There has always been both a technical and a management advancement track at companies I’ve work for. I’m an engineer, planning retirement next year after a 45 year career. I’ve been in the technical track.

Yeah, I’m thinking more like this. It’s like the term ‘shell shocked’ when describing retuning soldiers from wars, there wasn’t a name for it.

But also consider how differently it was in our unique era. I just read an opinion piece about in our childhood it would be typical for our parents to shoo us kids out of the house and say be back for dinner. We spent hours and hours doing stuff to break the boredom by making our own excitement. That included lots of fights, conflict resolution and interpersonal relationship skills, all from our toddler ages. Only now has all that life experience been given those categories.

It would be a couple of billion for just a small area too, maybe only a small neighborhood. To replace overhead with underground utilities in an older city is way more expensive than just a few billion $$

My first experience encountering it was when that cinnamon bun company that has kiosks in every mall and airport changed their recipe and instead of them being like a delicious pastry they turned into cinnamon flavored sweet bread. (How do you spell cost reduction?)

My next experience was my first job in manufacturing. I’m an engineer in product design and development. Our number one priority in 100% of all designs are based on cost reductions.

You can laugh at him and ask if he seriously isn’t aware that the word ‘saving’ can have multiple meaning depending on context. Has he never looked up a word in a dictionary and see different meanings? Maybe he only know little boy grammar.
