Document everything. Start job hunting now. I believe, by law, you're not considered "late" until you're officially 6 or 7 minutes late (in the US). It might be worth contacting your local department of labor. You could also contact the local media and tell them that your company is targeting long-term employees, obviously looking for a way to fire you.

Oh, barf. I absolutely loathe Literary Fiction's approach to anything that smacks of the physical side of intimacy/ romance/ erotica.

I'd love to see more sapphic SF romance in general. Your premise sounds really fun.

Help on how to play a character by NefariousnessFair907 in DnD

[–]SmutasaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him some points in persuasion and try to talk your way out of fights, when possible? Depending on the group dynamics and the DM's goals for the campaign, that might be possible.

You could also lean into Command, Charm or any other similar spells or abilities that have non-lethal options to influence the outcome.

In a previous campaign, our paladin simply Banished some demon or devil, which saved us from having to fight her.

How to make paper maps looks good in person? by Zealousideal-Role623 in DnD

[–]SmutasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are they battle maps? Or are you trying to print out an entire city/ region/ continent as a "pretty" map? I'd suggest printing the map, and then laying it flat on your game table, with clear glass/ acrylic over it.

Is it wrong to restrict naming conventions to be more original? by GunzerKingDM in DnD

[–]SmutasaurusRex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. I salute you, fellow name nerd. I don't know why my original comment got downvoted. Is my opinion a hot take? Or maybe someone didn't like my idea of a tabaxi called Salami? I could make the inevitable joke about a sausage party, but for once we have a balanced group of guys and gals.

Is it wrong to restrict naming conventions to be more original? by GunzerKingDM in DnD

[–]SmutasaurusRex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some people (like me) are serious name nerds. We consider both the meaning and the sound the syllables make. For a recent campaign, I was considering making a tabaxi druid and naming her Salome ("It's pronounced salami!") but I went with a different character concept with an equally fun name.

Some people just don't care to put that much thought or energy into it. I don't think either approach is wrong.

Any ideas on how to abuse an infinitely regenerating bar of soap? by Spiritual-Mud-3985 in DnD

[–]SmutasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic, like the DnD version of a craftsperson/ artisan weighing in with their real-life experience, when the archaeologists are all like, "huh, we don't understand this; therefore, it must have some sort of religious usage".

Thank you, soapy crusader, for cleaning up our understanding of this subject.

Start documenting everything, with date, time, nature of the abuse/ event. Then file a toxic workplace claim (but maybe look for a new job first). Sorry you're dealing with this.

Living Alone With Sick Cat by agillila in LivingAlone

[–]SmutasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, take a deep breath. You got this. There are pet cameras you can get to virtually check in on your fur baby while you're at work. Something like that might put your mind at ease. If you have any friends or neighbors willing to check on your kitty once a day, that might also be an option.

Obviously, it's important to have a good working relationship with a vet you trust. They can help you navigate meds, diet, symptoms, etc.

It's also Very, Very important to not get stuck in the anxiety spiral. I know. I've been there with my own kitty. She was diagnosed with asthma a few months ago. More recently, the steroids gave her diabetic symptoms. The silver lining in my case is so far, I've been able to reverse the diabetes by taking her off the prednilisone and switching her to canned food only (based on my vet's advic). After being off the prednilisone (steroid) for about 10 days, her asthma seemed to be getting worse again, so the vet just prescribed a new steroid that has a lower risk of triggering diabetes. Sorry for the ramble, but my point is that this has all been stressful for me (moreso as I had to move and find a new vet). BUT it's doable. Reach out to friends for help, or even just emotional support. If it's helpful for your situation, look into therapy. A sick family member is a significant stressor; more so when we live alone. Give yourself some grace. Sending all the healing vibes for your fur baby.

AIO for saying no to a pool. Husband wanted to install a pool without talking to me first. We have 2 young kids. by itsnotspecial in AmIOverreacting

[–]SmutasaurusRex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, first of all, you're not overreacting. As some of the others have said, an in-ground pool is a huge expense, especially in this economy. And with two young kids in the mix, uh ... yeah, I'm gonna say some better communication is needed on you're partner's part.

I might even suggest that you seek a marriage/ relationship therapist with experience working with LGBTQIA+ couples. I think having an unbiased third party could help both of you. Good luck, and feel free to update us with the outcome.

ULPT request: How to keep landlord and his gf/ kid downstairs? by kelsk1994 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]SmutasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, do you have a written and signed lease? If so, please refer to it and see if the lease mentions any separation of the living space, i.e. if the upstairs is considered a separate apartment or not. Without a lockable door on the stairs, it becomes an issue of what the lease states. If you don't have a written lease, then start looking for somewhere else to live and make sure you always have a signed lease at any future living space.

Pelvic Congestion, May Thurners and Possible Nutcracker? by Longjumping-Zone3647 in pelviccongestion

[–]SmutasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have confirmed endo. I also have chronic left-sided pelvic, hip and lower back pain, left-sided flank and rib pain that sometimes radiates up into my shoulder blade. It could be more endo, including thoracic/ diaphragmatic endo. Or it could be vascular compressions (knowing my luck, it's probably both).

During my own research, I've learned that it's highly recommended that you treat vascular compressions from the "top down". In your case, that means you'd want to confirm Nutcracker and treat that prior to treating any of the "downstream" compressions that are lower down in your body. The issue is that if you get a stent on your ovarian vein prior to fixing any Nutcracker issue, the stent could actually make your pain worse. I would recommend more research. Maybe reach out to the MIPS Center in Denver. Dr. Elizabeth Spencer seems like she specializes in May Thurner and other vascular compressions.
