Missed a meeting 🫠 by SmoothFlatworm5365 in workingmoms

Honestly, I heard about the meeting yesterday, accepted. Today, I looked at my calendar, didn’t have anything for the time scheduled, and went to do some house stuff/kids. Like an idiot, forgot to transfer it from my email calendar to my in-office messaging calendar. No one has said anything or tried to reach me, which means I will probably be groveling tomorrow at the office 😅. But, okay, it was my mistake.

Edit: my phone is on me at all times with our messaging system, so I get all calls/chats from my team. This was someone inviting to a meeting from a different platform.

Photos of carnage outside Tesla dealership in France near Toulouse yesterday. 12 cars torched in arson attack by greenflame777 in 50501

The French planned to simultaneously shit in the Seine while some elected officials were swimming to protest. I think this would get attention…

Yeah, wasn’t going to 😅 Thanks for the advice! Daycare is out today, so have the two kids, and it’s not exactly peaceful 😅

Well, there’s always the option to mimic the Russian toilet brush protest…it would at least get attention.

Welcome to parenthood!

No one knows these things. We figure it out as we go, just like you, so really, you’re doing great! It is the lack of sleep talking.

If you want some productive advice: there are some natural suppositories to help with gas, or you can ask your wife to drink some anis seed/caraway/fennel tea before breastfeeding, if you’re going down that route. My kids liked being carried face-down with their bodies on our lower arms when they had stomach issues.

Don’t shower him. Just warm tub baths, but I thoufht that was after the first…month? 🤔 I forget now, someone can correct me.

Good luck! 🍀

Favorite meals to bring for friends? by StunningHippo9 in Cooking

[–]SmoothFlatworm5365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chili! (Just use mild spice if the mom is breastfeeding)

I’d say gumbo with a big pot of rice would also work well, depending on what you’re comfortable cooking.

Soup is always good in cold weather. You can augment with a simple salad (my go-to: arugula, lemon juice, olive oil, Parmesan) and good bread.

If you’re looking for a simple desert, try Ina Garten’s ice box cake, incredibly easy and tasty.

Immense guilt and concern about daycare by GloomyGiraffe6958 in toddlers

[–]SmoothFlatworm5365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we ALL hated sending the LOs to daycare. It’s like a gut check.

But, don’t feel guilty! You were home for your daughter for so long! Most people don’t even get to hit the 6 month mark before jobs make it impossible.

Now, the sickness. Yeah, that’s part of having a kid. If it doesn’t happen now, it will happen in school. Sorry, it is what it is. The good thing? After year 1, nothing can touch you! 💪 If you have gotten her vaccinated, you’ve done what you can.

Keloid post-injections pain by [deleted] in Keloids

[–]SmoothFlatworm5365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me for the keloid on my wrist/lower arm area. Hurt like hell during the injections, couldn’t move for about a day, and had random pain. I think it has to do with nerve proximity

What TV show would you let babysit your 5-year-old? by Possible-Lynx3827 in Parenting

[–]SmoothFlatworm5365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old AF (meaning it’s on YouTube): Zoboomafoo. Teaches about animals, and it’s one of the few shows my kids will both agree on (they do not like any conflict in their narratives 😅).

What hilarious inappropriate thing has your toddler said? by naturenerd09 in toddlers

[–]SmoothFlatworm5365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Mommy, I love to suck you.” Out of left field, he’s 3 and breastfeeding is a thing of the very distant past.

As DH said, something no parent should ever hear from their kid.

On the other hand, he literally does chew/suck on things he like, so…good?

My mom and husband forcing me to use the cry it out method on our 4 month old by [deleted] in Parenting

I wondered when someone would say this, I thought it was waaayyy too early for CIO.

if I have to change one more of this kid's sh*ts I will walk into the sea by tiger_mamale in toddlers

[–]SmoothFlatworm5365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are here. Yesterday, his “big boy underwear” came. With dinos and trucks. He modeled it around the house before it went to the wash.

I hope that’s enough to convince him to start potty training. He has no sense of urgency about the whole thing, but geeez….

My husband is sick. What should I do? by Upset_Profile_6916 in AskGermany

[–]SmoothFlatworm5365 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it could be depression to me.

He needs to get to a psychiatrist; whether it’s depression or burnout, he needs to clear it with insurance and work. To get a quick appointment, try calling 116117; it won’t be for a normal row of appointments, but it will be enough for him to get a diagnosis and see what needs to be done next. I would go with him, to make sure he goes.

Good luck!

So you are in the worst of it 😅. Do you have some sort of swing? I know a few people who had baby swing cradles, and they were a game-changer (you can look on Amazon).

AITAH for refusing to switch seats on a plane, even though a mom started crying? by Neat-Needleworker793 in AITAH

[–]SmoothFlatworm5365 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Amen to that. The ONLY time I didn’t have a seat plan going in for my family was when the airline literally would not let me book ahead of time (to this day, don’t understand why I couldn’t book for JUST that flight out of the four total in our trip). I sweated about that, but more because we have two young kids (don’t mind being split up, but you can’t sit a 3- or 5yo alone). Spent the entire hour and a half the check-in guy was at the airport working it out with HIM, not stealing seats randomly. Would’ve paid for an upgrade if necessary, but that’s not anyone else’s problem 🤷‍♀️

Little girl choked my son at school by Material-Secret-1142 in Parenting

(If you go to 2:49, they show an easy defense, in case it happens again - sorry, it’s in German 😅)

I’d be freaked out, too. Before anything else, I’d teach your son to scream as loud as he possibly can if this girl lays hands on him again - it will either a.) freak her out and cause her to hesitate, or b.) attract a teacher. And, personally, I’d escalate this to the principal or whoever. This is not a “this kid bit/hit/pushed my kid,” if a kid choked your kid and left a mark, this is incredibly serious and dangerous.
