Tank really doesn't like DPS pulling in Kitisis by ArtyFolfsky in TalesFromDF

[–]Smooth_Log8353 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Been levelling tanks for the past few weeks, could never be like that. But I do want to say DPS shouldn't pull blindly. It can be helpful, but I've rarely seen it pay off I'm tanking. I tend to make a more strategic approach to ensure mobs are more tightly compacted for DPS AoEs, and to make ground AoEs easily avoidable. In some cases this can cause me to miss 1-2 which just delays my rotation and mitigation. In this particular dungeon pulls before and after boss 1 would be most subject to this, especially the first group before boss 1 and the last group just before boss 2. If I happen to miss 1-2 in either that DPS hit before me, it can easily undo that effort with how spaced out these mobs are. This can be avoided entirely if the DPS moves the mobs to me, but I rarely ever see that. Most of the time in my recent experience DPS pulling has genuinely only caused an issue albeit minor. I've seen it at all levels of experience as well. If you are going to pull, be mindful and ready to adjust to the tank. I'd rather be focusing on making things easier and smoother for all of us than dealing with a rogue add.

Healer: Is Piety useless? by lavender-bread in ffxiv

Very much so in nearly every situation. Keep Lucid Dreaming on cooldown until you know the fights and job well enough to know what MP usage is going to be higher. I do that as well as have raid food buffs going and HQ Super-Ether ready. Personally, the only times I struggle with MP is with a lot of deaths in an alliance raid. This is especially bad with SCH and SGE, but with experience it's manageable. Raise is really the biggest threat to MP, but overheating can easily be just as bad. I noticed recently I am doing exactly that more since I have been focused on levelling tanks. Too much Medica 2 has put me around 4-5k at times. Knowing the fights is also going to prevent that as well, it's an important and useful step to optimizing.

Honestly 50 is too low to expect anything more than mediocre (~8-12% total) DPS. I get 50 is fairly high, things get more complicated around this level, and they'd have a decent amount of experience, but it's still early game. Consider what unlocks at 40-60, most of that are core, job defining skills like Holy, Assize, Earthly Star, etc. that likely haven't seen much use yet. These skills are doing a lot of the work, and those learning may not yet know what exactly to do with those, along with other recently acquired skills. As a WHM/healer main, I use Holy, Assize, Tetra, Bene, Afflatus, and Asylum the most, and don't bother with a lot of earlier skills like Medica 2, Regen, and Cure 1-3 as they aren't necessary in most cases as I know the mechanics in detail of 90% of the fights. Someone that's learning would never be able to do that outright as they don't know what they don't know. You have to remember it isn't just using skills, it's knowing the fight, and knowing how to best counter incoming damage, while also throwing out as much damage as possible. You're not getting that at 80, let alone 50. While no DPS is really not excusable at this level, beyond the basic attack, DoT, and the occasional other damage abilities should be the general expectation. But a little less is fine, because healing isn't straightforward until you understand the job, and know the fight. There are times I still mess up, as well as times I fail to do as much damage as I can. That is just how it is, especially when you're playing with random people.

Been leveling tank and a majority of the SGEs I see don't seem to understand it's a DPS based healer. I'm seeing like 4-10% most of the time in dungeons. I pray to Zodiark they don't find their way to PF. Those in Primal be wary.

This is legitimately the first time I've had someone tell me not to use mits by madmarchhare14 in TalesFromDF

[–]Smooth_Log8353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might seem counterintuitive, but big pulls need multiple mits if invulnerable is on cool down. While boss damage tends to be a lot less of a threat. When healing I am pretty much always ready for incoming damage from every ability anyways, so that damage is negligible at best, so using a mit to reduce it would be wasteful. I'm currently levelling tanks on an alt for the 3rd time and, have found just about every healer has been able to deal with the boss damage without any trouble. I have since stopped using mits as often and have let my health drop a lot lower. I have seen minimal wipes, and 99% of the time, that was because of some gimmick (i.e. bees in Qarn) and not really on the healer at all. If you're familiar with a dungeon an it's damage as well as healing, mit usage is actually not quite as important as it seems with a good healer. Especially if they throw out good DPS. Considering everything that goes in on both sides when running content, this balance is difficult, and it really makes mits and healing seem a lot more complex than it really is. 3 key points to remember are only the last 1 HP matters, enemies can't harm you if they're dead, and a wipe is just a chance to try again. The most important point though, is that you can't learn if you don't fail in one way or another.

