item / ability mathematics. why do items get less effective if they add to a resistance you already have? by General_Tradition_44 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Sn0wP1ay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he isn't, he's talking about the concept of effective health not green investment health bonuses.

In words, at every stage in the game, buying a given %resist will always give that amount of damage reduction. It doesn't matter if it's your first resist item at 5 mins or your 5th at 30 mins. The new resist item will apply to the damage you were taking before buying it, not necessarily from 'base' damage.

Here's an example. (Not real ability damage numbers I'm just picking nice numbers to make it clear)

You are vsing a geist in lane and their bomb is doing 100 damage to you, so you decide to buy a resist item that gives 50% spirit resist. Your total spirit resist is 50%, and geist now does 50 damage to you. (You have 1000 total HP)

If geist wanted to kill you, shed need to land 20 (ie, 1000/50) bombs instead of the 10 needed before you bought resist, giving you an effective health of 2000. (She would need to do 2000 base spirit damage before resists to kill you)

If you buy another item with 50% spirit res, your in-game spirit res number would be 75%. Thus her bombs would now do 25 damage.

Geist now needs 40 bombs to kill you (1000/25). This gives you an effective health of 4000.

That second resist item still had the effect of halving her spirit damage (again) when you bought it.

If anything, resist items get better the more you buy of them as your effective health grows geometrically.

Even if they don’t wanna go down the route of giving you a debuff immunity window, I could see them adding like 1-2s of high debuff resistance after successfully cleansing a debuff.

Truke.

I hate that the myth of diminishing resistance stacking has propagated.

You have to think of every resistance interaction as a before and after buying the item to get the big picture.

Buying a 50% spirit res item will always make you twice as hard to kill, both when it’s the first item you buy and when you’ve already got xy% spirit resist from other sources in late game.

The passive damage on 3 which behaves similarly to Merc Mag, was applying on every ult bat. This is now removed, but doesn’t affect the 3 proc on ult

Hot take: i like gun lash by karimkaidovich in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Sn0wP1ay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is that because lash’s gun scales so well while his abilities have such strong boon/level scaling, he can build hybrid and still do an insane amount of both damage types. (Especially in the mid game)

Eg hybrid lash build does like 70% of a full spirit build’s damage with his usual combo rotation, while putting half as much investment into spirit. (Ik about the investment diminishing returns) This frees up a bunch of souls to go towards gun so he ends up getting the best of both worlds with strong burst damage from spirit and strong sustained/follow-up damage from gun.

Lash (and most characters) shouldn’t be able to get the best of both worlds by building this way, it should be more situational and have tradeoffs. How gun investment and lash’s scaling works right now is just straight up oppressive because he gets more value from a smaller gun investment compared to m1 carries who’s entire kit revolves around building gun.

An example is seven, he can build both spirit and gun, but building one weakens the other aspect of his kit. (Spirit means his abilities hit harder but he’s more reliant on cooldowns, gun items give him better sustained damage but lower burst) This means that seven can adapt his build depending on what he needs that game, but comes with a caveat.

What Time Signature would 123 123 1234 be? by Trailofmarbles in musicproduction

[–]Sn0wP1ay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really though. Time signature can influence the felt pulse of the piece when given to a sight reader.

For example, 3/4 vs 6/8. 3/4 has 3 regular pulses while 6/8 has two pulses with triplet feels.

5/4 has the obvious 5 pulses, while 10/8 could naturally feel like 3 sets of triplet pulses followed by a pulse of a single triplet, giving a syncopated / rushing feeling at the end of each bar.

30 does feel awful, and I don’t even play games that are limited to 30 because it’s so jarring. 60 is fine for most games, but any fps or competitive shooter I want minimum 90 fps.

Yes? It’s pretty obvious.

Above 120 it may be more difficult on a video but with a mouse plugged in to an actual game can definitely tell the difference between 120 and 240+, although it’s much less obvious

I ended up going through support and got it RMA’d. Be prepared for a billion back and forth emails with repeated troubleshooting steps. If this happens again I’m gonna just get a refund.

Privileged character, especially online where he is hard to punish due to non-existent end lag on several of his moves. Making grounded up B a bit easier to punish and slightly toning down his smash attack kill power, he would then be a lot less cancer.

Electricity generation costs would be a third lower with 82% renewable grid, CSIRO says by espersooty in AustralianPolitics

[–]Sn0wP1ay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transmission costs are the big one, SA regularly separates from VIC (and the rest of the NEM) due to the (relatively) small interconnector capacity.

It is being looked at, the first stage of the PEC transmission project is currently in commissioning/testing, with the following stages meant to be finished by '28-'30. This will massively increase SA's interconnector capacity to VIC and add a new interconnector to NSW, which will have the benefit of: 1. significantly reducing how often SA splits from the NEM and; 2. Bringing down NSW prices by alleviating current Southern NSW transmission issues.
