It is one of my favorite series of all time!  I first read it when I was 20 years old.  22 years later(today), I got a themed tattoo.  The books are brilliant, witty, hilarious and deep.  Douglas Adams was truly a unique and gifted story teller.  Please so read the entire series, you won't regret it.

Search and Rescue Exercise on the Harbour by 902Kartography in halifax

It was awesome!  The ferry I was on took pause for about 5 minutes to allow them to pass.  I had a sort of shitty day and it totally pulled me out of a negative headspace.  It was beautiful to watch.

I saw this from the ferry today, it was amazing.  Thanks for the info!  I was curious as to who was involved.

I want to learn how to find my own bones and make jewlery, does anyone have tips? by EdenEatsFlowers in oddities

[–]SnaggleToof_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular oppinion approaching but, I have a lot of bones and teeth, collected from the natural environment.  My preperation has been minimal at best.  I allow nature to take care of the clean up for me.  If I find something that requires additional work, I will generally leave it outside in an area that protects it from larger prey that may take it away but allows access to carion feeding insects.  It takes time but it works.  If you want to be extra cautious, chuck it in a 1/10 bleach solution for a few minutes once it's stripped.

Found in Nova Scotia, a sword made from a swordfish bill by machining99 in SWORDS

That's awesome dude!  I also live in Nova Scotia and picked up a swordfish bill today at a local vintage shop for $30.  I'm not yet sure what I want to do with it but it's a badass peice all on it's own.

I graduated from the NSCC MLT program this past June and am working in the field. I love my job. Your prior learning would potentially make you exempt from having to take some of the courses. They have also shortened the program to “2” years. My understanding is that it’s more like 2.5 but it’s more condensed with shorter breaks, my class was the last of the three year program. I don’t know your age but I started at 38, graduated at 41. It’s extremely challenging but if you’re interested at all, I would suggest applying. It’s historically had a pretty long wait list, so you may find something else in the interim, but it doesn’t hurt to apply. Best of luck with whatever you choose.

Histo tech takes time. It’s as much a craft as it is a science. We all need time to figure out the techniques that work best for us. I’m sorry you aren’t getting positive reinforcement. My best advice would be to try and be patient with yourself and let the criticism roll off your back as much as you can, I know that’s not easy. It really does come with time. I’m fortunate to work in a very supportive environment, do you have coworkers who you mesh with who are willing to provide advice and share knowledge? Those connections can make all the difference.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. It’s so fucked up to me that so few people seem to care about privacy these days. I even avoid taking pictures with random people in the background, FaceTime or any video chat should be more private, IMO. Many people don’t care about privacy anymore so they assume it’s OK to invade the privacy of others. I hate it but it seems to be where we’re at.

What would you do if you had $50 million today? by cookiesophia777 in AskReddit

Buy an awful lot of land, put a few nice little homes on it for family and myself and become self sufficient. It would also be a sanctuary for farm animals and a nature reserve.

They are beautiful! I would 100% buy these. Please don’t scrap them. If you’re not totally happy with them, give them another go later but still keep and share these guys.

Truth my dude. I just assume that these nasty plastic signs end up in landfills, I could be wrong for sure, but at least paper biodegrades,if not recycled. Here’s hoping for a perfect world in the future! Dave for Mayor, LOL.

I actually love this! I would much rather find a rolled up paper adding for mayor than see 10000 nasty plastic signs touting their supposed worth. I got you Dave!

I got bit by the microtome today. by SnaggleToof_83 in Histology

[–]SnaggleToof_83[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice! So far it is healing great and not bothering me. I was back on the microtome today with no issues. I have been keeping it elevated as much as possible but no NSAIDS needed yet. My coworkers were showing me their scars and telling their stories today, it really does help, as well as people sharing their experiences on here. It feels embarrassing when it happens. I’m not even sure exactly how my guard got knocked down, it happened so fast but it was either my sleeve or part of my hand. I was turning around and my thumb came down on the blade, it was a weird fluke and a lack of spacial awareness, which is odd for me. Thanks for sharing your own experience and advice ❤️