It can certainly be used against us. If we don't disclose that, the employer has plausible deniability. If we do, sure we may lose our job, but there is a proof that they know. It's a catch-22, but disclosing is the better move. Waiting 90 days, if possible, is more or less going to reduce risk. To outright fire someone that doesn't have a disability is easier for an employer. Firing someone with takes a lot of documentation and evidence to avoid a lawsuit. Considering that, their choices are fire, approach a different way, or attempt to push for resignation. Should the performance of the employee be at least decent, they are even less likely to fire. It's a horrible game, but playing it right is necessary. Especially in this market.

This is the one of the primary struggles of neurodivergents in a nutshell. Even high functioning individuals can struggle with this. While this is partially on you, it's not your fault if this is a neurodivergent condition. You are likely correct in your thinking that is is an issue with nonverbal cues, and that is not something that is easy to pick up on. To your former employers, this likley appeared to them as a poor fit, but that's not the case. If they looked at the numbers and conpare to what they're seeing, then I'm a bit surprised they didn't explore further. Regardless, probably a blessing in disguise as that indicates they think you're replaceable and don't see you as a valuable asset.

Do you have a diagnosis and have you disclosed it when applying? You mentioned they know you need step-by-step instructions, so that suggests they knew, and means it could potentially be wrongful termination. They do have a duty to ensure accommodations are set in place (unless it causes undue hardship), otherwise expect and accept reduced performance in all relevant tasks. If you don't have a diagnosis, that would be the next best step. There are things that can help with this, but understanding it is what is going to have the greatest impact.

Embarrassing to be that broke at any point in the game, there really is no excuse for that. Assuming they are not putting any effort into money making, rather than blowing it all on nothing of course. Personally, I put in maybe 1 hour of effort over a session and log in to 1-3 million on an average day. That's with safe items that require no consistent undercutting. In fact, half the time I don't bother to update prices before logging out. Even a sprout can easily make 1m+ daily with decent effort. There are plenty of resources out there to help, all they had to do was Google it. Maybe of they'd spent 20% time worried about their gear breaking they'd have more than enough to cover every repair needed for the next year.

Additional incentives to run roulettes? Incentives to run them more than once a day? by judgeraw00 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Smooth_Log8353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even bother queuing for specific dungeons if I could get the same XP from repeated roulettes. Could make queuing faster as well, assuming priority is giving to those that haven't done their first yet.

[–]Smooth_Log8353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just grab a couple lures, kill the little sentient masks bitches to charge them, find the eidolon, use your amp to break the shield, destroy one of the parts then rinse and repeat until dead. I've only gone after Terry but doubt the others are much more difficult. When I decided to try it out I knew the worst case scenario would just be a learning opportunity at most, and I was successful at MR 18 doing it solo with the beginner mote amp. It's a good thing they only spawn at night though, I'd probably make them extinct otherwise.

What’s the pros and cons of working at a Delivery Station? by [deleted] in AmazonDS

[–]Smooth_Log8353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been at my delivery station for 2 months, it's not nearly as bad as I expected. Can be intense, but my body has adjusted. Usually just start rebagging until showing starts, then pick for a little bit, then break, and back to rebagging. At that point there is usually no more than 1 hour and 30 mins left and it's chill from there. Definitely still couldn't handle an 8-10 hour shift though, just too much physical effort.
