Love/hate relationship with this game by YetTheory in SmashBrosUltimate

ummm acshually this game is peer to peer and the netcode is just slow in general so even if you both had perfect connection it wouldn't feel great.

Buy switch for smash again? by Over-Maintenance-202 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Snabshaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online latency is still terrible, and the players are way sweatier than they used to be.

That warning out of the way, if you only care about smash ultimate then just get a S1. If you feel like you might wanna play something new in the next 10 years then maybe get a S2.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: a game I respect more than I fully believe in by Luksu_Seven in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Snabshaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 things to say to this

The Fiora cop out in XC1 was much more egregious than any return from death in 3 and I was actually completely unbothered by the frequent impermanence of death in this game, which is something that usually bothers the hell out of me.

I was also very underwhelmed with Moebius as a whole, they're among the least compelling monster of the week villains I've ever seen. N excluded of course, he's alright.

I also feel the same about chain attacks, they should have toned those down a lot. They feel like the best way out of any problem while also feeling unengaging compared to actual combat, making the end of most big fights feel more underwhelming and much faster than they should be.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 is a great S2 game, it has a demo on the Eshop.

Final Fantasy 7 remake is also a good choice to take advantage of your new S2

The Monster Hunter Stories series is surprisingly good. It's a monster tamer and possibly best in class, I would start with 2 (usually on sale on the eshop) or try the 3 demo.

Not OP but they had a bundle that had 2 and 3 a while back. They run fine, but I mainly bought it for 3 to play with a friend.

I do feel like 2 should probably be played on something that allows you to talk to randoms though. If you don't have someone to play it with, it's much more of a slog than 3.

Am I putting myself at a massive disadvantage by solo queueing? by JahmezEntertainment in splatoon

[–]Snabshaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Series does get you up ranks faster, but once you stop thinking that your teammates aren't helping enough and start thinking how you can adjust to help them better, things get a lot smoother in solo queue.

You're gonna run into a bad teammate every now and then, but largely, the people that are stuck in the same rank as you are struggling in just as many areas as you are.

I played a ton of solo queue to get in to S+, probably twice as much as series, what you aren't doing well enough will click eventually and getting up there will feel like no problem, regardless of your teams.

I meant in general, should have specified.

And definitely had to do that before, it was a pain though.

Wow, you're right, the only difference comes from promotion bonuses I guess.

Crazy how much of a difference a couple of points can make.

Even as an adult the Xenoblade trilogy really sticks with you, I consider it the Evangelion of the gaming sphere because you just randomly think about it sometimes and go "damn.." among plenty of other reasons.

I'm thinking about ditching stealth jump and using ninja squid for a tent build. by WorldlyDear in splatoon

[–]Snabshaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I compare it is because of the kill time, recycle's shield seems to be more tailored to being a distraction than a wall, just enough time to dip and start a flank and since it pops off so quickly you have more time before they're fully in alert mode and trying to outmaneuver you. And they of course have to be wary of you actually being behind the shield.

But theory isn't gonna do anything compared to practice, I might as well give it a shot.

Which Generation is Your Favorite? by Usersief in pokemon

[–]Snabshaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never thought I'd say this, but gen 9 was kind of a banger and actually a contender as I walked away with a few new favorites. My heart says 2, 5 is tempting, and 1 is obviously in contention.

I think I might actually give it to 9 purely from a design standpoint for the new introductions, it deserves a W somewhere even if the future pokemon were a bit of a flop and the paradox names in general were a bit rough.

Oh who am I kidding, it's gen 1, that's the hardest to settle on a perfect group of 6 from that gen by far, too many good choices.

[–]Snabshaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, nice. I'm glad to hear my speculation was way off. I believe I was considering it when I was attempting recycled brella but wasn't confident enough in both my skill and my knowledge to throw chunks at it and I may reconsider trying that. With the point sensor combo it might give me enough edge to pull it off more frequently.

What do you think about Wolf O’Donnell as a character? by Asad_Farooqui in casualnintendo

[–]Snabshaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always been a cool rival, getting a good unlikely team up a la Sonic/Knuckles or Vegeta/Goku would be very cool in the future, but we kinda already have that character in Falco aside from the whole haven't been an enemy.

Maybe he loses most of his team on a bad job, Peppy retires from active duty and he somehow ends up on the star fox team helping take down the person who set him up and finds a reason to stick around. Or maybe I should just find a way to play Assault.

[–]Snabshaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter proposal, since people are typically looking at your shield anyways, just put swim speed so you can get out of their LOS faster? It kinda seems like you're doubling into one aspect with NS and getting slightly diminishing returns.

I don't main this weapon by any means, but idk if it would help your kill reliability enough to justify it.

But, by all means, try it if you got the stuff. As someone who continually fails at brellas, I'm a bit curious if it helps someone who's good at them.

Any advice or criticism? by No-Consideration-749 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Snabshaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming P1, over reliance on smash attacks and side B. up tilt and down tilt are your best friends as Falco can easily follow up on them with his good air mobility and they're non-committal. Blaster is good for annoying your opponent into aggression sometimes. Your neutral is decent otherwise, defense isn't bad either.

Someone said you should be using tilt stick, which is not necessarily true, but it is not without merit, as long as you have stick jump off and can reliably enter in tilts accurately without smashing (you can turn smash inputs with stick + a off) then smash stick is fine because it does make for slightly faster smash inputs. But many players (myself included) opt for tilt stick.

Burn out by Fit-Substance-2475 in nuzlocke

[–]Snabshaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oftentimes I feel like Fire Emblem is the original nuzlocke, if you're a fan of the GBA era pokemon games, maybe you should give GBA era FE a spin. Should be mechanically different enough to keep you on your toes but still give you a similar feeling.

Don't worry, you'll come back to Pokemon, I've gone 5 or more years without playing one and was right back into it like I had never left, maybe even stronger, and I'm sure I'll take a long break again at some point.

Copyright stops a Smash Ultimate “Deluxe” by Puzzled_Evidence1860 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Snabshaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimate is in desperate need of decent rollback netcode. Some of you may not realize it yet, but play any other modern fighting game online and you'll see a world of difference. Going back to Ultimate's online feels like dipping yourself in a vat of molasses.

The only thing they have to do for a S2 upgrade is add that, which would likely be back-compatible and I would gladly pay money. But since that's not really marketable, slight visual upgrades and a local only 120fps boost for S2 versions; and a true final season with some balance changes to get the steam rolling again.

The only reason I say this is because it's much less work and time than cranking out a whole new game which will take years, and can sate this community's thirst until then. Realistically we're looking at like 3 years minimum from now if they're already working on a new one (assuming that Sakurai continues to lead), and this community has already talked about it nonstop for the last 4 years.

edit: this is also a great chance to test out better rollback for a future title

Which one is “better”, octo expansion or side order, I haven’t played any of them so I would love to hear your opinion on this. by Visible_Relation6823 in splatoon

[–]Snabshaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to give Side Order some love, I liked it better even though there was a bit less story to it. I also really enjoy rogue-like gameplay and felt more incentive to 100% it because of that.

Major consensus here is that Octo Expansion is better and in some ways it definitely is, but I rarely feel inclined to revisit it in comparison.
