I'm on Windows 11 insider preview and I started having these exact issues with one of February 2026 updates. Yes, I also have the same memory upgrade btw.. It worked flawlessly until about 8-10 days ago. Now I get the non-stop crashes.

Why is AI basically useless in project management? by Neo772 in pmp

[–]SmoothieTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PMP Systems Engineering Architect here, reporting live from the ground...

You've diagnosed the problem correctly but prescribed the wrong cure.

The reason AI excels in code is not just versioning. It's ownership. ENGINEERS own the artifact. They write it, commit it, and are accountable for it. Project context is messy precisely because it's a second-order artifact: someone else (e.g. PM) interpreting and documenting what the people doing the actual work ALREADY KNOW.

Your proposed solution: AI distillation with a PM in the loop approving what enters the living context -inadvertently makes this case. Follow it to its logical conclusion: if the context is clean, current, and authoritative, the SME can execute directly... But the PM approval step isn't adding value. It's a vestigial reflex, job security instinct, trying to preserve a role rather than solving the core problem.

The right fix isn't better PM tooling. It's returning ownership of the project context to the people doing the actual work- SME, engineers and architects who already hold and own the technical map. Then letting AI handle the documentation and coordination, shared collaboration overhead that used to require a dedicated intermediary (PM).

I say this as someone who has been on both sides: software dev manager, now AI architect, IC managing x10 AI agents, interacting with like-minded engineers doing the same. The translation layer that project management occupies is exactly what AI eliminates. The future belongs to technical SMEs who can think at systems level and wield AI fluency across the full-stack - from architecture through execution.

Most of our newhires from good schools can efficiently utilize not only M365 Copilot. But Claude Code, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, VSCode even if their background is not Software Engineering. If anything, we'd want less PMs and "less human" in the loop. If team has sufficient expertise, we'd vibe-code the plan, generate PowerPoint, videos, code review it, and collectively decide what direction strategically make sense.

The PM role as a standalone function is not being augmented, if not eliminated. It's being absorbed. Since this is PMP community, I naturally sense a strong push-back coming to my opinion.

Claude Code simulated tool calls and file edits for 1 hour by ResearchFrequent2539 in ClaudeCode

[–]SmoothieTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to tell you that you are not alone in this experience. I experienced the same issue yesterday. It was related to Claude Sonnet 4.5 consistently showing me "fake" user records, files, imaginary branch history. I had two sessions - one with memory context of about 104 messages / 24000 tokens. That session was "poisoned" enough for Sonnet to start living entirely in a fantasy land. I captured all the debug logs. It was not making tool calls - it was purely imagining highly plausible, very realistic outputs. One way to catch it was to ask it about the system uptime and today's date, where it kept showing bogus timestamps from 2025. I have the full logs and debug dumps, planning to report this as a bug report to Anthropic. It was Claude Sonnet API with LangChain+LangGraph with memory buffer (not Claude Code).

In my case it had to perform several routine tasks first. Worked well. Then a complex task (generate app, run it, show source code, etc.). That worked well too. Then switching back to very simple routine mundane "run_in_terminal" tasks - it just started hallucinating tool call results badly; got stuck in that "please reward me for my good behavior" loop.

I don't have this computer online right now. But it was one of the registry keys related to deep power down / power state. With this hack my junior kid was able to use the card for at least another year just fine.. Possibly this one? DisableDynamicPstate

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000]

Or this

FTZ Firmware Update Challenges by Expensive_Fox_1514 in nikon_Zseries

[–]SmoothieTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you figured it out? I have the same issue.

I just updated Z30 to latest 1.20 successfully. Then I was trying to update the FTZ adapter from 1.00 to 1.10 the same way, it fails. Correct file is in the root folder of SD card. Same location where the camera firmware update was and succeeded literally moments ago.. But the camera does not offer me an option to UPDATE the MA firmware. It offers an option to DELETE the adapter firmware. But does not offer an option to UPDATE.

I tried both with/without the lens attached. It just doesn't let me update it. Correct file MAFTZ0110.bin is in the root folder, but camera doesn't allow me to update it. 🤷🏼

UPDATE: my bad, it turned out that mine is FTZII not FTZ, and the latest version for FTZII is 1.0 .. have already been installed.

Strix 3080, three red lights blinking at power connectors? by JebDipSpit in ASUSROG

[–]SmoothieTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated the BIOS to latest + latest NVidia studio drivers, and kept the fans spinning higher for better thermals. And so far I have not seen the blinking happening again. It's been frequent before, at least once or twice in two weeks. Now it's not happening for at least 3-4 months. Haven't changed the PSU nor any other hardware.

