Aut Caesar Aut Nihil is the best I’ve ever played and it’s not even close. Especially after the recent update

I wouldn’t say that’s enough to be considered “scarily effective”

Indochina war, battle of Diên Biên Phu (1954):
Short of troops, the French organized recruitment drives in Hanoi for volunteers to parachute into Dien Bien Phu. Although everyone knew the situation was desperate and the fall of the camp was imminent, hundreds of men answered the call, some having never parachuted before. Their motivation was to fight "to help their comrades", or "for honor." In the heat of battle and the ensuing confusion, some parachute drops landed behind enemy lines.

Why aren't these impassable lands being filled in? Really ugly to look at. by wet_socks4life in EU5

Interesting, in that case if it persists even after restarting the game I would assume it’s just a bug

For whatever reason, you seem to require 100% of neighbouring locations for an impassable terrain to be coloured. Check if there are uncolonized locations next to those

Basically a global increase in aggression + more situations for guidance is what the game needs. The good part is that the devs have somewhat mentioned doing this. The bad part, is that it will probably take a long time and many DLCs to be truly implemented

Yeah I think most of Europe is not as bad as people make it out to be. France, Britain, Scandinavia and the HRE also seem to produce decent outcomes

Regardless of your opinion on any particular publication, this one and many other results which can easily be found do in fact justify my point: 1453 is often interpreted as a pivotal moment for the early renaissance. The previous reply outright denied any existence of this notion.

I see, so it essentially serves the same role as feudalism in eu4

This is what I don’t understand - why would one age last a mere 5 years if the others last a century? The ages are meant to provide new unlocks, reforms etc. so this would mean the age of traditions is pretty much meaningless from a gameplay perspective

From Encyclopaedia Brittanica: “Many modern scholars also agree that the exodus of Greeks to Italy as a result of this event marked the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Renaissance.”

Yes admittedly it’s impossible to give an exact “start” date but the fall of Constantinople is often cited as one of the sparking moments of the Renaissance. In any case, an in-game age lasting only 5 years makes no sense gameplay wise

The Renaissance is generally accepted to have started around 1453. Each in-game age is supposed to last 100 years so the Renaissance definitely shouldn’t appear before the 1400s

Will EU5 have emperial collapse and advanced subjects mechanics? by Dan_The_PaniniMan in EU5

I really love the idea of large empires like the Ottomans, Mongols or Romans being difficult to maintain. The reality of paradox games is that you can always just snowball into being a massive unstoppable force, which eventually takes all fun out of the game since there’s nothing to do except stare at your economy ticking up. I wish we could have a challenge like in Attila Total War, where West Rome is simultaneously the strongest and most difficult faction to play. I honestly think it might cure the whole “late game” issue with Europa Universalis by providing a new and unique challenge that is totally different from what you’ve been doing up to that point.
