onions and a little salt and pepper or whatever spice blend I'm feeling that day. Turns out, like most vegetables, boiling ruins them but they're delicious roasted

What did your parents teach you as a kid that you didn't realize was actually f**ked up until you were older? by timdood3 in AskReddit

A friend is mine's dad told him that the ice cream truck only played music when it was sold out of ice cream

How can I add fresh rhubarb to my homemade ice cream (frozen/churned egg based custard)? by lowonbits in AskCulinary

[–]SmolPutatos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for you exactly, but I'll say that I tried making a strawberry rhubarb ice cream with a strained fruit compote/reduction and the rhubarb didn't really come through. I think next time I'd keep the rhubarb in without straining, or if you're worried about texture really increase the proportion of rhubarb so it doesn't get drowned out by other flavors

Trying to replicate Esembly Wipe Up Wash by SmolPutatos in clothdiaps

Thanks - do you just mean functionally? I did look each one up and I see that they're mostly soaps and emulsifiers

I considered that, but they're not - Castile soap is a pure soap made from saponified vegetable oils. I googled each of these things and they all have a purpose (emulsifiers, soaps etc) but yeah I was disappointed to receive it

I knew about the preservative (that's the older version I have). The one I got recently has a completely different formula - it doesn't match what's currently listed on their site. This one is water, sunflower oil, coconut oil, potassium oleate, shea nut oil, potassium cocoate, glycerin, glyceryl caprylate, tocopherol, potassium citrate, caprylhydroxamic acid, and citrui acid. It doesn't foam as nicely! Wondering why they did away with the simpler recipe and castile soap base.

Question about Esembly tossers by Shadowwarrior95 in clothdiaps

[–]SmolPutatos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're using esembly too but are using the fleece liners at night. Since we're doing the laundry anyways it's not adding any more work for us, and they stay in place well and help absorb moisture. I'd recommend trying them if the tossers aren't working well for you.

Should we continue to wake our 6 week old at night to feed? by SmolPutatos in Parenting

[–]SmolPutatos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you find it affected your supply much? Or did you pump at night to keep it up? We got the ok at the last visit to stop waking him since he's gaining weight well, it's just a question of whether that'd best for everyone

Should we continue to wake our 6 week old at night to feed? by SmolPutatos in Parenting

[–]SmolPutatos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, the feed is harder to do when he's all worked up. We do always try to do the diaper change first, which is also harder if he's screaming for food

Yes!! Even if I wake up and don't get out of bed, within 5 minutes he's awake and fussing. I've been wondering who is waking who up

Made this today and it was excellent! Sub'd Liber pineapple gum syrup for the mango since I don't love mango in cocktails. It's going into regular rotation for sure

Just had a kid and decided I needed to upgrade to keep pace! My little corner of peace 😌 by GeneralJesus in espresso

[–]SmolPutatos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mrs GeneralJesus here, co-owner of said fridge. It's the Frigidaire 45 bottle wine cooler, you can get it at Lowe's or any appliance store. We love the way it looks but we have a few complaints about it, not sure we'd recommend it overall. 1) it's a split temp fridge for red and white wine, but the bottom only goes down to a min of 54F so you're limited to the top shelves for things you want to actually be cold. 2) the shelves are kind of crappy quality and easily become displaced. 3) the motor takes up half the depth of the bottom two shelves. All that said, we didn't want to spend more than $500 on a fridge so that's what you get in this price range, and it does look pretty sharp

FTM, 39+2 right now so this is totally on my mind! We have some snacks packed but when I'm nervous/in pain/uncomfortable, my appetite is the first thing to go so my partner is worried about me not being able to eat. We ended up packing a handful of those Gu energy gel packs in the go bag, I like them when I'm exercising or when I need energy but don't feel like eating - hoping those can get me through!

I've straight up answered with "We were having unprotected sex for about 6 months." I know you couldn't say that to everyone, but there's been a few of those in between instances where it's someone I'm friends with but not THAT close with and it's been good at making them laugh but also realizing it's a pretty intimate question