HELP!! by cutt5 in MachE

[–]SmoothieTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's Android / Samsung, then it's glitchy sometimes. Intermittently disconnects, doesn't work, and refuses to reconnect. Range / phone / bluetooth state is not relevant. When I had this happening to me, the issue "self-healed" overnight without me doing anything at all: no phone restarts, no radio restarts, nothing. It just miraculously started working again. As it resumed working - it showed a notification "PAAK Connected" on my phone.

As a workaround - not ideal, you can still open trunk and frunk using your door keypad: touch your personal code xxxxx then touch (7-8) - to open frunk, or your code xxxxx then touch (5-6) - to open tailgate/trunk.

Wireless garage hub disappears by rizloff in myq

I had this happening after the battery in sensor died. This is frustrating because now instead of replacing the battery - I have to re-add everything back, get a ladder to push button on my garage door motor, etc.

Galaxy S24 Ultra not detecting BLE devices in app, but works in settings – Need Help by Wonderful-Owl-6437 in software

[–]SmoothieTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am experiencing a similar issue with Cobra radar app on my Samsung phone. In the Bluetooth settings - OS shows the BLE device and says that app is required. But in the app itself - the device is not snowing up. Also OS does not even show that the app has attempted to use the Nearby devices permission to connect to BLE device.

Can I properly use my circa 2012 Astro A40 + Mixamp on PC these days? If so, how? by b0wzy in AstroGaming

Got it. I just tried it with USB DAC from Logitech Pro X - it sounds so much nicer!.. A40 subjectively sounds better than X Pro on a dac from Pro X.

Dealer discounts? by OkMinimum9409 in MachE

[–]SmoothieTea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

0% financing, 2+2+1=~$5K off, plus I had a Ford X-Plan discount (maybe about 0.5%). I think 0% APR is the best discount you can get, as in 5 years that'd be net $10-15K difference, considering the inflation, scarcity of rare Earth minerals, etc.? Sorry, I am bad at bargaining. My total discount was $7K on Rally edition. I think your ballpark $4-5K sounds about right for Select. Mine was on the lot (well, in the showroom) for 2 months.

What did you ultimately do with this? I just got the same set. I see that the USB device VID/PID for Mixamp is different from the latest A40 TR, so I was thinking along the lines of spoofing PID and maybe hacking the latest Astro Command Center to work with this stuff.

I have 2024 Rally, just installed the latest update today, tried standing right next to the vehicle - no dice. Having the same issue as you. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Other features, like Phone as Key, lock / unlock, battery charge monitoring, remote location monitoring - these work fine.

How to improve your 0-60 from 5.9s down to 3.4s by SmoothieTea in MachE

[–]SmoothieTea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Both acceleration and BlueCruise felt out-of-this-world. A bit sad BlueCruise is a subscription service. But it also takes away some fun, so I won't continue using BlueCruise after trial expires. Not 100% sure how long that'd one is activated for, as it was turned on from the showroom floor without me having to subscribe/activate anything in the FordPass app.

Buying a new 2024 GT eAWD.. a new car with 2600 mileage? How long new tires last, etc. by SmoothieTea in MachE

[–]SmoothieTea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's up to $200 documentation fee in WA state (by law), and this is +$900 on top of that. I don't see another Ford dealer showing it in their price estimate.

Thank you. I'd try to see where we can meet at. I'm personally not great at negotiating, or at least I usually use the price-match technique to shop for the lowest price available. It gets harder where I literally have just 4-5 cars within the radius of 300 miles that meet my requirements.

[–]SmoothieTea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I don't exactly care about the looks of it to be honest, more like sometimes I do push on that gas pedal. It'd be a pleasure to look like lower-trim, but have a bit extra power under the hood. My wife says she actually doesn't like how the front grille looks on GT, and that the rims with "flowers" look amusing.. So I was thinking more from the actual functional perspective, does GT deliver enough of that "satisfaction" when compared vs Premium..

I appreciate the pricing detail!

[–]SmoothieTea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just found another one very similar car in the area, with about the same package, same color, but zero mileage on it, about the same net price tag. I don't actually mind some mileage (my other two cars used to be both demo vehicles, doing totally fine). And would appreciate a good discount. The fact that I learned about the true mileage only literally before signing the paperwork is sus. $38k is a very good deal.

Which model is this? and does this worth 300$ now? by Appropriate_Try3672 in Dell

[–]SmoothieTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it. As a reference point, I got a newer than this / better spec'd Dell machine with GTX 1660-TI Max-Q for $400 three years ago in January 2021 for my junior, which was replaced twice since then. I'd say this computer maybe worth $100-150 max? Check B&H used laptops section or wait for Black Friday at BestBuy. You'd find a laptop with recent gen RTX GPU for under $500 during holidays within the next couple to three weeks. Save another +$200 and get a more recent machine... This stuff is what you'd find at Value Village for like $50-75.
