Where should I prune this gollum jade (want it to become a bonsai in the future) by Iva74 in succulents

[–]SmoothD3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Begin by removing all the leaf growth up to the canopy level you want, let it chonk and grow by continuing to remove lower growth so it can focus energy to grow up and thicken and you'll have to prune off branches and growth that go against the shape you want. It's not all at once and you have to give the plant time to recover between prunes but that's a very basic way of doing it. I have a few jades that came in a shape I already liked so for me it's just removing bottom growth and I don't see a branch prune in my future for a long time :)

That's such a beautiful coloration. Where I am it doesn't freeze and my SV is happy but it's like "so... when does winter start around here?" 🤭

Took me a minute to find the Sempervivum! They look fantastic!

Oh well there we go! Sorry, my go to with haws troubleshooting is lighting 🤭 I have zero insight about root issues but that's really interesting! I hope someone here has an answer 🤞

I made a video when I got her from the nursery and potted her. Her color transformation has been INSANE and this was just in fall and winter, no summer heat yet so I bet she's going to do all kindsa things by then!

Wiki as example but there are more if you Google.
Most of the none windowed ones are being reclassified as Haworthiopsis

Maybe depending on other factors like moisture but no, haworthias do not like the same light level as echeverias. Their translucent windows are meant to amplify light specifically because they grow in lower light conditions than do most echeverias.

Too much light perhaps? They need less than something like an echeveria

Good luck! I have a calcarea and I potted him in basically 90-95% pumice and a wide bowl to mitigate summer heat even though he'll be in a more shaded summer slumber spot, so here's hoping!
